I really want to make my own and combine ideas from my favorite virtual pet games as a child, but I know it would take time and I’m not sure if there would even be market for them in a few years.

I tried to look into the market but I’m not really sure if there any modern virtual pet mmorpg games? Most of them seemed to die due to lack of revenue, but I’m not sure if thats because the market disappeared or because a lot of them failed to keep up with modern technology (like going mobile successfully).

I’m curious what you all think about these style of games.

Edit: I suppose maybe it’s better off for me to focus on a simple single player kids questing game with cute pets + characters. I realize MMOs are fairly impractical to make and the type of market I would need break into seems to not be ideal. I do not want to make a game with a ton of micro-transactions..

I guess my goal is to make a bright and fun game that will introduce children to rpg/questing games. I’d like it cute, simple, and no violence or combat. Thinking I’ll look at a game like Yonder but make it more kid friendly and make all the characters animal like.
