One thing the caretaker is good at in his music is establishing a haunting atmosphere, and I think this atmosphere is at its best in Patience After Sebald. The static and crackles can even sound different to me in every track, sometimes sounding like heavy rainfall, or footsteps in tall grass. And of course there's the booming reverb of pianos, and the chilling calls of reversed singing. There's even some tracks where the music sounds distant or in another room. This is the case with most caretaker albums, but Patience After Sebald in particular has the spookiest ambience. The way I describe it is like sitting alone at a bus stop at night, but its too late in the night for anyone else to be around, the dim light of the street lamp turning everything darker around you. I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts because Patience After Sebald doesnt get talked about enough

The mixtape contains a few mixes that The Caretaker didn't choose for the original album. I know it was free to download on Bandcamp, but that was 8 years ago. I know that the entire album is sampled after Schubert's Winterreise, but listening through it I couldn't find this leitmotif anywhere. Where is it?
It was alright, but the last section was a real out of nowhere horror. I enjoyed the (mostly) soothing sounds throughout the pieces but still prefer more vibrant/active pieces such as camaraderie at arms length or even pieces from selected memories. Pretty good though, I must admit
I tried listening to Patience (After Sebald), and I can't hear the hisses that are supposed to be the focus of the album. I could hear it in the first track, but not in the others. I suspect it might be caused by my hearing loss, which severely impacts my ability to hear higher-pitched sounds. Is there anything I could do about this?
I recently read W. G. Sebalds "After Nature“ and really enjoyed its melancholy but poetical tone. Can you suggest me other fictional works about the human destruction of/relation to nature, possibly in a similar style to Sebalds?
Final edit(Moving this to the top, original post follows): I'm on my lunch so I figured Id chime back in. I figure it's safe to wager that the upvotes on this post correlate with the number of people who agree with my particular opinion. A lot of people also seem to not give a shit about cosmetics, which is cool because clearly that would make the game more fun for you. But what people who keep commenting to just play the game and forget about cosmetics, you're forgetting that a) the game was marketed on it's customization which just turned out to be a big fat lie, and b) the game was release without co-op, forge, firefight and so much more, including the inability to play the damn mode you want.
So I don't have the patience for this game. I don't have the patience to grind challenges, even with the lackluster xp fixes. I don't have the patience to wait for the modes I want, or the fixes the game needs, or for the devs to say something other than complaining about how mean the community is.
So yeah, this is me venting, and yes, at least 6k other people are venting with me on this post alone. And yes, given my options and time, I'm going to play other games that are more rewarding and less of a grind and not Halo.
We expected a lot from the future of Halo games, more than some pretty good gameplay on a handful of maps and modes, and this isn't it. Glad it is for some of you though.

I recognize that I'm most likely not the target audience for this game, younger people these days definitely have more time, money, and willingness to grind this game than I do.
The worst thing Halo did was go free to play for multiplayer. They promised us an amazing experience, and instead we got, well we all know what we got.
I have a full time job, I go to the gym, I take my fiance out on dates. I don't have time for challenges. I don't have time for a second job just to unlock the little armor color I want.
When I'm home and have an hour or so to play a game, I'm going to play what's actually fun and feels like I'm actually progressing. And I can't even customize my spartan properly? The free rewards of the battle pass are a joke.
It seems like the devs assumed that people with full schedules every day weren't going to play Halo anyway, and it's a self fulfilling prophecy. When you build a game that requires more hours in a day than my actual job to make any noti

I bought this back in June for $16. Not sure if that is the lowest, but the soundtrack is pretty great and can't go wrong with Neil Young. The sucker has been out of stock even way before that, but ordered it anyway since that's the lowest I've seen. Other stores have had it for $25 for more, right now it's going for about $20 on discogs. This isn't over important news, but wanted to share with everyone because I'm excited!
I ordered from Amazon even one month before and they cancelled orders left and right, but this one hung in there and not sure exactly why except it shipped.
