I was interested to read an interview with Mavis Staples saying that she loved the last waltz in part because she got to sing with her good friends levon and Rick.

I was wondering if anyone knew how they knew each other? Of course levon was very respected by many musicians - but I was curious to know whether levon had worked as session drummer for the staples or whether they recorded with one another before?
I have two answers
One, Jack Stauber, he is my joint favourite musician along with Hozier and this would just be a dream come true. Even if the song was universally hated, I would be compelled to like it cause of the people involved. Their music styles aren't too similar but they are both musical gods, they would be able to figure something out
Two, probably Dolly Parton. I don't know why but I just think it would work. Its just something that I think about now and then, doesn't leave my brain. Maybe its because of his collab with Mavis Staples
