That's a long name for a game. I don't know how well known this game is, it had a lukewarm launch and isn't really something that would appeal to most. Although I have a few gripes with it, this game is probably the only one of its kind and one of the most interesting games I have played especially when looking at the medium.
The game is about the urban subculture of graffiti art and artists, alongside a bit of hip-hop culture. The story is about the unreasonableness (and rebellion against) corrupt police and mayors, and urban youth seeking a purpose. The gameplay consists of 3D beat-em-up, some urban platforming, a little bit of "stealth", and ofcourse, spraying graffiti art. The whole game has a certain sense of style and presentation that I dare say is unique to itself. The dialogue is appropriate and voiced by some big names. The game not only has good backing music, but also has a great selection of licensed songs. If you follow this subculture, there's also some appearances by renowned graffiti artists.
The game is not janky, but it doesn't quite feel right. Particularly the controls and camera; something just feels a bit off or unrefined. The PC port can be a headache. The game can also feel a little repetitive depending on your tastes. Like a lot of other games, Getting Up was also incorrectly and unfairly compared to Grand Theft Auto, and that's a very bad comparison in my opinion. I have also read parts of this game described as Prince Of Persia in a city, which is also a comparison I couldn't agree with.
I would advocate for seeing a more refined successor to this, maybe even one that is more elaborate. But it makes me ponder if it could even work. The game's themes and tone, core game mechanics, the audience it serves and the things it inadvertently sheds a light on - these are things that probably could not be done today. Not only because of the way the industry is today, but also where the world is sociopolitically. At the very least, this game would be seen as too edgy, or incorrectly serious, or too early-2000s, or even juvenile. One would reckon it could be done in an indie release, but I doubt it would be at this degree. You have to keep

Im pretty sure that was the title but I can't find any info on it. It was on a huge LG (I think) flip phone I had in 2006 that looked like a brick with one of those cameras you could spin front to back.
Like a sidescroller thing with different levels and you had to run collecting coins or something, and at the end you unlocked a chunk of a huge burner grafitti piece in your black book.
Then every chapter you had a whole new piece and you started a new page.
The pieces were gorgeous and it made the game fun to play.
Heard a familiar voice at around 8:16 in Part 22.
Immediately pulled up IMDB to see if Brandon Keener was in the cast. Indeed he is. Suckas never finish those calibrations.

We need a sequel but in the meantime, letβs bring back memories with this oldie.
Ignore the "dinner" part, damn mobile autosuggest...
