I absolutely ADORE Lovely Rita. It’s so catchy and fun, and it’s just a story about love. I know I’m being controversial saying this, but it’s so mystical and bright that it holds a special place in my heart. The piano in the middle of the song is really cool and its over all an awesome carefree song.
It's easily my favorite on sgt pepper but don't hear it talked about so much. I love the energy, the lyrics ("I almost made it...sitting on the sofa with a sister or two") and the piano solo. Also love how John is pretty active in it (the end at least)

I’ve listened to this song all my life and I’ve always been curious about the ending. He meets this meter maid, asks her out to tea, goes to dinner with her where she ends up paying but then back at the house, he nearly makes it, sitting on the sofa with a sister or two…what does that last part mean? Did he get cock blocked by younger sisters? Did he have a threesome with Rita and a nun? The little “ooooh” right afterwards I thought always implied something dirty.

I have started to realise how much of an amazing song this actually is. Before a few days ago, I would usually just skip this song and or not enjoy it as much as I am now.
Thankfully, I have finally realised how good this song actually is. the bass, the vocals and the drums are all stunning and I can now appreciate this song more and more.
I just love this song so much. The George Martin solo, Paul's amazing bassline, the hilarious and lighthearted lyrics and the makeshift Kazoo playing. Just an awesome song
Two songs I've always enjoyed, separately, have been Lovely Rita by The Beatles and Syd Barrett's Octopus off of The Madcap Laughs. It wasn't until I played them consecutively that I realized how similar they are musically?
