Benedict IX became Pope at the age of 20. He had 3 pontificates: in 1044, he was exiled from Rome, only to return a year later and reclaim the Papacy, only to sell it to his Godfather and leave again, and finally, he seized power once more in 1047. He was deposed in 1048 and excommunicated in 1049. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pop…

The Worst Pope: Accusations against Benedict IX

I've been reading about Benedict IX online and been unsatisfied. Some articles portray him as a 'wicked' person, some as a young unqualified man thrust into a position he couldn't rise to. I was hoping for a more scholarly explaination of his life and papacy, especially on the following points:

  1. Were charges ever laid out against him all at once? Is there a list of all the crimes he'd supposedly committed? Are the the charges against him (sodomy/murder/gay orgies in the lateran palace...) a result of politics, or does it seem to have some footing in fact? The orgies seem like the sort of political slander you'd hear about ousted Roman emporers, and seems to take focus away from more vague accusations of murder and exile of political opponents.

  2. How is his family, the Counts of Tusculum, involved in the running of Rome and his papacy? Are they deeply embedded within the city government and church, or just wealthy neighbors making big bribes? Is he a tool of his family's political goals? If so, what are they?

  3. What are the protocols for papal election like at this point? How does Gregory VI become pope without an election? Surely he must have recieved some kind of consent from a body of Cardinals, and not just outright bought the papacy. His contemporaries seem to have too high of an opinion of him for this to have been the case.

Do you view the Ordinariates created by Pope Benedict XVI as a positive thing for the Church? Or as a negative thing?

Full disclosure: I’m currently in the middle of formally leaving my diocese to join the Ordinariate - so I’m a little biased lol

But for you personally, what do you think of this? For the first time, a large enough number of Protestants have entered into full communion corporately (Bishops, Priests, and laity) to warrant a special use of the Roman Rite.

Pope Benedict XVI specifically said he wants the Ordinariate to share some it’s spiritual heritage (Patrimony) as a β€œtreasure to be shared with the whole Church”.

I’m curious of what other Catholics think about the Ordinariate, thank you for your time!

The Vatican confirms the existence of aliens. Pope Benedict XVI: Aliens are our brothers! 2022

The role of the Vatican in the official disclosure of the existence of extraterrestrial life has recently entered a renewed focus, with two related developments on June 14, 2017. The first is an interfaith initiative of several world religious leaders, including Pope Francis, to promote friendship and unity between communities of diverse faith through a joint declaration. According to the secret space programs of the revealer Corey Goode, Pope Francis and other world leaders have been contacted by a group of four human-looking extraterrestrial civilizations that encourage them to unite, as a prelude to the establishment of a new global religion.

The second development was the synchronous launch on June 14 of an alleged Majestic Document-12 that describes four groups of aliens known to the military intelligence community, including one that looks human and friendly. He states that formal diplomatic relations began with the human-looking group during the Eisenhower administration and continue in secret to the present day. When it comes to the role of the Vatican and extraterrestrial life, it is important to note that the Catholic Church has long played a major role in secret diplomatic relations with aliens, dating back at least to the post-World War II era. This involved high-level cooperation with the US military intelligence community. It will become one of the many announcements of possible extraterrestrial revelation that will come and go in the coming decades, some of them involving the Vatican in a prominent role, as we shall see. In the U.S. American contractors. It is highly doubtful that the Vatican shared these goals of "great power," given its traditional focus on "soft power" in associating the church with progressive ideas such as social justice, the eradication of global poverty, religious tolerance, and so on. Secret diplomatic relations with the aliens have continued, according to the recently leaked Majestic 12 evaluation document. A meeting followed in July 1954, five months after the initial meeting at Edwards AFB Base. Here Eisenhower established full diplomatic relations with human-looking alien visitors. Decades later, in February 2008, the Catholic Church played a major role in the United Nations' secret talks on revealing the reality of extraterrestrial life. It has been said that as a res
