A list of puns related to "Point source pollution"
I'm trying to develop a project idea for my semester project in an introductory level GIS course. The project guidelines only require two maps to be produced with an associated paper.
I think I'd like to prioritize sub-catchments by potential to pollute in a small river watershed (thinking the Buffalo River in Arkansas due to its designation as a national park thinking more data will be available). I figure I can identify land use type then create a 100 foot buffer around the river, then prioritize catchments based on (1) total acreage, (2) length of stream bank with inadequate buffer, and (3) the length of stream banks with inadequate buffer in an area of agricultural use.
Still trying to get the juices flowing in my brain and hoping to get some feedback w/r/t useful data sources, other layers I could add, really anything at all. Keeping the project simple is key, however, as I'm not very experience at all, and the professor does not expect anything earth shattering.
What models have you used or do you use?
This should go for plastics, toxic materials, or anything else that is a source of pollution. The cost of clean up should be covered by the people producing the products like plastic containers that go into the ocean. This would also increase the likelihood they will come up with packaging that is less harmful to the environment. Recycling programs do help but they often are not profitable enough and in some cases contribute more to the problem than to help solve it. The levels of plastics in the oceans are ridiculous. Itβs time for change.
> For more than 50 years, global production and consumption of plastics have continued to rise. An estimated 299 million tons of plastics were produced in 2013, representing a 4 percent increase over 2012, and confirming and upward trend over the past years.(See: Worldwatch Institute β January 2015). In 2008, our global plastic consumption worldwide has been estimated at 260 million tons, and, according to a 2012 report by Global Industry Analysts, plastic consumption is to reach 297.5 million tons by the end of 2015.

Hey,
I have an open-source project called WatchVideoByLink, I'm currently struggling to attract people to view and use my repo or help contribute toward the project.
I've taken steps like promoting my project and updating the readme. This seems to help people discover my repo but there isn't much engagement happening, at least from what I can see.
My question is how do I increase engagement and attract the right people that will help contribute to the project?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
