A list of puns related to "Radio direction finder"
Last post removed hope this one works any info would be nice RCA Radio Direction Finder AR-8714C
Hi Everybody,
In my previous post, I described a theory around lightning and that there should be a way to trigger lightning strikes in order to use it as a power source for the circuit drawn on the mural. https://www.reddit.com/r/chiliadmystery/comments/4w41g4/the_chiliad_mural_is_a_hand_drawn_lightning/
One theory leads to another...
/u/Keyser187 (Thanks mate!) reminded me that lightning bolts can also represent radio waves. Like how radio emitters or transmitters can be represented: http://www.bergenskywarn.org/Graphics/10-70towerLogo.jpg or http://www.crosscountrywireless.net/ccw.gif or how radio stations were represented in the 50s: http://www.harrisonquest.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/radio-drama-revival-logo2.jpg or even the radio station Soulwax FM : http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/gtawiki/images/1/16/Soulwax-fm-official.png
I was also looking at how antennas looked like in the 50s trying to see if any emitter/receiver looked like the ufo shape at the top of mountain. I found the rabbit ear antennas : this one : https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/47/0f/15/470f152bae445a367588c2980d501981.jpg or this one : https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/dd/d6/e1/ddd6e11d9d015b4952b43603c41227b6.jpg
=> Those are called "Loop Antenna" made of two loops ("the small loop (or magnetic loop) with a size much smaller than a wavelength, and the much larger resonant loop antenna with a circumference close to the intended wavelength of operation." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loop_antenna) Sometimes they have a stick in the middle of the circles used as a tuning capacitor.
The thing with loop antennas is that they are used for Direction finding!!! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direction_finding
Loop Antennas can have different shape and can equip any type of vehicle (Space Docker??? Plane???).
How does it work? It is well described here : http://content.aviation-safety-bureau.com/allmembers/faa-h-8083-31-amt-airframe-vol-2/images/Figure%2011-93.jpg According to the orientation of the antenna, if you have a powerful signal (Sound???) you are on the right track! It reminds me how the Beast was tracked by the Big Foot, using sound tracking!
=> What the mural might represent then? It might represent the Radio Wave direction finding map leading to the eggs. By following the strength of the radio signal (sound?), we can navigate to reach the eggs. An the Xs? probably powerful Radio antennas producing the same signal (repeaters) in ord
... keep reading on reddit β‘I'm wondering if anyone is aware of a radio direction finder for RC planes that landed out of sight?
I hope to use it in a model rocket and decided it was worth trying here because the hobbies are a bit similar. I'm looking for something off the shelf instead of making an fm transmitter and a radio direction finder.
Thanks in advance.
Does anyone have anything off the shelf for finding model rockets that drift out of sight? This happened when I was a kid and killed the hobby for the family now I'm looking to start up again 30 years later. We think estees put a parachute a few inches too big in the box but I still like to be mega prepared.
I understand the electronics necessary to make a fm transmitter and a radio direction finder, and boy would it make me happy to find something off the shelf instead of going through all that.
So when I was in the military my job was electronic warfare/voice interceptor. One of our pieces of equiptment was an antenna with 4 elements arranged in a square (I think the were 4 separate dipoles). We were taught that as a radio signal passed the elements separately, the time difference was measured. The equipment could then tell us from which direction the radio signal came.
Would it be that feasible to do something similar with 4 separate RTLSDR radios on the same computer?
Take out a cheap portable radio. (You must have one in a drawer somewhere.) Dust it off and retract the antenna. Tune into any channel and set it on a flat surface. Slowly rotate it. At some point you should hear the volume dip. Under the right circumstances it should dip to nothing, especially if you aren't touching it at the time.
Somewhere in your cheap radio there is a rod made of ferrite and wrapped in wire. (If this worked.) This loopstick antenna has a deep null along its long axis, meaning that when it's pointed at a transmitter, it's almost totally insensitive. Retractable antennas, proximity to the body, bounced signals, and bar orientation can all cover up this blind spot. With careful handling and a map you could identify stations in major cities and find your location.

So hear me out. Why not change the compass to an equipment slot, that way each member of your team can bring in a piece of equipment such as the range finders, a radio, or a compass.
This is my first job getting accepted through Upwork.
Chain of events:
I submit proposal the same day the job went up.
Hour later they reply asking me to answers some questions through Upwork, then submit a confirmation to another email. I do all that.
I get a response from that email, to reach out to βJohn Doeβ on Skype for the next interview phase. I do.
He corresponds with me with a typical interview questionnaire. I answer them. He approves and says I have the job. He says HR will reach out to me with a letter of employment.
I get said letter from HR, I agree to it and send it back. HR tells me to contact John Doe back and let him know I agreed and wait for his direction. I do.
So 24 hours later here we are. I havenβt no heard anything from him or HR again. I did send out a message to him this morning saying I was just waiting for the next steps and I see that he hasnβt got my message nor been online via Skype.
Just a little while ago, Upwork removed the job post because it didnβt meet their terms of service; for receiving payment outside their platform.
So now I donβt what to do, give it the weekend before reaching out to someone? Iβm wondering if I got scammed although the only personal info I provided was name, email, address and phone number.
Any ideas?
Where I live, KerberosSDR and KrakenSDR are not sold, so I'm thinking buying 4 cheap Nooelec SDRs and arranging them in that configuration and use it to find directions. Is it possible?
Are there any online resources which tell me how to hardware mod and is the software available?
I want to be able to just click "Play random station from anywhere in the world" (and keep clicking until I find what I like). Is that possible?
Saw this retro article from 1975 by Copthorne Macdonald, inventor of ham SSTV:
With iOS 15, I can no longer get spoken directions from Apple Maps to play over my car radio. In the Maps settings, I have 'Spoken Directions' -> 'Directions on Radio' set to on. My iPhone 13 Pro connects to my car through Bluetooth. I don't have CarPlay. This has always worked fine for me with previous versions of iOS, but things seem to be broken in iOS 15.
Has anybody else seen this? What am I missing?
Tried my hand at extracting the radio music and of course they're all hashes or whatever instead of actual song titles. So I've wasted the last two days of my life extracting, listening to, and cross-referencing audio files with versions I found across YouTube and Spotify to create this BAT file that will automatically rename every song I've found and categorize them by radio station.
Word to the wise, always check bat files before running them to make sure they aren't doing anything malicious. Any text editor will work.
I didn't bother with the OST tracks because it's on Spotify (and a free download if you bought the game on GOG).
Tracks I found have stars next to them. Feel free to contribute if anyone else finds something. Or just cannibalize the list to make something better. I don't care about credit or any of that, just enjoy some good music.
