Improvement on the previous game: PARENT posts a word or sentence NOT IN ENGLISH. CHILD answers in another language (also not English) only if he does not know the meaning of the sentence and tries to guess what it means. After 2-3 comments parent and last comment are compared to see the difference.

Since too many people know English.

EXAMPLE:

Parent: [FRENCH]:
"Je veux manger une baguette"

Child: [Italian man who does not know French]:
"Le vere manager hanno barchette"

Child: [Spanish man who does not know Italian]:
"Spanish sentence that tries to translate Italian sentence"

Child: [German man who does not know Spanish]:
"German sentence that tries to translate Spanish sentence"

Parent: "My sentence meant "I want to eat a sandwich"
Italian: "Mine meant "True managers have little boats"
Spanish: "Mine meant ...

ETC... The final reveal can happen in any order, as long as OP starts. (i.e. German guy can answer before Italian guy and so on)

Parent comment directly translates an expression in their native language to English, children come up with a definition and use it in a sentence. That definition is then locked in for that thread and people have to treat it like it's a normal expression.

In languages such as Japanese and Korean, sometimes a noun is said at the beginning of the sentence but in English it is presented at the end. Is it worse to accidentally say a part of a secret in those languages as opposed to English?

For example, I think it might've been in Mr. Sunshine, someone was talking about boats and infantry arriving at a specific location. They used proper names for those two subjects so I was able to pick them out audibly. In the English subtitles, they appeared at the end of the sentence. I'll try to give an example of what I mean.

In an English sentence it would be like: Be on the lookout around twelve o'clock because that's when we are expecting the Commander and the Free Army.

When I listened to it in Korean, I heard Commander and Free Army before the sentence was over. If the first half of the sentence was said in English, we wouldn't know what to be on the lookout for. If the first half of the sentence was said in Korean, would they know only about the Commander and the Free Army but not know when to look for them?

This has been bugging me for a while and I finally decided I'd ask here. No stupid questions after all. Thank you!

I’m a teenager with a severe stutter that changes its β€œstyle” frequently and often. Ranging from simple one letter repetitions without twitching and being able to finish a sentence in 2 seconds to word repetitions and blockages with slightly violent twitching and movements. AMA

I’ve had a stutter ever since I could talk. I did do speech therapy for the entirety of 5th grade, but when i switched schools for middle school, the speech therapist at the time decided i was fluent enough to stop speech. For a while, after I got comfortable with my school my stutter was almost nonexistent, you could barely tel it was there unless it was an off day, until beginning of 8th grade. It wasn’t as severe but it was getting a bit worse. Not enough to worry anyone but more noticeable. By August 2019, i would start getting random weeks or days where i was completely incomprehensible. Putting it into text form, my sentences sounded like this. β€œM-m-m-my-my-my-my na-name-nam-name-name i-is is is nea-neat-neat-noot-cor-c-c-coron-kne-ees”. Since August i’ve ben getting these random weeks where the entire week was like this.

The way i talk or the β€œstyle” as i put it, also changes when my stutter changes. This sounds wild, I know. But sometimes i add weird inflictions to words without meaning too. PM me for an audio recording if you’d like to hear this

running this says "undefined: palette" at line 34. I see the problem but don't know how to instantiate pallette. This is to create lissajous gifs. Would be fun to get it working:

package main

"math/rand"
"os"
)
var pal = []color.Color{color.White,color.Black}
const (
whiteIndex = 0
blackIndex = 1
)
func main() {
lissajous(os.Stdout)
}
func lissajous(out io.Writer){
const (
cycles = 5
res = 0.001
size = 100
nframes = 64
delay = 8
)
freq := rand.Float64() *3.0
anim := gif.GIF{LoopCount: nframes}
phase := 0.0
for i := 0; i < nframes; i++ {
rect := image.Rect(0,0,2*size+1,2*size+1)
img := image.NewPaletted(rect,palette) // HERE IS THE PROBLEM!!!
for t:=0.0;t<cycles*2*math.Pi; t += res{
x:=math.Sin(t)
y := math.Sin(t*freq + phase)
img.SetColorIndex(size+int(x*size+0.5),
size + int(y*size+0.5),
blackIndex)
}
phase += 0.1
anim.Delay = append(anim.Delay,delay)
