So I just got a VPN and am watching S12 on Wow+ (using a France server) and to my fucking shock it's the unedited version with Sherry Pie.

Firstly, so does giving predators a platform not matter if it's outside of their home country?

And to anyone that's already seen the unedited version, how is their absence from the finale handled (or was that too just left unedited)?

I’ve only recently started watching RuPaul’s Drag Race and I finished watching season 12. I know that Sherry Pie had been disqualified because of what she had done prior to being on the show coming to light. She won two challenges when she was on the show. They did mention that they donated $5000 dollars for every challenge that she won since that’s how much you win for winning a challenge. I was just curious if they gave her that money or did they revoke it after she was disqualified?

We stand in solidarity with Jackie Cox and add our voices to her call for the Tamron Hall Show to cancel Sherry Pie's appearance. Abusers should not be platformed. Sherry Pie should not be given a redemption storyline and allowed to return to the public eye after her horrific manipulations of her victims.

If you don't remember the details, Sherry Pie didn't just catfish these men. She manipulated them into performing sexual acts on camera in front of her under the false pretenses of it being an audition tape. She endangered their bodies by convincing them to take anabolic steroids under the belief they would be cast in a major television show as the lead. She encouraged them to turn down actual paying acting jobs in order to continue recieving nonconsensual fetish material from her victims. A person who has such a torrid history of abusing any modicum of power they have to nonconsensually satisfy their sexual desires should not be allowed further access to positions of power.

Giving abusers a platform doesn't expose their bad behavior. It gives them a chance to spread their negativity.

If I may speak frankly, the moderation team doesn't want to post this thread. We dont want to give any air to this person. We don't want her to have a platform here. But we understand some users will need a space to process this information with other members of our community, so we offer this thread.

so im not a new rpdr fan but i did fall behind a little and now im catching up on seasons 12 & 13, and without too many spoilers, can someone tell me when sherry pie leaves. im getting really tired of seeing her face and im looking forward to her leaving. please no spoilers besides that one! i really like watching the seasons w/out knowing the outcome (something that i haven’t experienced until season 11) thanks judys

so i was rewatching s12 with a friend for the first time (netflix canada) and noticed that i was seeing a lot more of sherry pie than before? i’ve watched the season 2 times over before, and this time was with a friend and I remembered SP barely being there except when she was with the other queens or won a challenge, basically only when it was impossible to cut her out. but this time while watching i saw she had a full section of the confessionals during her entrance and got a lot of screen time. also noticed they didn’t edit out (or re edited back in?) her spring and fall runway looks. maybe it’s just me and i’m remembering things wrong but i swear i had never seen the two looks she wore other than a few days ago, and that’s what got me thinking. did they re edit her into the episodes? did they think it’s been a while since the season came out and that people might not notice anymore? i’m genuinely confused and if someone else who’s seen the season at least once while it was airing or shortly after, re watch the first episode she’s in and tell me if i’m just losing my mind.

RuPaul’s Drag Race

Before getting into the drama let’s discuss some background and necessary terms. Drag is usually defined as someone who dresses up in hair, makeup, and costumes for entertainment purposes. Typically, drag queens are gay men who perform as women in drag, but anyone is able to participate in the art of drag.

When referring to drag queens she/her pronouns are typically used when a queen is in drag or when discussing their career. I will also only refer to a queen using their drag name but their real names can easily be found.

RuPaul’s Drag Race is a reality competition show hosted by RuPaul to crown “America’s Next Drag Superstar”. The success of the series has resulted in numerous spinoff series and a seemingly constant stream of drag related content. The winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race receives a one year supply of Anastasia Beverly Hills Cosmetics and a cash prize of $100,000. In the LGBTQ+ and drag community being casted on Drag Race is a huge deal and can propel a queen’s career to the point that they can become a full time drag queen.

Sherry Pie

Sherry Pie, or Joey Gugliemelli, is a 28 year old drag queen from New York City and was cast on Season 12 of Drag Race. Her drag is known for being campy and inspired by musical theater. Since the show is filmed almost a year before it is set to air, it is common for spoilers about how contestants perform to emerge from subreddits like r/SpoiledDragRace. Season 12 was filmed in July of 2019 and began airing in February of 2020. The premier was split over two weeks so that half the queens appeared in the first episode and the other half in the second episode. Sherry was slated to make her Drag Race debut on the second half of the premier. Rumors began circulating that Sherry did well on the show and made it far into the competition. Then the allegations started piling up.

The Allegations

On March 4, the day before Sherry’s episode was set to premier, Ben Shimkus posted a detailed account of his experience with Sherry Pie on Facebook. He and Sherry attended Cortland State University’s Musical Theatre program together and performed in over a dozen shows together. When Ben was a senior, a friend reached out saying there was an audition at the prestigious Playwright’s Horizons in New York City and gave him the contact information for a woman named Allison Mossey.

Am i the obly one who thinks sherry pie should've been eliminated or atleast placed on the bottom 2 for not following the challenge's 'rule' or 'requirement'? I mean, yes her act was funny but it wouldn't be funny if it was actually cut-off at the five minute mark.

This last episode I noticed they got some staff to start removing her screen time when it’s not really consequential to the episode. Like we saw some of what she did on snatch game to illustrate why she was top 3 of the week but they removed footage of her runway walk. I think it’s really cool that the editing team was able to respond in some small way to the sexual harassment/catfishing scandal

I was wondering what their opinion was. Unless wow has given them a gag order for the duration of the season that wouldn't surprise me tbh.

Obviously there has been heavy amounts of editing through the series to remove her as much as possible, but I’ve thought this throughout the series, that originally she was going to get the villain edit? I mean the gag is she doesn’t need an edit, but I thought it after how she and Brita treated Aiden in one of the first episodes and then the latest episode kinda solidified it for me with the puppets and the main challenge? What you all think?

I don’t get it.. I feel like everyone else on the show ever has been criticised if they reuse a similar makeup style even once, but Sherry Pie has gotten through this whole season so far without it even being mentioned by anyone?
