This once powerful exotic has been outshined again and again and just when it was in an okayish spot the auto reload nerf comes and neuters this exotic completely. It just doesnt do its job well enough to be considered useful. Maybe everytime it hits without killing it could pull a round from reserves? Or even just do more damage, it's pretty sad at the moment for something geared towards boss/beefy enemy killing

This gun was made to murder and it gets PISSED when it doesn't achieve it's goal. Merciless is to murder what the 1980 Portland Trailblazers are to cocaine. IT WILL NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER AND WHEN IT FINALLY GETS A YES IT DEMANDS MORE BLOOD.

While grinding out the catalyst kills for Merciless, I noticed that occasionally, I would be reloading significantly faster than normal. It appears that Merciless has a hidden perk that, on kill, your next reload shortly after gets increased reload speed. Kinda like an Outlaw that doesn't require a crit. Here is a clip of it in action.
I would guess that this is tied to the Impetus perk, which otherwise reads exactly like Kill Clip (1.5x damage buff for a short time after reloading after a kill).
Unfortunately, the whole of Impetus perk is pretty inconsistent. Sometimes the reload buff isn't granted on a kill (might be reloading too fast, like happens with Outlaw sometimes). Frequently, the damage buff isn't granted on a second reload after a second kill (kinda like how Outlaw used to be, where the buff didn't have its duration refreshed on each crit kill). And one of the buffs failing to be granted doesn't mean the other will also fail (sometimes I get a long reload with the damage buff on afterwards, sometimes I get a fast reload with no damage buff afterwards). Also, none of the buffs appear on the HUD.
It's unfortunate this gun has fallen by the wayside. On paper, a gun that both ramps up in DPS against bosses as well as being really good at clearing orange bars with outlaw/killclip-esque perks would be a perfect all-rounder. However, it suffers from a number of issues, including bugs, too little reserve ammo relative to ammo in the mag (8 in the mag and 6 in reserve means reloading to proc Impetus gets pretty hard unless you are swimming in purple ammo), and not being a LFR or sniper. Maybe in Forsaken, when it gets moved to the special slot (assuming it doesn't stay heavy), it will be usable.
Super stoked about it as some people got it after 200 runs and this is my first exotic too so I'm super happy and I thought I'd share it with you guys. Started playing this game a month ago !

I'm been after the Merciless for over a month now, I've tried farming Jefferson Trade Center, Targeted Loot areas and missions and still has not dropped for me. I'm I missing something?
I’m working on upgrading my Merciless Rage deck and planning on putting LotV in it; however looking around it seems nowhere else is doing this? Is it just because of the cost or is there another reason I’m missing why people aren’t using Liliana in the deck?

and yet, here we are again. I asked them, to communicate it BEFORE we waste time farming a build around something that is bugged. Here is a timeline of how long stealth nerfs happen without being communicated until after the fact:
March 11th (Game released! Yay!)
- Chem Launcher radius skill mods (with 150%+ radius) are introduced.
April 5th (WT5 & Tidal Basin patch)
- Chem Launcher radius skill mods are stealth nerfed to a max of 30%. No confirmation was given that this was not intended before.
- Hard Wired chest piece with Cooldown Reduction and Hazard Protection is introduced
May 15th (TU3 & Raid)
- Hard Wired chest piece was stealth nerfed by having Cooldown Reduction and Hazard Protection completely removed. No confirmation was given that this was not intended before.
- All Exotic Weapons except Nemesis gets a damage buff. Merciless now bypasses armor plating. Because Nemesis was not nerfed, players thought the Merciless was part of a revamp coming to Exotic Weapons alongside damage buff.
June 14th (One week before TU4 & Gunner Specilization & Exotic Holster)
- Merciless is stealth nerfed by removing its ability to bypass armor. No confirmation was given that this was not intended before.
