As many of us know, Roz was named and based off a real woman who produced wings and sadly died of breast cancer back in 91. That's all I can ever seem to find on her. I might be one of very few but I sure would love to see some sort of documentary about her. She was loved and thought very highly of. I'm curious to know how much she was like and unlike the character Roz. Maybe I just haven't found it yet?
ROZ DOYLE WAS A REAL WOMAN!!! Her name and character is based on a real-life woman that worked as a producer with David Angel, David Lee and Peter Casey on their other hits (NOTABLY: WINGS). She died of breast cancer and creating a character with her name was their way of a tribute 😀!!!
The TV show Wings was produced by the same guys that produced Frasier, but Wings came first. The role of Helen Chapel, the airport diner owner character on Wings, was supposed to be played by Peri Gilpin (Roz on Frasier) but NBC brass at the time didn't think Gilpin was ready for a lead role. After a few years passed, they produced Frasier and by then NBC was convinced Peri Gilpin was ready for a lead role, so they gave her the character of Roz and named her Roz Doyle in honor of their dead friend from their Wings days.
And now you know the rest of the story.

Frasier's Love Life
Throughout the years, there have been many, many women who have shared a relationship - or at least, a bed - with a certain Dr Frasier Crane. This lists all the women we know of.....
Before 1993
- Clarice Warner, his old piano teacher (Constance Towers) (1969ish - Frasier said he was 17 at the time).
- Nannette "Nanny Gee" Gooseman (Emma Thompson in Cheers), a children's entertainer. Frasier's first wife, married about 1972. Divorced not long afterwards after they realised it was a mistake. (NOTE: what about the 6.5 year gap?)
- Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), his fiancée. She introduced him to Cheers and the regulars there, but jilted him at the altar (1984 - 1985).
- Candi (Jennifer Tully), one of Sam Malone's ex girlfriends whom he set Frasier up with - and Frasier proposed the night they met! Sam and Diane talked him out of it, as Candi wasn't the brightest bulb in the house.... (1986)
- Dr Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth), Frasier's second wife. (1986 - 1992, married 1988).
- Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), bar manager of Cheers. They had sex a couple of times but then Lilith returned. (1992). (NOTE: I think this statement is wrong)
- Shauna, his secretary. She only dated him to get back at her parents (1992).
1993
- Catherine (Amanda Donahue) (Ep 7).
1994
- Model Kristina Harper (Claire Stansfield) (Ep 14).
- Tawny Van Deusen (Trish Ramish) (Ep 18).
- Carrie (Sara Melson), a 22 year old student working in a shop for some money. She thinks Frasier is 34. (Ep 20).
- Madeline Marshall (JoBeth Williams), who has her own sportswear range (Eps 32 and 33).
1995
- Dr Honey Snow (Shannon Tweed), a self-help psychtherapist whose looks Frasier falls for (Ep 39).
- Sheila (Tea Leoni), fiancée of Frasier's friend Sam Malone (Ted Danson) who ran Cheers!!! (Ep 40). (NOTE: this happened 6 months prior in Boston)
- Bebe Glazer, after a night of celebrating Frasier's new contract went a bit too far... (Ep 46).

This list comes from a previous post where I asked people to list names of problematic ECs they have personally worked with. Obviously, any person who is paid to send kids to treatment programs is horrible, but this list is just specific names people have shared. Hopefully this list helps parents know where NOT to go, and helps survivors know that they’re not alone with the bad experience they had with their ECs. The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
