A list of puns related to "Post punk revival"
Hello, I'm currently looking for some overlooked gems of the Revival movement. I'm a big fan of (early) Interpol and also like some other bands of the movement, such as Soviet Soviet, Editors, Franz Ferdinand and Motorama. What are some deeper cuts of the genre that I may have missed?
EDIT: Thank you all for the recs.
Thank you for reading.
...have you ever listened to Impossible Soul? It's 25 minutes long
Some stripped down, The Cure-esque sounds coming out of Seoul.
Iβve been getting into joy division, Interpol, bloc party, the cure, echo and the bunnymen, and they all have really catchy songs. Iβm trying to find other bands but theyβre more dark and slow in all their songs. I donβt mind dark and slow songs but Iβm looking for more melodic songs. Any suggestions?
Just to clarify, my 5 favourite bands are
Talking Heads
Radiohead
Arctic Monkeys
Red Hot Chili Peppers (Only Blood Sugar Sex Magic and onwards, i don't care for their first 4 albums)
Queen
I started playing bass a few months ago and I'm beginning to get seriously into it, so I'm looking for a second bass guitar. I currently have a peavy grind (which I like) but I want one more suited to the genre I play, being post-punk revival (like the strokes, the killers, arctic monkeys). I've tested multiple basses, but I just wanted to see if anyone else who plays this genre has a favorite (sound wise)
I've loved The Cure and The Smiths and Nirvana for forever. I like The Cure's album Disintegration, and I like their new wave stuff (In Between Days, Just Like Heaven) and gothic stuff (Charlotte Sometimes, A Strange Day). I've been listening to their song A Strange Day over and over again lately.
I adore Nirvana and Kurt Cobain. Any and all things Kurt Cobain.
I've been getting into Talking Heads (specifically Speaking in Tongues, Fear of Music, side A of Remain in Light, and songs from right before they split up like "Sax & Violins" and "Lifetime Piling Up"), the Jesus and Mary Chain's album Darklands (favorite song is Happy When it Rains; I also really like the song Just Like Honey by them), John Frusciante's solo album The Empyrean, Slowdive's album Souvlaki, the soundtrack to the film Juno.
I really fucking love the band the Cocteau Twins. Really love them. "Pearly Dewdrops' Drops" is one of my favorite songs of all time, I really love their albums Treasure and Head Over Heels. There's this song by them called "Love's Easy Tears" (I originally put that is was "Carolyn's Fingers", but I was wrong). I don't like it, but I like the b-side to it called "Those Eyes, That Mouth".
I like The Velvet Underground, My Bloody Valentine, uber-catchy best-of-2002 radio rock like "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse, or "Slide" by Goo Goo Dolls. I like the songs "Cookie Thumper" by Die Antwoord, "Boss" by Robotic Pirate Monkey, "Mea Culpa" by David Byrne and Brian Eno (off their collab album My Life in the Bush of Ghosts), and the album Nowhere by Ride (I think that's what it's called, it's the one with "Vapour Trail" on it) is pretty good, but I honestly only really liked a few songs from it (but "Vapour Trail" and "Dreams Burn Down" are both extremely delightful, "Vapour Trail" may be my favorite song of all time (either that or "Pearly Dewdrops' Drops" by the Cocteau Twins)).
I like real creepy shit. Creepypasta, creepy Wikipedia articles, creepy audio recordings and songs, /r/nosleep/top. Anything creepy.
I like getting high. Smoking marijuana, tripping on DPH. I love psychedelia and surrealism. I love the way certain songs like shoegaze songs and Cocteau Twins songs make me feel like I'm on heroin.
I like pop like Katy Perry, Ke$ha, Gaga, etc.
I know, I'm all over the place, and this is going to be really fucking hard to read. I like a lot of stuff, not just what I listed, but what I listed is what I've been into recently.
Did I mention how much I lo
