A list of puns related to "Photodex"
Woh, this project has, uh, been a cool thing! It's been forever ago since the best buddy dex started. At this point, we have nearly caught up to all the currently released mons in the game!!! That's wild...... Anyways, we set up a crowd-sourced database of sorts for viewing what Pokemon look like when they have their Best Buddy Ribbon! The post is about to be archived yet again...again...again, so I figured that it's time to post this again...again...again so people can still submit their pics!
You can find the link to it here: http://www.photodex.io/bestbudspkmn
Click/tap each pic to cycle through all the shots we have for that species!
Post a link to your pic on this thread or in a DM to me (bonus swag points for a cool AR shot)! As of posting, we've got a whopping 679 different species on it. Thank you very much to everyone who contributed!!!!! <3
Here's a text list of all of the mons and alt forms we still need! :)
Note: Generally speaking... it's not necessary to get shiny/non-shiny/shadow/etc versions of all the mons we need... it gets way too much to keep track of (and the free flickr plan only supports 1k imgs eheh), so whichever comes first is fine! We also haven't really accepted costume forms in the past, since there usually isn't a difference in the ribbon location...but we are running out of things to add so maybe I could be convinced :)
Note 2: Things that are italicized are not yet currently released in-game.

Also reading requests will help you find PokΓ©mon! Requests are a nice bonus that is very optional. I just thank Bandai for putting it into the game.
I have friends that play Snap but none of them show up when I try to view their scores. Is anyone else having this problem?
There better be a fine prize for that!
UPDATED AFTER TESTING- SEE COMMENTS
Basically I want to know what happens besides the Photodex update. I could test this myself but I figured someone else had probably done this already so I could just ask.
To be clear, as an example, if you have a photo thatβs 4200 points and you get one thatβs now 4100 (or anything less). If you choose the photo with the less points when youβre given the option to pick your previous photo or current one.
Do points get removed from your research level? Can you then reclaim those points on a different course? Any info you have would be appreciated.
Edit: tested this and updated comments with results. Hope this helps someone that may have been curious.
For all my fellow completionists out there... I can't build apps but I can do Spreadsheets pretty well, so here's my excel PhotoDex, all color coded to share!

TL;DR - track your diamond photos and your research requests, filter by level or pokemon, do zero math yourself, profit. download a copy for yourself and make sure you have macros enabled! also this is baby's first reddit post, so please be kind... Details below!
I'm coming from the OG game and I have adhd, so keeping track of all the pics and requests and courses and research levels was basically impossible... so I set up all the formulas on the cover sheet so it automatically calculates how much you have complete:
[photo ID: screen shot of cover sheet]
(In order) The cover sheet calculates what percentage of diamond photos you have complete overall, what percentage of complete diamond pages you have complete (or, what percentage of pokemon you have all four diamond photos of), what percentage of the research requests you have complete overall, and then what percentage of research requests you have complete by region.
The second sheet has all the pokes in the dex (so, spoilers if you haven't finished the main story line) and also shows what courses and levels each poke appears on-
[photo ID: screen shot of second sheet, showing pokemon list and courses]
I'm marking each pokemon with an x in the column when I get a diamond star, and as you update it, it will automatically change the highlight to show you when you've got all diamonds on that pokemon's page.
[photo ID: close up of diamond star tracker, only bouffalant highlighted]
[photo ID: same close up, scorbunny is now also highlighted]
The last sheet has all the research requests, and generally how to beat them (so again, spoilers, if you have

Always bugs me when I take a picture that's a high score but looks worse than what I already have in the Photodex. Is there a downside to keeping pictures in the photodex that aren't diamond stars/highest points? I wish the Photodex score at the top right of the entries reflected only the top scoring photos ever and not the ones saved (since we know the game already has a hidden database that keeps track of that, or at least I heard).
Just capturing a photo of every pokΓ©mon, not every star rating. Wondering if it's worth doing or not
Hey all!
I've been on my own personal quest to get all diamond photographs, so I built this tool (based on a simpler version made by a friend of mine) that I thought you might find useful. It has a lot of nice features and stats that you might find useful as well as you attempt to uncover the secrets of the Lental region!
Here is a link to the base spreadsheet. It should be fairly easy to make a copy of this document to make changes. You only need to record a value 1-4 in each cell to indicate that you've snapped a Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Diamond photo, respectively.
Some features:
I made this for my personal purposes, but I'm hoping it can be helpful for you. If you want to see what one looks like filled out to see if it can be helpful for you, here is mine.
I am looking for a comparable program to ProShow Gold. I have used the software in years past for memorial slideshows for several family members' passing. I went this morning to check for ProShow Gold, a newer version, and much to my dismay the company is offically closed as of the 31st of January, 2020.
I need to create this in the next three days so I really do not have time to shuffle through a bunch of garbage apps that will only waste what little time I do have. I still have to gather photos from relatives and process them so they will be suitable.
Free is great, but I do not mind paying under 80 USD or so for something that will meet my needs.
Thanks, Reddit!!!!!
I have created a website to display AR snaps in a "PhΓ³todex". It pulls in pictures from a Flickr album and displays them in a PokΓ©dex arrangement.
I hope you like it! You can check it out here: https://www.photodex.io/
That has all of the instructions to set one up yourself, but I am also happy to answer any questions. π
My own PhotΓ³dex is here: https://www.photodex.io/JTAtomico
There better be a damn fine prize for that! I love this game!
EDIT 12/3/2020: Hi people from the future:
