A list of puns related to "Mary Poppins (book series)"

I loved all the Disney movies as a kid. I watched Mary Poppins tons of times and I remember enjoying the magical elements of the Mary Poppins character and the heartwarming story as a whole. Last night I just randomly stumbled onto it on Disney+ and turned it on for the kids. It had been 20+ years for me since I'd watched it all the way through, and in some ways it brought back the same childhood memories, and many scenes felt like I was watching for the first time.
For a child, the movie is about Mary Poppins. For a parent, the movie is about a dysfunctional family with an absent father. Mr. Banks is such a relatable character for me. Not that I'm such a strict jerk with my kids, but it's easy to have a stressful day at work and check out as soon as I get home, not giving my kids the full attention they crave from me.
I also love how Bert the chimney sweep handles the family dynamic. When the kids tell him that their father doesn't like them, he reminds them what kind of burden their father handles to provide for them. When he talks to Mr. Banks later in the movie, he reminds him that his kids need him and that their childhood is slipping away "like sand through a sieve." That's a lightbulb moment for Mr. Banks, and then immediately after that his son gives him his tuppence to try and make everything better after the fiasco at the bank. That innocent little moment broke me. Kids just want their parents' love and approval, and it's so easy to forget.
Anyway I'm rambling after getting my emotions jerked around by a 58 year old movie I've seen hundreds of times. Go watch Mary Poppins.

I found a strange bug yesterday. When I left Repack Ridge, I just rode on straight forward without beeing able to steer, and left the road. I passed through some cliffs, and soon left the ground as well. After a few km, I had passed the dinosaurs of "Sand and Sequoias", flown over the diner, and continued straight in to the misty sky. I can't help wondering if the developers have read the classic novel "The Man Who Rode His 10-Speed Bicycle to the Moon" :) ... Anyway, here are some screendumps: https://imgur.com/a/Qv7rI24
Hi this is my first post and its not very articulate, very very long and with bad grammar. But it is a cool idea so....
I have seen a common theory floating around that Mary Poppins (Julie Andrews' Mary Poppins- 1964) is a witch who attended Hogwarts. This seemed like a really cool idea to me but I was always wondering why was sheΒ a nanny if she was a super powerful witch? I do believe that she is a super powerful witchΒ (on par with Voldemort and Dumbeldore) because she has the power of flight (which could be due to her umbrella), talks to the dog Andrew (I don't know if he could be an Animagus or something) and she doesn't visibly use a wand so her non-verbal skills are impressive. I think that her umbrella with the talking parrot is her wand disguised as a muggle umbrella (much like Hagrid's) although hers is likely not broken but disguised because she spends a lot of time in the non-magical world. Now why does she spend so much time with muggles? I believe, although I don't have much evidence to back it up with, that she works at Hogwarts and her job is to help transition muggle born wizards to the wizarding world. Specifically, she is sent to families of young witches and wizards who have parents that would likely not accept/believe in magic and would not let their children go to Hogwarts. I can't remember if we ever found out in the books how muggle born wizards are told they are magic and how to get to Diagon Alley and Platform 9 3/4 but I don't think a letter would convince a parent like Mr Banks to send their kids off to magic school.
And yes I do think that both Jane and Michael have the magical gene. It is genetic so it is common to show up in siblings and throughout the movie they perform magic, not advanced magic. But magic that is uncontrollably and largely connected to feelings, similar to the emotional magic that underaged wizards perform. They fly upwards from laughing and fall back down when sad- this is obviously connected to emotions and is slightly similar to what Harry does to Aunt Marge in the third book. The other piece of magic we see them do is clean up their room, which isn't really connected to emotions but Mary Poppins did it first so it could be performed through instruction.
The timing of when the movie takes place is very helpful to this theory. Jane isn't far from her eleventh birthday and would be soonΒ expecting a letter. Obviously when the letter arrived Mr Banks would not send his child to wizarding school and even if

