Lost Ark Beta - "World Last Hildebrandt Palace (Paladin POV)"
^(edit: posted a wrong link xD)
I originally posted this in r/lostarkgame and realized my post fits better here for those who want some initial thoughts on the game in comparison to other titles (FFXIV & WOW) specifically for end game PVE content.
Luckily, before the servers shutdown the bunch of rando's I queued with carried me (I still am getting used to ARPG being a boomer. I also have low FPS and high latency at 150~ ish) to see the entirety of the fight and was able to clear. (I started late in the beta)
Huge shoutout to Sheng, Poetat, Dkina, you guys rock!!
There are four tiers offered in the beta. With 2 bosses in each tier, except the last tier which is this video where it has 3 bosses (technically because the two phases of the same boss are different fights).

Lost Ark Beta end-game PVE thoughts in comparison to WOW and FFXIV
ABOUT ME: I am a world last raider and certainly not a world first raider in any of these games so my perspective should be how a "normie" raider will be. I am a gamer from the third world and I'd like to make content about that in the future. However, that does not mean I haven't cognitively given the time to think about the nuances of these things. Strategy and thought process is what I enjoy the most in MMO's. I spent countless of hours listening to perspectives of people (from the very best to someone who just represent the general populace) in WOW and FFXIV from videos and podcasts and their talks amongst each other. I may not be a hardcore gamer in people's books but I am a hardcore gaming nerd who spends a lot of time studying it. Passion runs deep when it comes to the thought process of any gaming I play. So if you're similar, then I think you'd enjoy my thoughts on the Lost Ark PVE
DISCLAIMER: My thoughts will be in comparison to the top dogs of the genre which is WOW and FFXIV in different categories that I'll try to explain the thought process. This was written to shed light for Lost Ark players assuming they haven't played the other two games and vice versa. *This won't include the Guardian Raids, because that is a totally different content (Monster hunter like PVE). These are all opinion

The one thing I need to find out tho, how can I safely buy Skins without putting in my credit card number? I am not seeing a link to use Pay Pal? also can you unlock the default dresses without spending money?
This is my only concern, spending money seems not all that safe and then the game might come to the West and my stuff will be locked to the Russian account.
Also the Server that starts with the letter C is that the ones with English players? and how active is it? to me 200ms ping from Caribbean to Russia on a VPN of all things is incredible absolutely incredible and it feels smooth as butter since this is a top down isometric game so you don't ever notice the ping.
I can't find a pricing on Skin and the ingame currency also can I unlock all those default skins using ingame currency if it even exist?
Whipped this up last night as a little goof or gag due to the excitement of lost ark that's going to be releasing here in a few days. I put AGS's New World as the forefront due to it being the most recent MMO to have been released.
You can interpret the video in 2 different ways
Personally I'm excited for Lost Ark because I'm a fan of both MMORPG's and ARPG's and it has a really nice mix between both. Also this is really the first time that a foreign studio is really serious about tuning the in game cash shop to meet the western market and i want to see how that turns out. Those who don't know Lost Ark in other regions have a very strong cash shop presence where a lot of people will say it's p2w in most cases, but smilegate has been working with AGS while bringing this to the west to remove any sort of dealings that may look or even at quick glance seem pay to win.

