1. INTRODUCTION

As CDC says:

> HPV infections are so common that nearly all men and women will get at least one type of HPV at some point in their lives. Most people never know that they have been infected and may give HPV to a sex partner without knowing it. Nearly 80 million Americans are currently infected with some type of HPV. About 14 million people in the United States become newly infected each year.

> Most HPV infections are transient and asymptomatic, causing no symptoms. More than 90% of new HPV infections, including those caused by high-risk HPV types, clear or become undetectable within 2 years, and clearance usually occurs in the first 6 months after infection.

As dr Handsfield wrote:

> Probably 25-30% of all sexually active men in North America or Europe are diagnosed at one time or another with genital warts. (...) Going further, at least 90% get HPV at least once, and at any point in time at least 50% of all men and women in their 20s and 30s have active HPV infections.

As /u/beef1020 wrote:

> Humans are infected with over 150 different papillomaviruses. Every type is tropic to some degree, but evidence is that within 5 years of potential exposure 100% of people acquire the infection and clear it quickly afterwards. So most toddlers develop warts on their hands before the age of 5 just like most people are exposed, infected, and clear multiple genital HPV infections within 5 years of sexual debut.

> It is a handful of rare types that appear to have specific genetic traits which create proteins with a strong binding affinity for p53 and Rb which once integrated, over a period of 30+ years, can lead to cancer. From an absolute risk perspective, HPV is benign, everyone in the world get's infected multiple times in their life, and a handful of people will develop serious disease, but with proper screening that disease is almost 100% avoidable.

> When people think about most STIs they are thinking about a disease that is rare among their peer group, or community in general. People need to think of HPV as 100% endemic in Humans, it's every

Best learning path for absolute beginners - CompTIA/MS900/MD100?

Hi there

I've recently been suckered into signing up for one of these 'guaranteed job placement! Start your career with IT! Become a Cyber Security millionaire within ONE YEAR' courses (yes yes, I know, berate me later please, advice needed first!

Before I lay into the course provider, can anyone tell me whether this course progression sounds useful:

CompTIA ITF+ (ucertify - online learning)MD-100 - (5 days online classes, Skillpipe, livelabs)Server+ - (5 days online classes)MS-900 (1 day online class)MS-100 - (4 days online classes)ITIL Foundation (1 day online class)

There may well be additional Skillpipe access to self-led learning info for Server+ onwards, but I haven't been told this for sure yet.

Now, to my newbie eyes and brain, it seems weird that M900 and 100 are after MD100 (which the Microsoft learning pathway suggests). Also, the ucertify learning for ITF+ was pretty crap, so I found the oreilly website had a free trial and that the Mark Edward Soper book was much better.

Thoughts? Are these courses actually likely to lead to a 'career' in entry-level IT? Or am I better off just working through the Microsoft learning docs on their site and trying to train myself up on Azure.

Luckily, I'm getting government funding for this course, but I hear it's costing others over Β£5k ....

(Warning: Morbid dad joke) True Story -- My family were planning my mum's funeral. We always try to keep things light and try to stay positive, just as Mum would have it...

The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.

Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.

The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:

"What's sarong with that?"

I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).

His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.

--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)

--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.

From my 5-year-old son: "Hey"

True story; it even happened last night. My 5-year-old son walks up behind me and out of the blue says, "hey."

I turn to him and say, "yeah, kiddo? What's up?"

He responds, "it's dead grass."

I'm really confused and trying to figure out what's wrong and what he wants from me. "What? There's dead grass? What's wrong with that?"

.

.

He says, totally straight-faced, "hay is dead grass," and runs off.

[OC] The History of the #1 at Le Mans (Part 4 + Stats)

Welcome to the final part of our journey through Le Mans history with the #1. Here are parts 1, 2, and 3 if you haven't read those yet.

1994-1999: The Recovery Years

With the death of the World Sportscar Championship after 1992 and the demise of Category 1 after 1993, the sportscar world entered an era of uncertainty and recovery. Old machines were revived, transformed, and disguised while the organizers tried to figure out how to bring Le Mans back from life support. With no coherent championship or ruleset, the #1 was up for taking to anyone.

1994 – SARD Company / Toyota 94C-V (Eddie Irvine, Jeff Krosnoff, Mauro Martini) – With Peugeot taking their engines to Formula One, Toyota took possession of the #1 with their SARD team. SARD did claim class honours in 1993 with their 93C-V in Category 2, so they were one of the favourites this year. The #1 led much of the second half of the race, but experienced gearbox issues in the 22nd hour, allowing the Joest-run Dauer 962LM to steal the overall victory, while the #1 came home in 2nd position. It was heartbreak for Toyota and it wouldn’t be their last.

1995 – Euromotorsport Racing / Ferrari 333 SP (Jay Cochran, Massimo Sigala, RenΓ© Arnoux) – While writing this little section, I found out Euromotorsport was owned by Enzo Ferrari’s grandnephew. Having run the 333 SP in IMSA, Euromotorsport were ready to take on Le Mans. The #1 retired after 7 laps, making it the worst performance in the #1’s history. If not for a Honda NSX retiring with clutch problems, the #1 would have finished in last position for the first time ever. [DELETE THIS NEPHEW!](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/20
