Hi all just curious, i have a 2002 renault laguna 1 RXT 2.0 16v but not sure which engine it has cause is see some say f4r, then i also see n7q or f3r but im not sure. In the vin number there stands B56 which is also a motor but it seems to have only been used from '93-'00. If anybody can please confirm for me. TIA

Hope someone has some ideas. I'm in Ireland so haven't had much reason to use my car in the last 3 months (once a week 20 min round trips within my town @50km/h to keep things ticking + one 100kmish trip @120km/h). Yesterday we went a bit beyond our designated 5km to pick up a balance bike on a regional road @80km/h. The reason I give the speeds is that when I slowed down into the housing estate the car began to juddering in gears 2 and 1 and the engine light started to flash. I switched the car off, turned it on again and drove off but the car continued to judder but no light and power seemed to come and go. On the 10km home, the light came on again a few times and the car continued to judder and labour a little and then magically healed again. I thought maybe all was okay but when I slowed to park up and tried to reverse the same juddering and loss of power happened again. Luckily I was able to drive into the parking space in front of me. I looked at the handbook and it said it the flashing light was engine overheating. This rang a bell because I saw that the temp gauge was either flipping between rock bottom (how it is when off) and 25% (how it normally is) but never went above that. I assume I'll have to bring it in for a diagnostic but the car ain't worth much so don't want to be getting huge work done. Any ideas what the cause of this might be?
