A list of puns related to "Modic changes"
On my MRI, it says under impression βAt T8-T9, there is bone marrow edema and disc flattening, likely related to Modic type I change. Iβm not familiar with Modic changes at all, if anyone can provide feedback?
I also have a 2 mm right lateral recess disc herniation at T9-T10 and 2 mm disc herniation at the left lateral recess level at T10-T11.
I have thoracic pain here and there, not constant, so do you think the thoracic pain is from the herniations, or the Modic changes?
Thank you!
Nobody in America is Talking about solutions about the painful modic changes I and Modic Changes II seen on your MRI. But Why? The answer shouldn't be too surprising
37M, 71β, 190lbs, athletic/fit build, no recreational drug use, limited alcohol intake, non smoker. A few years back I was diagnosed with type I modic changes to my t7-t9 along with a schmorlβs node protruding up on my t10. This was a work related injury of catching heavy equipment falling at a very odd angle. I do love with the pain each day and take ibuprofen/acetaminophen as needed. The pain is equivalent, most days, to really needing to crack your knuckles. This radiates, at times, across the ribs into my sternum.
Iβve googled myself into oblivion over this and have come to find itβs much less common in the thoracic portion of the spine and was basically told that Iβve worn out my back. Good luck and most likely end up in a wheel chair someday because no surgery will help.
Almost all doctors/physical therapists I have talked to about this have usually never heard of modic changes. The one that did is the one that basically said, βthat sucks.β The internet, and Iβm grossly paraphrasing, basically says physical therapy is the only thing that will help. There was a study of taking antibiotics for a year that sounded promising but Iβm not able to do something along those lines in my profession but will happily press for it IF the chance of the outcome is favorable. What is the long term prognosis for this condition and what are things I can do, now, to have a better outcome other than tough break?
Hello everyone, I'm 30F and have been suffering from pretty awful back bain for the last 6 months. I got an MRI which showed two herniated discs (L4-L5 and L5-S1) and also Modic type 1 changes.
I've just been reading about the latter and it sounds like it's strongly associated with chronic pain and poor outcomes :(
Does anyone else have this and have you found things that help?
(FYI I finished a course of PT to no great avail... I go to the gym and do yoga (when I can) but daily activities are starting to get difficult.)
hello! I am trying to get input/advice/ideas from anyone I can regarding my very complicated neurological issues - so any and all ideas are welcome.
41 year old woman, living in the Pacific NW of the US. current medications: gabapentin, tramadol, ultram ER, percocet, provigil, levothyroxine, zyrtec.
Twelve + years ago, I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic migraines and was treated with medication (no imaging was done by the MDs I saw). Then, 2 years later I was in a car accident (while sitting in a parked car!) and had pretty minor whiplash. I had an increase in my already present back pain (between shoulder blades) and was seeing a chiropractor for treatment (I know, I know - but the man may have saved my life so....). When I was not improving, he was the first person to send me for an MRI.
What the MRI showed and what i was ultimately told about were 2 different things. I was told that I had a mild chiari malformation (6.2mm), a very mild (2mm) disc bulge at C6/7, and syrinxes running intermittently from C4 to T8, the widest being around 2.5mm at T5. I was not informed of the fact that I had at least mild to moderate foraminal stenosis at the C3/4, C4/5, C5/6, and C6/7. I had posterior fossa decompression surgery in 2007 in order to make more room for CSF flow and hopefully keep the syrinxes from getting worse. I had an MRI done a year after my surgery, which showed that the syrinxes were stable. I was told at that time that my hand numbness and constant back pain (in a cape-like distribution) was all due to the syringomyelia and that it was permanent and they had done all they really could for it (they kept it from getting worse).
Well, my health held pretty steady until mid 2015 when I was diagnosed with a slightly underactive thyroid. I am only listing that because within a few months of starting those meds I started losing weight with no effort (I started at 236, and was down to 206 before I noticed I was losing weight - which is awesome but worrisome at the same time). I am now down to 165, again with no effort (I have no appetite most of the time and get full super quickly). Endocrinologists have said they don't think the thyroid stuff could account for that much weight loss. I have also had WORSE knee pain (a new development, on one side) and ankle osteoarthritis (bilateral, have had this for decades but is worse recently) since losing ~70lb!
Then, a few weeks ago I tripped and fell, and in the process I broke my litt

Would really appreciate if someone could explain my medical report to me in simple terms. My pain doc is subscribing many drugs for nerve pain, but not much for really deep aching. One short walk for 30 mins and i am crippled the next day. Likewise with sitting down for any length of time. Bending over etc
Have had epidural steroid injections and RFA in the past

CLINICAL INFORMATION
Spinal stenosis L4-S1 with facet joint pain L4-S1 S/P RFA bilateral L3-5 medial branches, suspected spondyloarthropathy.
TECHNIQUE
Sagittal T1W, T2FS
Coronal T2WFS, MR myelogram Axial T1W, T2FS, 3D_T2W Screening whole spine in T2W
FINDINGS
The study reveals unremarkable spinal alignment.
There is L4-5 diffuse disc bulge with adjacent endplate irregularity and subchondral endplate edema.
No spinal canal stenosis or nerve root compression is observed.
No spondylolisthesis or retrolisthesis is seen.
There is minimal fluid in the right L4/5 facet joint.
Rest of facet joints are intact.
Right L4/5 neural foraminal narrowing is seen with no gross nerve root compression. No marrow replacement lesion of the lumbar vertebral bodies and posterior elements is present.
There is mild patchy edema of bilateral dorsal paraspinal muscles at L4, L5 level. Included both sacroiliac is intact.
The conus medullaris has normal signal intensity and normally ends at T12-L1 level. The screening whole spine image shows no myelopathy.
IMPRESSION
- L4-5 degenerative disc disease with diffuse disc bulge with Modic type I subchondral endplate changes.
- Early right L4/5 facet arthrosis.
- Mild right L4/5 neural foraminal narrowing with no gross nerve root compression.
- No spinal canal stenosis.
- Mild patchy edema of bilateral dorsal paraspinal muscles at L4, L5 level.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The doctor says it terminal.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