I've been watching videos on Lost Ark for the past week or so and now that we're a month away from the true NA release, I feel a tiny bit of genuine hype for this game. It seems there are half a dozen viable end game fun tasks to do to improve your character and account, so there's some meat on the bones for pretty much any type of MMOG player. PVP mode is pretty fairly balanced from what I've been able to gather. The PVE raiding is very, very good with some interesting mechanics for even the seasoned WOW/FFX14 high end raider. There's a pseudo Mythic+ mode(I think???) for people that love that. There's a PVE solo tower mode for people that want to challenge themselves. There's a ton of crafting and the stronghold system seems like a nice perk for those that like that sort of cosmetic change to show off their personality. I'm not sure if there is much of an economy/market, so the more business-minded folks probably are the only major trope that may be lacking.
Overall it just seems like a fairly nicely polished MMOG that if the developers can incorporate more western ideas/sub-games into the meta, I think it'll be a solid 3rd largest MMOG for a long time. I think the isometric perspective and some other aspects will likely keep it from breaking into top 2, but I think there's already a legit argument to make that it's better than GW2/New World/ESO/Eve/etc.
Strap in as this may or may not be a long post.
Iβve played Black Desert Online for about 3 years straight and seeing what Lost Ark has to offer makes me wish bdo wasnβt my first mmo.
Iβve invested around 15k hours in bdo, while a lot of it is afk life skilling a lot of it was actually playing what the game has to offer, which to be honest isnβt that much.
While BDO has life skilling a lot of it is fun for a little bit but becomes boring and very surface level and eventually boils down to getting better gear. Going from loggia to manos acessories and clothing, going from green gear to blue gear in bartering, etc.
PvE -
Content consists of grinding mobs to get more gear to grind mobs faster to get more gear and the cycle continues. While the newly added raids are fun the first time around, they again are very surface level and people only do them now for the weekly and go back to grinding in open world.
Before the introduction of βElvia Serversβ people would grind different locations based on how they were feeling for the most part, of course some people wanted to get the most trash at sycraia with a striker but it wasnβt miles above other spots during the time like Elvia servers are.
Now if you wanna get geared fast people recommend going to sulfur mine and then go to Elvia where people have self imposed a βduel for spotβ rule amongst each other to take spots from each other and keep efficiency high by fighting over a spot quickly. (Opinions of this go back and forth on whether itβs good or not, I personally hate the idea and leave people to grind and ask how long till they are finished.)
Thatβs about it, there is a new region ( more mobs to grind with more gear to get to grind faster) on the horizon but we were told it would be released in NA in the first half of 2022. Which with Pearl Abysseβs track record that could mean the earliest we see it is in April and most likely wonβt see it until June, probably later.
PvP -
They recently have had a Reboot of the first 12 classes, I believe is the number, and for the most part it was a success. People who had mained classes before but swapped due to inefficiencies in pve or pve felt like they were able to go back to them and do well in whatever they were doing.
However most of the changes included increases in damage on a lot of skills and getting protections like super armor and frontal guard on a lot of skills along with cooldown reductions. This in my experience in pvp has made it into wh

First, I'v cut my long hair, so it doesn't get into my eyes/mouth durings raids, etc.
Secondly, I'm planning to shutdown my smartphone for the next 6 months.
Also, I will be starting a cold liquid diet so I don't have to waste time on preparing food, which takes a lot of time. (I'm still not sure how I will pee. My toilet is pretty close, but it still feels like a waste of time, so I might use incontinence pad or I will pee in a 2L plastic bottle.) If you are interested in liquid diet, you can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid_diet
I will be switching to polyphasic sleep, which is called dymaxion sleep pattern, where I divide my sleep into x4 30-minute naps, which gives me total of 2 hours of sleep per day, which shoul be enough, because when the brain gets used to dymaxion sleep pattern, the vitally important REM-sleep will start sooner than usual. If you are interested in polyphasic sleep, you can read more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biphasic_and_polyphasic_sleep
I will replace regular coffee with pure caffeine powder, to stay as sharp as possible and have my reaction speed as high as possible. (The powder tastes awful, so I will have to prepare the powder by putting it into small gelatine capsules, so I don't taste that awful taste.)
I'v never been hyped for anything like I am for Lost Ark. I can barely think about anything else than this game. I feel like my heart starts beating faster whenever I watch YouTube videos or Twitch streams of this game. Hello All!
The Games Cabin is finally done all of our Lost Ark Class Guides for the NA / EU release. These guides have been built based on researching the top players and builds and most popular opinions on each class, as well as personal expertise from the game.
I'd love to hear feedback from everyone and if there is something you think we've missed, feel free to let me know. The goal is to make a one-stop-shop for anyone looking for information on their class. The skills are all the NA / EU names and descriptions as well, so you won't be confused by RU translations.
These guides are all in articles, so you won't have to sit through a YouTube video if that's not your thing. It also allows you to come back to the guide to reference what you need without needing to sift through a video to find the right reference point.
Class Guides By Alphabetical Order:
As we learn more about the NA / EU release, and post-release, we will continue to keep these guides completely up to date to best serve as a go-to place for everyone.
Thank you for your time!
After watching the Lost Ark / Encylopedia: PvP video, the narrator mentions Solo Q only for ranked [which I'm a big fan of]. But when he talked about Team Deathmatch and Team Elimination, the narrator mentions these unranked q's support duo q. But do they support 3 friends queuing together? I want to be able to play as a full 3v3 team with my friends! It would be a shame if there wasn't a game mode that supports this.
First, allow me to preface this guide by stating that I have no prior experience with the game... But I have been following this sub closely for the past few days and I watched a few clickbait YouTube videos so I consider myself pretty knowledgeable.
I'd like to present any new players with a detailed list of steps to quickly reach and dominate the endgame:
Anyway, I hope you found my guide helpful. I'll be streaming the pre-launch so be sure to follow, like, subscribe and (most importantly) donate.
Is there an icy veins type website for Lost Ark? I am excited for the NA release and looking to dig deep into information on jobs, builds, gameplay, quests, endgame etc.
Also who are some good people to follow on youtube and twitter for NA release of Lost Ark?

