Roxanne (The Police song) Puns

This song is considered a great and a classic but honestly it’s a steaming pile of crap.

The lyrics in the verses while they rhyme barely flow and sound awful and the words are uninteresting but honestly the worst part of the song is the lead singer Sting.

Despite being a native English speaker he sounds like he’s only just learned the language and his singing voice and struggle to pronounce basic words is extremely unpleasant to listen to. The only pleasant part of the song is the back up singers in the chorus singing the word “Roxanne” which is almost immediately ruined by Sting screaming “PU ON A RED LIE”.

The instrumental parts are also quite boring and don’t grip me at all but I’m mostly put off by how Sting sounds disabled.

I’m sure this will get some backlash and people trying to change my mind or calling me an idiot but this subreddit is meant to be for unpopular options despite 90% of its posts being “opinions that everyone has but doesn’t say out loud”

Solves! Renee by lost boys

So when I was in high school, a girl performed a fabrics routine to a song that I think was called Roxanne. It was not the one by Sting/The Police. I didn’t recognize it at the time but it sounded like it was from a Broadway play or a musical. It wasn’t “Roxie” from Chicago either. The singer (male) had a deep gravelly voice.

I have no idea what this could be, because the only lyric I remember was the name “Roxanne.” The song had a very burlesque feel. I don’t remember the girl’s name unfortunately and I’m not in touch with anyone from high school, so here I am. Thanks!

Edit: it was only for his first at bat.

Did anyone else notice that the intro for Roxanne is missing for guitar or is really low on volume? I thought it was just a glitch but I tried it multiple times and the issue is still there.
