A list of puns related to "Newstead House, Brisbane"
I was hoping to be able to plant gardenia and jasmine just for the fragrance through my apartment but not sure if the gardenia will survive.
Do you have any tips or fragrant plants that would thrive on my balcony?
I went through the process last year and it was not fun. Thankfully we found a house that suited us and we are now happily renovating (ok happy most of the time).
I'm clearing out my bookmarks and have this folder of links that are useful when doing your due diligence on property before making an offer or going to auction.
This is by no means an exhaustive description of the process. You can find that elsewhere. Just thought I'd share the Brisbane specific resources I've accumulated over the past year.
Since there appears to be some confusion in the comments... All nine resources are free websites.
When doing property research, you can use ING's free property report tool to get the CoreLogic appraisal for the property. https://www.propertyvalue.com.au/ing
Want to see photos of the area or the house to find out how old the house is, whether it has been extended etc.? Use the Queensland Globe or QImagery.
Use the Urban Utilities GIS map to find out what infrastructure may be underneath the property. Sewerage lines and/or manholes can have big implications for what you can with the property. Here
Want to see what development applications have been lodged with council for the property or the surrounds? Use Development.i.
Want to check the zoning of your property to see what special conditions there might be on the land / house or surrounds? Use the Brisbane City Council City Plan viewer.
Like planes? Hate planes? Use this flight path viewer (however it does not included smaller aircraft, they can fly wherever they like).
Check the internet type available at the property.
If you care about school catchments, use this map.
Some other general tips:
Brisbane steaming ahead.. must be a lot of people still buying up here.. But how long can Brisbane keep up house price rises?
What does 2022-2023 look like for Bris?
On track for 2.9% growth this month.
Bit of a rant but just feeling a bit helpless with how the housing market has been travelling recently.
My partner and I are a young couple who were just getting into position to buy our first house after years of hard saving and living here all our lives. All of a sudden its just gotten out of control. With all the cashed up southerners escaping lockdown driving up the prices, it feels like that QLD dream of owning your own house with a yard and a dog is getting farther and farther away every day. I find myself actively resenting people driving cars with NSW or VIC number plates nowadays, something I never did before.
Guess its off to the country we go at this rate.
Iβm currently living in Newstead and needing to move due to being surrounded by new apartment construction. I love the lifestyle of walking by the river, to the supermarket and all the cafe and restaurant options. Also have a dog and Newstead is very dog-friendly (but the construction is terrible and seems never ending). Iβm torn about staying in the area or moving to another riverside inner-city suburb. West End is attractive because of the river, parks and growing cafes, but Iβm worried about safety and walkability, and that maybe I will end up driving everywhere if it doesnβt feel safe at night for walking. Would love perspectives from anyone who has lived in both areas! Thank you!

Here it is - all the houses we don't know about it. The 'Home Sweet Home' album is full of all our photos of Housing Commission homes from around Brisbane and beyond. Most of them we know nothing about. We hope you guys can help us identify them!
Jump over to our Home Sweet Home album, click through to your suburb, and if you recognise any of the houses, leave a comment on Flickr or here on Reddit so we can add the info to our catalogue.
PS: Don't forget to click through to our biggest category at the end - Unknown!