Is Lost Ark P2W? (100% Honest Review )
Lost Ark Review (Let's find out if it's pay to win or not)
Hello. I am a user playing Lost Ark in Korea.
(I used Google Translate, so please understand if there are typos in the text or the context is strange.)
Today we are going to talk about whether Lost Ark is Pay to Win or not.
I wrote this Post for 5 hours to answer your questions.
I think I have the right to judge if Lost Ark is Pay to Win or not.
(1) I've been playing Lost Ark for over 3 years.
(2) I have played both Pay to Win games and non Pay to Win games.
Question of the Day: Is Lost Ark a Pay to Win game?
My answer:
(1)
I enjoyed all the content of Lost Ark without spending any money. Also, it is not a P2W game, as I have never felt any displeasure from users who spent money. Don't make narrow judgments based on the gaming experience you've played so far.
(2)
To determine if Lost Ark is a Pay to Win game, you first need to know what Pay to Win is.
Pay to Win literally means you have to spend money to win.
If you spend money and lose, it is not Pay to Win.
When strictly evaluated, Pay to Convenience, Pay to Content, and Pay to Skip that look similar to Pay to Win are not Pay to Win.
[Lost Ark PVP] = 99% No Pay to Win
There are 3 types of official matching, island, and guild battles.
Except for guild battles, the stats are equalized.
Guild battles are less popular because the rewards are mediocre and the time and number of times you can participate are limited.
So 99% of PVP is not Pay to Win.
Lost Ark PVP = 99% No Pay to Win
[Lost Ark PVE]
This is the most complicated moment when it comes to explaining whether Lost Ark is a Pay to Win game or not.
<Pay to Convenience> Lost Ark = 90% No Pay to Convenience
Pay to Convenience The characteristic of games is that it is very inconvenient and unpleasant if you do not pay real money to the game.
Black Desert Online: Insufficient inventory, weight, pets, mounts, etc. constantly torment you. If you don't spend real money, it's almost impossible to progress the game. In addition, there are factors that require continuous real money payment to obtain additional rewards.
Vindictus: We are running out of space in our inventory and warehouse. You have to buy it with real money. It is virtually mandatory to acquire additional experience points and acquire additional items and pay for a monthly service. If you do not pay for servic

This message continued for about 15 minutes. He also mentioned the Korean community pitching in with charity donations over the Christmas period, calling it the "Christmas Miracle".
At the end, he gave a hint at the mini-event, which was to find a special wandering merchant at the main hubs and buy a suspicious card pack for 7942 (meaning "friendship" in Korean) shillings. When opened, it gave a card with an image of a specialist in traditional New Years clothing with the phrase "κ·Όνμ λ ", a fancy way of saying Happy New Years. This card could then be traded for a legendary card choice pack. There also was a hidden achievement with the title "Christmas Miracle" as a reward.
The message is as follows :
Happy New Year!
Everybody, I wish you all a great new years!
Hello, this is Lost Ark's director, Geum Gangsun.
I greet you in celebration of the new year of 2022.
I am so happy and thankful to be able to celebrate yet another new years with you all.
What plans have you been making for the new year?
And what dreams have you been dreaming?
Whatever they are, Lost Ark wishes you the best!
That said, I can't help but talk about the Christmas campaign.
Within our studio, we've been calling it the "Christmas Miracle".
Many of our developers have been feeling proud about their work,
and have been overwhelmed by all of your generosity.
I woke up that morning to a barrage of messages from our devs.
They said there had been a miracle...
As I checked the campaign, I was astonished, "Wow... What's going on?"...
My eyes began to sweat. (A joking way to say crying)
It's been a long time since I've felt such indescribable, overwhelming emotions.
I thank you all so much from the bottom of my heart, along with our dev team.
Your kindness is like a mirror to us,
Which makes us feel that "We should do better!".
We will do our best, so you may have good memories in 2022 as well.
Growth, competition, end content - these are all necessary for the framework of an MMORPG,
But these memories and feelings are the real reason why we enjoy MMORPGs.
Your kindness has been both 'hope' and 'thankfulness'
To our developers, to the recipients of your charity,
And to all those who were watching this warm and encouraging news.
Our society is still worth living in! Such hope! Brilliant beauty!

