A list of puns related to "Marguerite Duras"
I want to kind a book with the unusual age romance and the perspective of the women. This was an very exotic book and I want to know if there’s more like it. Just know this book is semi-autobiography and is NSFW.
Does anyone have information on how I can get my hands on some of Marguerite Duras' works for the stage? Most translations are unfortunately out of print or very expensive. Thank you!
The famous writer of "L'Amour", does the final s have a sound? On wiki, the IPA has a s. Meici
I've found myself in a weird reading slump where I only wish there were more Marguerite Duras novels to read, but there just aren't. I've read them all, and multiple times. She is by far my favorite author. If I had to generate a word cloud describing what I love about her writing (which I'm laughing at myself for doing, but I'm looking for suggestions!), I would say spare, minimal, poetic, elliptical, fragmented, enigmatic, mysterious, haunting, rhythmic, repetitive, cinematic... Her language is usually very simple with short sentences, but incredibly biting. Just looking at the page one will find loads of negative space. They're like a cross between prose poetry and a screenplay. Her books are like my favorite arthouse films put to page. It's little wonder that Hiroshima, Mon Amour is one of my favorite films given the fact that she wrote it.
But I'm having a difficult time finding what I love about her from other authors. She's usually lumped into the Nouveau Roman group (which she herself didn't necessarily agree with), but I find other authors in that group lack the passion, emotion, and brevity of her work. There are things I find interesting about the writing of someone like Robbe-Grillet, but it doesn't tick the same boxes for me. Far too wordy and emotionally flat.
The most recent novel I really enjoyed was Samanta Schweblin's Fever Dream. I wouldn't say she's terribly similar to Duras, but there's something about the mystery, the staccato-ish sentences, and the cinematic qualities of that novel that I connected with in a similar way. Unfortunately I didn't enjoy her short story collection, Mouthful of Birds, quite as much, but it did have its moments.
So there we are. Hopefully this gives a good enough idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks!
So I'd like to read more interracial romance books, or books that feature some sort of plot or side plot of Asian men and White women either dating, having a relationship, etc. It can be happy or sad, just like read a book with that kind of pairing.
Thanks in advance!
Anyone care to share their thoughts on this film? I found it very resonant on a very personal level: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101316/
If anyone had any reflections or thoughts about the film, I'd love to know them.
If not, I really appreciated it, and I think you'll enjoy watching it. Get it while you still can on bittorrent, before TPP passes!
