A list of puns related to "National curriculum"
In Turkey they favor Ali. Muawiya and Umayyads in general are heavily criticized and shitted on. it also glorifies Abbasids and three caliph.
If there is someone that has experienced both sides and could give me an insight, Please let me know in the comments or discord Apurba#9817. I'd like to know the pros and cons and differences before switching, Anyone from English medium that can answer even a little bit, Lemme know
He's really gutted and he cried real hard when he saw his report card because we know and saw first-hand (home schooling via Zoom with his class due to Covid) that he worked really hard this year. Alas, it wasn't enough to at least get him on the minimum blue bar.
Will this affect his uni prospects? At a mere 10 years old, we feel the system is already relegating him to mediocrity.
Can someone who was below the curriculum back in primary but still ended up getting into uni, graduating and overall just being successful share their story? We think it would really boost him if he sees others like him who still ended up going into uni and making it in life.
EDIT: Thank you all for sharing and even providing some stern advice. I....I just needed to get it out and talk to someone about it and to also acquire some ideas for positive reinforcement for him AND for me.
Also, a bit of revelation that would explain my overthinking, over-stressing and fear; I only finished a 2-year Diploma Course in Computer Programming from a community college. I never got anywhere with that. Now, I drive forklifts / reach trucks for a living.
So, do you all understand now my fear? My resentments? My frustrations with regards to education? My fear regarding the phrase "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"?
Anyways, thank you again for everyone's input. All of you. Thank you.
EDIT 2: So I let this topic simmer a bit to build up replies and I've read all of them now. Thank you again, everyone. Really. Everyone's words of wisdom and sharing of their personal experiences. I've learned a lot which I will collate, rephrase and pass on to my son. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
As we all know, the SNC has been hotly debated not only on r/pakistan, but also on Twitter, television (the infamous Hoodbhoy vs Mariam Chughtai debates), etc etc. I think that until now there has been little written about the actual issues and the actual content in the SNC and the focus has been more on more frivolous issues.
Well, I recently came across a series of articles by Dr Anjum Altaf who was formerly the Dean of the school of social sciences in LUMS. He is going through each book in SNC one by one and reviewing them:
https://sindhcourier.com/single-national-curriculum-review-of-model-textbooks-part-xii/
You can access the previous parts from the bottom of the page. And he is continuously adding more reviews. I especially like his review on 'zero' (I believe that is part III).
Before you disagree with his criticism on the basis on him being 'elitist', part of the LUMS crowd, do keep in mind that Mariam Chughtai, the architect of SNC, is herself a professor at LUMS:P
I'm from the Philippines so for Grade 7 - 10, our subjects are already fixed. And for Grade 11 - 12, we have to choose a strand and each strand has fixed subjects already.
Apparently, top Universities like the Ivies prefer those who show "course rigor" but how can I show course rigor if my classes are already fixed? (meaning we can't choose)
Dual enrollment isn't possible here (I've inquired from some local Universities) and if I do get college credit, I'm automatically disqualified to some major scholarships here in my country (CHED, DOST, etc.).
I've already considered AP classes but they're too expensive. I've heard about IBs but to be honest I'm not entirely sure what those are, or if they're even helpful.
I am taking the SAT though, and so far I've maintained 95+% grades.
Any tips to show course rigor though?
Lets put it in the last year of compulsory schooling with no restrictions on age limits.

Hi all I'm in a bit of a crisis at the moment.
I am a South African student who has been accepted into a German university and noticed my address is spelt wrong on my CV for my national visa application. I spelt my street name with a extra letter just for example instead of "Tenth Street 2" I wrote "Tennth Street 2". On my application form I have the correct spelling and it is just on this document. What can I do as I do not have access to a computer to correct it and 4 hours way from my own personal one. My interview is tomorrow morning at 10:50.
Your help is greatly appreciated as I don't have anyone close to me with knowledge on the situation.
Seems like they would be more useful than learning something like French, German or Spanish since these are languages within our own country. Like I always thought it was crazy that when you cross the border from England to Wales, you have people struggling to pronounce the place names...
Its also part of our shared cultural heritage and this would encourage more and more people to use it as a first language.
