A list of puns related to "Lyric soprano"
You fell asleep last night. Returned your gun. Papa always said you'd be irrelevant.
He said: You're exactly like the other million people in the world, You've got to to defuse to deflame, But you died under a good sign. With a colorless sun in your eyes.
You fell asleep last night. All the love had returned, Your mama told you About right and wrong.
But you're looking bad, adult, I believe you're feeling unwell, Died under a good sign. With a colorless sun in your eyes.
Donβt sing it now. Fell asleep last night Got a colorless sun. Got a colorless sun in your eyes, yeah Fell asleep last night.
You fell asleep last night The world turned right side up. Things have been exactly the same Since the Jazzes sat in the city.
But you're completely irrelevant. You've got that gun control dirt. Died under a good sign with a colorless Sun in your eyes.
When you, fell asleep last night.
Returned your gun.
Returned your gun.
Returned your gun.

Edit: I apologize. Iβm realizing this may not be the right subreddit for this, but Iβve been met with nothing when asking other subreddits in the past.
Hi, everyone. Iβm a soprano, non traditional student in my late 20s. Iβm in my senior year of undergrad and currently in the process of picking/preparing an aria package for grad school auditions. Prof. says I βcould tryβ MichaΓ«la but she wouldnβt let me audition with it (which Iβm in agreement on).
Iβve combed through the Wolf Trap Opera aria frequency lists and also tried to look through The Aria Database some, but Iβm struggling to find something that really fits where Iβm at right now/is a challenge that wouldnβt be seen as a poor choice Iβm βnot ready forβ as an undergrad student. I still struggle quite a bit with agility/coloratura passages, so I feel like ThaΓ―s and Manon are almost out of the question, but Iβd be willing to try it.
Suggestions?
Edit: Thanks so much for all the help! I have a lesson tomorrow, so Iβll make a list and run a few of these by my professor and get her thoughts. If anyone still has ideas, Iβll take a look at them. Thanks again!
Hello! What are your favorite oratorio pieces composed for lyric sopranos?
I would like someone to recommend me a song for a singer with mezzo-soprano tessitura and piano accompaniment, if possible with French lyrics.
I want to play a song with a friend who is fond of singing and who has a mezzo-soprano tessitura (somewhat limited as well). She has asked me for a song that has lyrics in French because it is a language that she studies and she would like to practice it by singing.
We tried some time ago the "Bolèro" of Charles Gounod (we are not the ones in the video!), but that tessitura of this song was too high, and the song was somewhat difficult for her...
Could someone recommend me a song of this kind?
Iβll start - the Doll Song from Les Contes DβHoffman (Maria Aledia is insane)
I understand that tastes in singing change and morph over time, but given that the very soul of French opera singing is nuance and restraint, why does this style of singing no longer seem to be in mode? Iβm mad about Italian opera and its style of singing which is unabashedly intense and the open, dramatic notes. But Iβm equally in love with French opera and its style of singing which embodies agility, restraint, and a delicate approach. Yet this makes it no less impactful and emotional to me. Take βVainement Mon Bien-Aimeeβ from Laloβs Le Roi dβYs, for example. I cannot being myself to listen to it being sung by an Italian style tenor or by a spinto or dramatic tenor. The aria calls for a subtlety and delicacy in phrasing that can only be done properly by a traditional French tenor. But what do we have in spades? Recordings of tenors like Roberto Alagna (yes, I know that heβs French as well as Italian but to me thereβs nothing French about his style of singing) and Jonas Kaufmann (at least he doesnβt sing the βje vais, helas, mourirβ forte but his voice is all wrong for this piece) doing a grave disservice to this beautiful aria. This just breaks my heart and to me is a desecration. Even Juan Diego Florez, from whom I expected a more refined and sensitive approach, dishonors the aria. So I am relegated to listening to a very few recordings of marvelous French tenors who have long since left us. And some might argue that we have Natalie Dessay, but she doesnβt achieve the lightness and lyrical nuance of Robin and Mesple, at least in my opinion. If you know of any French tenors in the true sense of the term, please direct me their way.
Iβve seen many comparisons over the years between two vocalists, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande, and they each have the special quality about their voice that they flourish in, so technique wise both in their prime vocally (Mariah- Daydream Era) (Ariana-Thank U Next era) , who is the better vocalist?
I'm in the market for a microphone and I don't really know what I'm looking for. I've read many reviews for many items, and I feel like I'm spoiled for choice/lost in all the possible choices without much actual knowledge. All I know is that my current microphone, a Blue Snowball, distorts really easily when I sing my best notes, which is extremely annoying. This is also why I threw my voice type up in the title (Edit: Ohnicethere'saflairforthat.Ohwell.). I have a voice that can apparently run on the louder side of the spectrum. I'm also looking for a less expensive setup (one that won't run me over $500, and ideally even less than that).
So in short: What kind of basic starting recording equipment do I need to make recordings of my voice that won't sell me short? Any input would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hi all! I was wondering if any of you know of any duets (from opera or just a classical piece in general) for specific voice types: lyric tenor (specific singer I'm referring to has a warm, resonant, light yet powerful timbre) and soubrette soprano (me: very light but warm, can be bright, expressive).
We can both sing in German, Latin and Italian. He can sing French, and I am learning it.
The tenor is more flexible because he is more experienced with his voice, and has more training. My middle range, I can get a darker and fuller timbre, but my upper range (F5+) gets very light.
The tenor is aged 25 and I am 23, if that helps.
Thanks :)
