I haven't posted here before, but I've only been reading graphic novels for about 2 years and this subreddit has been an invaluable resource and has given me so many great recommendations in that time, that's why I wanna make this little (long winded, self-indulgent) post about SCALPED, hope that's okay.
I regrettably dismissed comics for most of my life, I don’t like the MCU movies, and personally didn't care much about superhero stuff and generally lumped all graphic literature together as that or adjacent to it, and stuck to "real novels". Then, one way or another, I ended up reading some Junji Ito, which led to some more manga, and then as things go I got interested in what English comics had to offer. I came here, somewhat reluctantly, and looked up some of the highly praised books and dug in. I read modern classics; things like Maus and From Hell, and instantly knew I was wrong. These were amazingly intriguing reads that gave me something I'd never experienced in traditional print books. I had to go deeper and decided to look into some longer series, after some more looking around here I read SAGA and everything changed.
SAGA was beautiful, emotional and instantly became my favorite thing I've ever read, and thus I became a full blown graphic novel addict. Then, like an addict, I started reading everything I could get my hands on. I inhaled most of Brian K Vaughn's work, then on to other amazing series; East of West, Descender, Kill or Be Killed, Deadly Class, Northlanders, Preacher, Criminal... the list goes on. I found myself hunting down older series and buying up any trade paperback that I heard recommended or had an interesting cover, one of those trades was The Goddamned by Jason Aaron and R.M. Guera. Its amazing art and raw story were enough to get me hooked on the duo, and immediately went to find out what else they had done.
This, finally, brings me to SCALPED. It’s not a ‘hidden gem' or completely forgotten about by all means, but it’s a series I hadn't heard too much about in my rummaging around posts here, or elsewhere. I found all the volumes and I devoured it, I just couldn't put it down. I just finished it and I'm awestruck.
The story is engaging: at times heartbreaking and others blood rushing. The characters are realistic and complex, even those that appear in only brief vignettes (such as issue #35 “Listening to the Earth Turn”: one of the best single issues of anything I’ve ever read). What it says on the tin. I really enjoyed Scalped (link to the comic for those curious), and it reinvigorated my love of noir. Especially modern noir. If anyone has any tips for where to go from here, I would appreciate the lead in.
I just like stories where the protagonist is out of their depth and pushing uphill the whole way. They're not a hero, they're just a regular schmoe trying to do the right thing.
Or maybe they are a hero, but some temptation pulls them astray. (No spoilers, but if you've read Scalped: what happens once he meets the chief's daughter.)
I've already read Watchmen, The Dark Knight Returns, and The PunisherMAX series.

Hi all, So excited for the MOASS :) Like most of you, I don’t know how to properly navigate the tax codes and all that. If anyone on here is well versed in tax codes and understand how to get mom a home, give your siblings a small fortune, or even set up a fund for your nieces and nephews, without being robbed once again by the tax code, that be a huge help to all of us as we strive for generational wealth. A buyer showed upto my house wanting a rtx 3080 TI. He said he had the cash and drove 2 hours to get to me and his teenage son was really excited about getting an upgrade but when I told him that I needed an extra 200 dollars he seemed angry and confused, didn't understand why.
I calmly explained that the StockX price had increased ( I put a fake offer to take the cheapest off the market) and therefore I had to increase the price. I explained that all prices of GPUs were subject to change quickly due to volatility and that this was the norm, I explained that the stock x price is like the daily price of gold on the stockmarket.He handed over the money reluctantly ( no tip either, what a cheapskate)
Guys some tips if your buying a scalped GPU
- Be prepared to pay extra, us scalpers have costs and expensive cars, girlfriends and lifestyles that need to be funded.
- Prepare a tip ahead of time ( usually 10 percent but 25% is much appreciated. 3.our time is valuable so come 10 minutes ahead of when you say. And speak as little as possible. No small talk, once again our time is valuable
I had a somewhat sloppy trading day, but I made one very nice scalp on RELI today with 5,000 shares. I got in for the third retest of $8.5 and then it popped up and I sold at $8.7. Then I made about $270 scalping small moves throughout the day.

everywhere i look, i cant find an ok priced daily bugle, its usually 450+ and the box alone is 120? im so confused
This is an excerpt from a follow up news article on the unprovoked attack of Teri Angel by her friend’s pit in Sept., 2021. This helps prove that temperament tests are a joke. Look at the pictures from Teri’s attack… that’s a serious attack, and this dog was still able to pass the temperament test? Please connect the dots here!
“Angel was visiting her friend Valina Jackson who lives in Guntersville City limits. Jackson is Havoc’s owner.
After the attack, Angel went through several surgeries, skin grafting, and pain after part of her scalp was ripped off by the dog.
Marshall County Animal Control Supervisor Kevin Hooks picked up Havoc and placed him at the animal shelter to be evaluated at the request of the judge.
In court, Hooks testified that Havoc had passed all of his behavioral tests and was deemed not dangerous.