This is quite a messy post but essentially Mary Poppins tried to get DHβs Uncle and Auntie to talk about me and Uncle told her to f*ck off, and reassured DH that he was not getting involved and knew his sister (MP) was in the wrong. Also MP and JNFIL have found a new way of contacting DH.
So DH went to a football game with his Uncle last night, who happens to be Mary Poppinsβ brother. It was DHβs first time seeing his uncle since the whole mess with MP blew up last summer, so he was a little nervous about how it would go, however they both had a really good time and their team won so yay!
Anyway the subject of the situation with MP didnβt come up until the end of the night when Uncle made a point of telling DH that he knew about the situation between MP and us, and just wanted DH to know that he was not getting involved in it and although he loves his sister he doesnβt necessarily like her because she doesnβt know when to mind her own business and stop interfering. MP does not like Uncleβs wife either and regularly puts her down and talks about her as if she is a terrible person, so Uncle is fully aware of what MP is capable of.
Basically Uncle had met up with MP and their Other Sister (DHβs Auntie, MPβs sister) recently for dinner and drinks and MP had started to call me fit to burn, pull me to pieces, telling them both things that my mum had apparently told MP about me when they met up a few weeks ago. Apparently at the end of the night MP was telling Uncle and Other Sister that I am a liar and that she is innocent and tried to draw them both into slagging me off too, so Uncle told her βf*ck off, I am not getting involvedβ and refused to engage in any further conversation about it. Apparently MP went silent for a few minutes before continuing the conversation about me with Other Sister- incidentally Other Sister is also very much a JustNo and has a very bad relationship with her own children, regularly slagging off her own daughter on social mediaβ¦ I have her muted and hidden on social media as I fully believe and expect she is a Flying Monkey to MP and the two of them enable and validate each otherβs behaviours.
Uncle told DH that the next day after this incident Other Sister phoned him and even she thought that MP was getting a bit out of hand and being unfair to me, which is unexpected because as I say, Other Sister is usually right there with MP validating her actions etc. You know itβs bad when even she thinks MP is going too far.

The title pretty much says it all. Mary Poppins knows I am very close with my Grandparents on my mumβs side as they had a big hand in raising me when I was younger. I reached out to my Grandma today to tell her that I have been diagnosed with perinatal depression, and mentioned briefly that my parents had travelled the 300 mile journey to meet DHβs parents and talk about me, and that now MP was telling people I was a liar etc (explained in previous posts).
Grandma then let me know that MP had actually emailed my Grandma a couple of times a few months ago βabout the situationβ and Grandma had obviously ignored them. MP had her email address as they were in contact for our wedding arrangements a couple of years ago, and now MP has used this to try get her on side. Grandma was concerned about being involved and discussed it with my aunties and uncles who I am also close with, and they advised her not to give any information about me to either my parents or DHβs parents. Thank god that the rest of my family aside from my parents is just lovely!
Honestly the depths this woman will sink to are just astounding to me. I can not get my head around someone being so controlling, manipulative and interfering, and who would also think itβs appropriate to try and turn my 80 year old Grandma against me.
Each returns every 20-something years (Pennywise 27, Mary Poppins 25) to regenerate energy from a new group of children, but also have a tendency to return to those they met on their last visit (Pennywise returns to the Losers, Mary Poppins returns to the Banks)
Mary Poppins manages to maintain energy for 25 years despite interacting with less children than Pennywise requires for 27 years as she relies on childrenβs joy, unlike Pennywise who relies on their fear, and as proven in Monsters Inc childrenβs laughter is worth more than their fear
Upon each of their returns, they draw a child named Georgie away from their siblings with a paper toy, then appear alongside that toy to return it to Georgie (Mary Poppins returns Georgie's kite, Pennywise acts as though heβs returning Georgieβs boat)
Each has the same set of powers, in which they can take advantage of what lies in the childrenβs minds (Mary Poppins uses their imagination, Pennywise uses their fear)
Mary Poppins famously has a living reflection that can function separately from her, and Pennywise is shown to share this ability in Chapter Two
In each of these stories, the parents are oblivious to the fantastical situations being experienced by the children
The Losers club forget their experiences as children until Pennywise returns, and although the Banks children do not forget Mary Poppins, they do forget that the magical experiences actually happened, and they remember Mary Poppins as just a nanny
Each has a love for singing and dancing, which should be obvious for Mary Poppins, but becomes clearer for Pennywise when you remember that he refers to himself as Pennywise the Dancing Clown, dances for Beverly in Chapter One, and sings for Richie in Chapter Two
Pennywise is heavily associated with the song Oranges and Lemons, which is a song about old London, where Mary Poppins lives, showing that Pennywise has an awareness that another member of his species is out there, and he knows exactly where they are
Pennywise has a mystical light source called the Deadlights, and although we never see Mary Poppinsβ Deadlights, it is likely she has them too, as in Mary Poppins Returns she creates an imaginary crowd of lamplighters to sing the song βTrip a Little Light Fantasticβ, which may possibly be her way of convincing the children to look into her Deadlights without scaring them into it (It is proven that these lamplighters are fake and created by Mary Poppins, as when Michael hears the children singi

It totally works!
