A list of puns related to "Pawnee (Parks and Recreation)"
Tired of putting up with Sportacus, Robbie Rotten has left Lazy Town for Pawnee Indiana. This all takes place right before the first episode of season 2 of Parks and Recreation. He has moved his entire lair and all of his equipment into a cave underneath the pit Leslie Knope is determined to make into a park. Robbie has watched the first season of Parks and Recreation and knows of Leslie's plans to improve Pawnee. Can Robbie successfully sabotage the parks department enough to to get Leslie fired and can he keep Pawnee fourth most obese town in America?
Edit: Bonus- Robbie gets his team.
Jim and Ben face
I literally just walked out of a monthly planning meeting. I got to hear words like "Master Plan" and "Zoning Board" and talk about what we can do to get our youth interested in Earth Day.
I listened to a report for 2 scouts working on Eagle Scout trail projects. And will be hands on helping a local girl scout who is working on PUTTING IN A DOG PARK ON THE VACANT LOT owned by Parks and Rec!!.
I sat next to our version of Jeremy Jamm, who arrived in his red Lamborghini, having missed the last meeting after spending all of February in Florida... When we talked about pavilion rentals, (I'm not being hyperbolic) he chimed in to say we should remove all the trash cans because it costs too much to empty them and people should just just take all their trash home with them. THEN he also went on to suggest that we should look into adding a Helipad next to the soccer field.
I volunteered to coordinate our first ever "Chili Classic" in celebration of our local hardware store's 75th anniversary this fall. Which will be part community celebration, part Parks fundraiser. I also had to answer a request that the Library be allowed to set up a table at our event. I'm not looking to start a feud, so I agreed. Government Gals!
Guys, all of this monotonous, seemingly insignificant, small town talk has me genuinely giddy because of my love and respect for Leslie Knope. Schur, it might be weird to have so much real life love for a fictional character, but I am a better person because of that show. My patience and and tolerance for the crazy and the complainers has increased through there lens of comedy! I plan to work hard and work worth doing and making my town a great place to live.
Oh and I just learned that a new breakfast cafe is opening just outside my neighborhood. Generally I'm more of a bacon and eggs girl, but I think I'm going to learn to love waffles. <3
IF YOU LIKE THE OFFICE YOU ARE BORING. LESLIE KNOPE - QUEEN OF PAWNEE
please settle our mod debate
My wife and I moved here about two years ago. After re watching Parks and Rec we noticed a lot of similarities between Pawnee and Evansville. Anyone else believe this?
So I've been watching a lot of "Parks and Rec" lately and have come to the conclusion that Ron is not just a mentor to April, but also her dad. Think about for a sec, when she quits the job as Ron's assistant, Ron shows up at her house to ask her to come back. After she finally accepts she tells him she knows he also moonlights as "Duke Silver," Pawnee sax player at a local bar and she only knows this because her mom has all his albums. What if he and her mom had a one night stand and April was the result? Not too mention that their personalities are almost identical. Anyways, I'm rambling now and would love to hear what you guys think.
Their season 2 staff get a month to study their new jobs and responsibilities.
After a month, Ron becomes the new regional manager of Dunder Mifflin's Scranton branch, and Michael Scott is appointed the new Pawnee parks director, both taking their respective staff with them to fill in the jobs in their new offices.
Which team accomplishes more in a year?
Team Dunder Mifflin
Michael - can beat Dwight in a fight, and everyone loves & sorta does what he says.
Jim - master tactician and is a true friend and leader. Can devise pranks on the fly.
Dwight - weapons master and can take anyone but Michael.
Pam - is the master spy for the Scranton branch and has similar abilities to Jim.
Stanley - no shits given but is very, VERY scary.
Phyllis, Angela, and Meredith - victory party planners and medics.
Oscar - intelligence
Creed - a possible serial killer. But is loyal.
Kevin - the guy that makes good chilli.
The warehouse crew - the heavy weapons people. Because they have the forklift
Andy - useless version of Dwight.
Erin - no.
Ryan - computer guy. But he's useless.
Toby - negotiations.
Kelly - same as Oscar but puts her own opinion into the intelligence.
Robert California - the sexual sniper.
Jan - almost as scary as Stanley. Has power though.
