A full nuclear exchange of the worst sort that everyone has ever feared occurs. Even then, some people would survive even if civilization is basically fucked. I would imagine that just due to random chance some wizards would survive. This question is not asking if some wizards survive, but rather is asking if magical society as a whole survives?
