A list of puns related to "Mayor of New York City"

Edit: I am specifically referring to this quote:
> βI think itβs time for our nation to enlist our medical personnel on a national basis,β the mayor said at a coronavirus briefing. βWe donβt have the same kind of draft we used to have, but weβre going to have to create something new right now at this moment in history to enlist all available medical personnel around the country, and I mean civilians. Anyone with medical training anywhere in the country who can be spared by their city, their town, their state to come to the front.β
First, I understand this is truly a national and international emergency. People are dying. We in healthcare have the unique education, abilities and training to help and make a real difference. All of us should be doing everything that we can to hold back and stem the tide of this historic plaque. We should all want to do what we can to help because it is what we do.
But calling for military style draft of healthcare workers in not about duty or helping others, itβs about saving money. Drafting healthcare workers will not add a single new body to the healthcare labor pool. What it will do is create a portable, fluid labor pool where it can be sent rapidly at a fixed rate of compensation. Military compensation rates are below civilian rates in many places and are FAR below what the market is paying right now.
Over the past few weeks, I have been closely monitoring NurseFly.com to see what the travel rates are. Just two weeks ago the highest paying crisis nurse travel position in New York was paying $4,700/week in total compensation. Right now, the highest advertised rate is $7,250/week. And I suspect it is going to go much higher before this is all over.
Is it right for healthcare workers to command high pay in times of need? I say, emphatically, YES!!!
PPEβs are being distributed and sold for 10 times, 20 times and even 50 times more than what they were selling for 3 months ago. Yet there is no talk about nationalizing medical supply and equipment manufacturing and distribution. It costs around $3.00 to manufacture an Epi-Pen and yet they sell for well over $100. That mark up us the same or more across a broad spectrum of drugs. Yet where is the serious talk about price controlling the pharmaceutical industry? How much profi
... keep reading on reddit β‘What do you think? What would you rather have more? A VP position, but does it depend on the candidate or would it be better for Andrew Yang supporters in the #YangGang to urge Andrew to run for Mayor of New York City on a platform of The Freedom Dividend?