Mose Shrute - a master builder of all things cool. Can make spud guns. He also has some kind of PTSD so that kinda sucks.
Team Pawnee
Ron - almost Dwight but doesn't have the raw power of Dwight. Also a good builder and Hunter.
Lessle - gets shit done. In one way or another.
Andy - literally a man child, but is a good bard.
April - unlike Stanley from team Dunder Mifflin she sort of gives a shit, but that makes her just as scary.
Jerry - does things no one knows behind the scenes, Albeit not very well.
Ann - medic.
Ben - accountant. That's it.
Donna - similar to Lessle, but gives no shits.
Mark - negotiations.
Chris - sort of leader.
Tom - pervy, but he can do cool business things.
Craig - No.
So, in the words of Boomstick from death battle, LETS GET TO A DEATH BATTLE!!!! BEGIN!!
This may sound stupid but I've seen both The Office and Parks and Recreation and it was a pretty interesting idea that both share the same universe. I was thinking that maybe Ann Perkins decided to leave Pawnee, Indiana to start a new life in Stamford which was then transferred to Scranton. Plus, Champion was in an episode which I taught was interesting.
I just wanted to see Dwight as the new manager pulling a sale for the Pawnee office. And Dwight, seeing Anne Perkins, keeps calling her Karen, until she finally confesses that she has been in witness protection and had to get a new identity and learn a whole new career.
-OR-
Dwight trying to be more rustic and outdoorsy than Ron Swanson.
Fan theory: The tv show Good Girls is a prequel to parks and rec for how Donna came to be the way she is.
#spoilers
Think about it. Donna for the most part remained quiet about her past in parks and rec. Though she did give hints and small insights into her life before, not much further detail was given.
What if her life before Parks and rec was a life of crime and when she wanted out she went into witness protection which placed her in Pawnee. There she was set up to work a normal job in a small rural town far away from the life she once knew.
The friends she made in Pawnee also resemble those of her crime partners in Michigan. An immature young adult and a stereotyped socialite.
What happened to the kid and husband in good girls? The husband left and took the child away from her after figuring out her life of crime.
Maybe Iβm pulling strings, but still.....
Can someone name me a list of good episodes to watch?
I used to be a HUGE fan of Parks and Recreation, right up there with The Office, and I would watch it all the time. But now, I can barely watch one episode before tuning out. I initially couldn't understand why, but now I think I know.
The world of Parks and Recreation is not at all relatable.
When I watch The Office, on some level I can identify with the world. While the main cast is pretty zany, they work in an everyday context, at a boring, soul-crushing job. Everyone has been there. The situations are a little more relatable too. Michael is constantly searching for his place in the world, and Jim and Pam go through problems that every couple does.
The emotions in The Office feel real. And as you watch, you see these people take real risks and make sacrifices. Jim gets to work at the Philly startup, but it causes him massive marital strife with Pam. Michael gets to marry Holly eventually, but he faced a lot of heartbreak and confusion along the way. Pam doesn't become the professional artist she wanted to be, but she made a compromise with herself and found a happy medium between her art, her work, and her family. Dwight and Angela are much the same. They get their happy ending, but they have to work for it.
And the people on The Office get in their own way a lot. Jim's pranks prevent him from being taken seriously by Charles. Dwight's authoritarian tendencies cost him the title of Acting Manager. and god knows how many times Michael has fucked up his own life. But despite these mistakes the characters make, they learn and get better, and we get invested.
In Parks and Recreation, there is almost none of this, especially in the later seasons. Anything remotely real or relatable is distorted and cartoonized beyond recognition. And character goals and motivations aren't things we can relate to either. Leslie wants to be apresident someday. Ron just wants to be grumpy and alone. Tom wants to be some millionaire. These ambitions don't feel like adult's goals, they feel like kid's goals.
The other thing on Parks and Rec is that everything works out, and no one ever has to sacrifice anything. There are no defeats, there aren't even any phyrric victories. Any problem that comes up is quickly vanquished. For example, in the episode "Live Ammo", Leslie makes a new budget allocation. But since she made this allocation, the local animal shelter can no longer stay open. An experienced politician tells her that the stakes are higher now, and that she need
