Münster Rebellion And psychedelics

I’ve recently been fascinated with the events of the anabaptist Münster Rebellion And can’t help but think what could cause a mass of anabaptist to act in such a euphoric hysterical way. While Jan Mithaas was having prophetic visions the townsfolk seem to share in his visions. Could it be possible that they ingested a form of ergot? It’s been reported that the town was known to go into hystrical fits hundred of them. Did someone intentionally slip something in the kool aid or was it more of an accident? Or was their fanaticism so extreme it brought on episodes of euphoria and ecstasy? Also I recognize that Jan Matthys most likely was legitimately crazy but I feel like his second in command Jan van Leiden was not crazy but using his charisma to hold on to his new found de facto power. The follower Knipperdolling and Rothmann seem to have been more Canniving politicking and calculating in their movements. What was the end goal? If they didn’t truely believe the message why would they hold out so long? Were they in too deep? I realize there might never be a right answer but I’d like y’all to discuss it in the comment section below

What would have happened if the The Münster Rebellion had succeed?

In 1534 attempts were made to turn munster into a anabatist psydo communist city were wealth was shared out and all people were equal. What would have happened if munster was held as a stronghold for these ideals? How would have that changed the face of chrisimdom and the world ?

Can anyone recommend some decent sources of information on the Münster Rebellion?

I've recently become mildly obsessed with the Münster Rebellion after reading the fantastic fiction book Q by Luther Blissett. Can anyone recommend any sources (tv, radio, books, translated and digitized primary sources, journal articles) for further information on this? I've already listened to Dan Carlin's podcast on it and I'm currently reading Anthony Arthur's book The Tailor King but I'd love to find out even more.

(To clarify I don't have access to JSTOR and my German is rudimentary at best and definitely not up to the task of reading medieval German!)

What happened to the Bones from the Münster Church Cages after the rebellion of 1534?

After Münster rebellion was over and the city was re-captured there was a trail and execution in 1536. Three people where tortured and executed in the marketplace of Münster, John von Leiden, Bernhard Knipperdolling and Bernhard Krechting. There bodies where placed in iron cages and put on the steeple of St. Lambert's Church.

Now in all the information i have found it is said that the bones where removed 50 years later. My question is what happened to these bones? I can find no reference or any information on the topic of the bones 50 years later other than they where removed

TLDR: What happened to the bones in the Münster church cages put up in 1536? Only info out there was they where removed from the cages, Nothing on what happened or why.

Is there any real evidence of hallucinogenic fungi/substances being a contributing factor in events such as the Salem witch trials or the Münster Rebellion?

I've heard it mentioned that some people believe some of the really outrageous happenings connected to these events may have been linked to the consumption of rye infected with the Claviceps purpurea fungus. Just curious if there's any real evidence of this fungus playing a major role in historical events or if that's more of a random theory people have thrown out. Thanks!

Looking for reference materials detailing how people looked like during the Münster Rebellion

I'm currently in the process of developing a video game about the Münster Rebellion and I would like for the in-game characters to be looking accurate to their historical counterparts, from the clothes the stranded peasants wore to the armor and weaponry the soldiers donned.

My current reference stream is merely googling the subject and attempting to verify the credibility of sources from there. I was wondering if you may have any recommendations for references which provide more information about the subject.

Also, I understand that 1500s Münster citizens may look similar or the same as other people from different eras, if so, from which particular century and places? Knowing this will help broaden my search and possibly allow access to more reference materials.

Thank you very much!

What if the Münster Rebellion didn't fail.

Lets say the ''Apostles'' they sent out to get more Ana-baptists to fight had worked? Lets say the brought a few thousand Ana-Baptists from around Europe and flanked the attacking army? What would happen from here? Would the slowly roll over Europe with the Ana-Baptist religion like they planned?

For those who don't know of this! Both worth a look! Wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M%C3%BCnster_Rebellion

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat

But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.

For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I said "hey look, an escaPEA"

No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
