I am floored by Lone Echo. I already thought Echo Arena was my game of the year and actually cared less about the single player portion.
But Oh My Gods. What an amazing game.
Not only is it hands down the best sciencefiction game I have played in years, it also shows how much can be done with current hardware and even current recommended specs.
My rig is an i5 6400 with 8Gb ram, and an R9 390 (which has an additional 8 Gb of videoram).
The game runs almost perfectly on default settings. A little stutter here and there doesn't really matter.
What matters is the sense of scale, the magnificent art style and the incredible presence it presents.
And Lone Echo also proves to me once again that VR games should not try to emulate (or port) flat games. Energy, time and money should go to games like this: fully developed for VR with new mechanics and new forms of locomotion.
The only downside to Lone Echo (and Echo Arena) is that it ruins all other VR for me. It's like playing a full 3D polygonal game and then going back to Pong.
This is the giant leap VR needed and the reason us early adopters bought a Rift.
I think they can because they'll haven't released a major game since the Order 1886 and I think that they've learned from their mistakes. Also I can't wait to see how they can push PS5 hardware.
So was I reading this story about Ready at Dawn and noticed an interesting quote.

What is this platform they're mentioning? I haven't seen anything being discussed about this. Just thought it was interesting.
