Anyone have a Mother of Vinegar they don't mind sharing a piece of?
This is a bit of a specialty thing but I'm interested in making my own vinegar so I figured I'd ask in case anyone wants to help out a beginner. It'd save me some time, but if no one has one I'll make my own.

Did my apple cider vinegar with the mother go bad? I bought couple of bottles a few months ago to help with digestion and weight loss. Itβs stored under sunlight. Is this the cause? Can I still use it? (Iβve shaken the bottle for the photo)

How do I know when my vinegar is done? I diluted wine to 7-8% abv and added 20% acv. There are mothers, still smells a little winey but tastes great. Not a tremendous amount of strong acidity but itβs there. Also, what do I do with the mothers. I have about 8.

Questions about my Apple Cider Vinegar Mother(s) - Mother Sunk; Is it possible for a Second Mother to form...?
Hey there; 2 questions:
One of My homemade apple cider vinegars was forming a healthy mother when my picking up the jar dislodged it and made it sink to the bottom.
- Will this first mother βsuffocateβ or is it okay that it fell?
Then, I went out of town for 2 nights and came back to another film forming on top.
2. Is it possible for a second mother to be forming on top? If so will it snuff out the original? Should I let it be?
Sorry this is more like 5 questions! Will post a picture link shortly ~

It looks like it, but usually I just see a disc shaped object. This one has another flowery looking growth as well. This is an old bottle of organic red wine vinegar but the Best Before date is still in the future (Jan 2020).
Does this mean I can make my own vinegar now?

(Q)Apple Cider Vinegar - The Mother or Mold?
I know, the mother is supposed to look scummy, I looked up pictures of ACV mother and I still don't know how to tell the difference between the mother and mold (don't really know what scummy looks like either xD).Is it the mother or mold? Thanks! :)

EDIT: Okay I just took a couple more pictures, I temporarily exposed the apples to air to get these, also it's been exactly 3 weeks incase that helps determine what it should look like at that time.
Then here's the jar I'm using to hold the apples down, it's got perhaps the same stuff growing on it.

Tried making vinegar for the first time and a mother actually formed on top, I didn't think it would work! What do I do now?
Basically I had wine leftover that didn't taste that good because it was a few days old, so I added a few tablespoons of live apple cider vinegar I had in the back of my cabinet. I stirred it every once in awhile, and after a couple weeks now I found a thick solid film on top that I'm assuming is the mother. What do I do now?
I put a top on it to stop the fermentation, but should I also put it in the fridge? Do I remove the mother at some point? Does the fact that the mother formed mean the vinegar is about done or should I let it ferment a little longer? I know nothing, please help!

LPT: if youβre cooking something and have already added enough salt but itβs still βmissing something,β add some lemon/lime juice or a splash of vinegar.
Often times the βthingβ that the dish is missing is acidity and a small splash of something acidic can really add a lot of depth to a dish.
Edit: people keep saying βor just add this.β What I mean is that if you have already added all additional spices/flavor/fat to the dish, and it still feels like itβs missing something, then look to add something acidic. Not just salt and vinegar lol.

$1.79 at Albertsons? I think yes. Great vinegar vibes and sweetness coming out right on top of it, just was hoping it'd be spicier. If you want a definite hint of heat i'd put something with it but it's going great with these frozen cheesy pretzels lol
