A list of puns related to "Philosophy Tube"
Your choices:
So last night, a video was presented to me by the algorithm where this apparent philosophy professor who goes by the Youtube name Carefree Wanderer was criticising one of Abi's pre-transition videos. It wasn't a personal attack or anything and he made some decent points that came across as very fair when talking about how Youtube creators commodify philosophy.
But now I'm seeing more and more videos of his getting recommended and the titles and thumbnails seem to be turning more oppositional. I haven't watched the videos because I dont really care to. I like Abi's content and believe it has been very valuable to me and others in a lot of ways.
Just wondering if anyone else has watched Carefree Wanderer's critiques as they seem fairly recent and what the general vibe of it is. Thanks for replying :)
I just saw the lastest video of Philosophy Tube about Islamophobia, and i gotta be honest with you, i think that the left has a serious problem when it comes to Islam discourse, yes, Islamophobia is bad, but she really needs a more nuanced approach, there are really fundamental differences between Western democracy and radical islam, and pretending that this issue doesn't exists is not really helpful like she does, idk maybe to have millionares from Qatar and other countries promoting salafism into the west may be a little problematic... Who knows... I am just saying that there is a way of saying... Yes.. Discrimination against muslims is wrong, but also... Radical islam also wrong
This more about me being fucking stupid. I just recently subscribed and started watching some older videos and was wondering where Abigail was and how similar her style is to this personβs. It clicked in the Antisemitism video when I noticed that they both have the same last name and the comments were all about Abigail. In that sudden realization I had a kind of vicarious sense of gender euphoria and just a tiny bit, a little little bit teared up. Okay maybe more than a little.
Thatβs all. I just want to say how much I appreciate Abigailβs existence and the fact that she has a channel to spread ideas and understanding.
Edit: my bad, I shouldβve read the rules
Especially regarding mediums such as video content, as that would show who they were before they knew they were trans or had started transitioning. You wouldn't have called them by their new name or pronouns before their transition; do you apply those when looking at their works in hindsight/later on in time? I want to be respectful to those people.
Hey!
I'm looking for a qoute that been quoted in the show, it's in the line of 'who are in position of power decide what kind of questions are asked'
I believe it's by Austrian/German/British philosopher
I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out, and i truly apologise if it's not the right place to ask.
I'd like to hear your perspective on this. Apart from the topic if you think how/if Islam should even be defended by western leftists in the first place, I'm personally really surprised how... shallow it was. Sure, it's Philosophy Tube and not History Tube or Sociology Tube, BUT it was basically exclusively about (white people in) Anglo countries post 9/11 with a bit of critique of (late stage) Bri'ish colonialism sprinkled in.
Anything substancial about Muslim majority countries? Nope.
Muslims in India or China? Name dropped, that's it.
Continental Europe? The genocide in Bosnia was mentioned, almost out of context without any real connection to anything in Europe, that's it.
The last one is especially weird considering that "Western Islamophobia" was the implied topic here. There's a very hot debate in France (relationship between state and religion, like always) and the relationship of Southern and Central Europe to Islam is especially long and complicated.
I felt like the whole video has little to nothing to do with the reality of most non-Muslim people living with Muslims and not much more to say than "General suspicion bad" (duh).
