A list of puns related to "Merle (dog coat)"
Visiting from Alaska and I cannot count the number of huskies, golden retrievers and Pomeranians I've seen coats on.
I understand you think that 50 degrees is freezing but unless you have a short haired breed like a dachshund or a toy like a Chihuahua your dog isn't cold.
Jeez your huskies, Pomeranians And Shiba inus are probably miserable in San Diego half the year don't ruin their only comfortable months during your mild winters by putting coats on them. You're for real actually risking overheating them.
Even golden retrievers have double coats and most don't need additional coats or sweaters until its 20 degrees and below which never happens here so don't buy furry large dogs coats in San Diego lol.
I say this with love, don't give your dog with a thick coat heat exhaustion because you think 50 degrees is freezing. And what is it with San Diego residents buying pure bred dogs specifically bred for subzero temperatures like huskies and spitz breed. Yeah fluffy coats are pretty but they function too, making them hot year round. Huskies literally live outside in zero to 30 degree weather.
We are about to be new dog owners. We have decided on getting a cavapoo for all the reasons they seem to be known for. She is an F1 seems to have a wavy coat. As an F1 is it a toss up for personality, size and coat? Are Cavapoos easy to train? Are they prone to separation anxiety? Are training classes worth the money? Thanks for any input.
How does someone know when their dog needs a coat? It's currently a chilly 25 F where I am and it will be in the teens over the next few days. My dog did well last winter and seems to love his walks in the winter more than the summer. He goes much farther on his walks in the winter and walks and brisker pace. He seems to love the cold but I worry. He is 60 lbs with short hair. I don't think he has a double coat. Should I put a sweater on him for our morning walk, or skip it? We walk for about an hour. He seems content without one but it's just so chilly outside.
I have a short haired rat terrier who sheds like crazy and her coat is very dry. I recently saw some dandruff flakes on her after bathing. I currently use the chi for dogs shampoo and conditioner. Is there something good for dandruff and dry skin? Any recommendations?
I live in Northeast Ohio (Cleveland OH on Lake Erie). I have a 13 yr old Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Lab mix and he has always blown his coat in the Spring & Fall (he is an indoor family dog). This year he did not blow his Fall coat. We have had a mild winter though up until about 2-3 weeks ago. Then the weather dramatically dipped into single digits and 20βs. He suddenly started blowing his coat, but not in a normal way, Iβve never seen him lose so much hair!! I did take him to the vet for blood work and it was normal!
Are dogs in the Midwest blowing their coats now? And do senior dogs coats change as they age?
Hi, I need some advice for my 8.5 y/o pomeranian. His fur was recently cut, about a month ago, and I used a furminator de-shedding tool on him, just on his back.
I REALLY overdid it and took out a lot of his overcoat. I have no excuse, I just got carried away. I thought that when the furminator stopped collecting fur, that he was βfully deshedded.β
Before I knew it, his fur was really rough, dark in some areas, and his skin was visible upon close inspection. I feel absolutely terrible. Heβs physically fine but Iβm worried about his coat growing back due to his age. His health is normal.
So, will his coat grow back properly? Is there anything I can do to help that process? Since his skin is more visible, should I give a sweater or shirt to wear? How can I safely de-shed him in the future?
Thanks so much!!
Hello! I am looking to make some sweaters or coats for my dogs. Theyβre 100 and 80 pounds so none of the store blights work for them. I the smaller one is also part hound and extra longβ¦ so weβve had and extremely difficult time finding a pattern to make our own.
Does anyone have an adjustable super large dog sweater pattern?
Come winter do you put a coat on your? If so how cold does it have to be? I know it varies short vs long haired dogs, and of course breed. I have a short haired dog and generally do a coat for under 30 degrees, but sometimes I see dogs in coats when itβs like 50 degrees out which seems still decent weather out.
Hi Everyone,
I am wondering will you get your dog a winter coat? recently I see an article for the American Kennel Club titled " do your dog really need a winter coat " discuss why your dog needs a coat and recommend some winter coat for the reader. however, my 8-month Akita baby has long, warm fur that makes me think she doesn't need one. so how do you think?