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi, I'm in NA and the game releases in approx 4 weeks. I've been debating between Gold ($49.99) and Platinum ($99.99) Founder's Packs. While comparing them, I noticed Platinum Pack comes with something called Platinum Welcome Pack.
Part of the Platinum Welcome Pack is an item(?) called "Legendary Rapport Gift Selection Chest" for which the description is as follows: "A chest holding goods that will endear you to characters across Arkesia"
Needless to say, this description means absolutely nothing to me. It's a chest containing goods, but does anyone know what exactly those goods are? Saying "they will endear me to characters across Arkesia" doesn't actually tell me what they are, how useful they are, what they do, etc. and considering this is a $99 pack, that's something I'd like to know before I make my decision on which of the two packs to buy. Obviously it doesn't come down to this singular thing alone, but it is still something that is a part of one pack and not the other, so I'd like to have all the information available to me before I make the final decision.
EDIT: Dang thank you guys. Your responses have been so helpful. Not only did I learn what the item was, but I also got a video tutorial on the whole mechanic, an understanding of the value of rarity, and even better idea of gold vs platinum packs. You guys have been so helpful. Thank you!

I leveled a Bard and a Sorc. Took the Sorc to Gear level 590. Did Chaos dungeons, Guardian Raids, a few Void Dungeons, quested until I got to Rohendel (3rd-ish major continent after 50, about the end of T1). Ignored (most) of the story (saving it for better(?) translated live version. Did some casual PVP.
Random thoughts in random order;
Levelled bard last month after the NA beta, parked her in Bern (major city you go to after reaching 50)
Bard levelling / PVE experience - leveled SLIGHTLY slower due to damage being mostly from AoE damage of time skills, but it still did the job. Parked her at 50 and just ran a couple chaos dungeons per day for extra upgrade mats (each day she got me enough extras for my sorc to upgrade 1 or 2 items). Used the bard's personal materials to get up to 460 (upgrade materials from Chaos dungeons and guardian raids drop mostly 'personal' items that only that character can use, but also drop a chunk of materials that you can transfer to other characters via shared storage.
Chaos dungeons noticeably slower but not hard at all up to at least 460. Once I got the rune that adds bleed damage to a skill (Sorc killed one of the 560 world bosses and it dropped) the damage was a lot better.
Sorc took about the same amount of time, slightly faster because she's a murder machine and i skipped all the side quests I was doing on Bard.
Upgrading "Grind" - not bad. Gear starts at +0 from chaos dungeons. First upgrade is +4, then +2 for a bit, then +1. Took just under a week to hit 580-ish. From what i read once you hit +15 you're ready for T2 and going for +16 or higher is just 'extra'. Never had trouble finding people (even if it was just 1 overgeared person) w/ group finder to do the 2/day guardian raids.
Boat stuff: Seemed complicated at first, realized I just sail wherever I feel like. (A lot of the systems SEEM complicated but really make sense once you 'do' them a couple times)
PVP: It's all insta cast CC into burst/dps combos. I was firmly in Bronze. This is the only place i really 'felt' the 210ms ping to RU; my reaction time was reduced and I'd often rubber band into CC. Still, there were games I got bopped and games where I did 600k damage (a lot) and just felt completely free. I feel good about my chances on 15ms ping. Def. some classes felt harder to play against than others.
Island home: Dunno, ignored it.
Economy: No

One of the things i really appreciate is that Smilegate is privately owned and not a publicly traded company. I've watched mmo's I've loved die a slow death in order to gain the capital to enact massive plans only to be slowly eroded by letting the money men into their company. These people don't care about video games, most investors and executives don't even fully understand what they are selling, just because it's lucrative and shows promising short term gains.
It's why Games cant design for growth over time because it's just not a smart investment and carries a lot of risk. Some number of things can go wrong so the name of the game is short term profits. At least as a private company like Smilegate can listen to their player base and make changes that benefit the game in the long term instead of having their money masters threaten to sell shares if certain quota's aren't met.
I am a novice when it comes to actual financial investment. Trying to turn video games into a mass produced factory assembled product produces crap with predatory anti consumer behavior and sucks all the passion out of games as a whole. I hope Smilegate resists the seductive lure of huge financial injections of cash to attain the vision they have for this game. Allowing them to keep it a labor of love and profitable in the long term.
Always been a place to frequent for retro titles and fun if you're into the fighting game community, but I'd never went with the intention of finding Saturn things - until now.
I forgot to snap a picture of the imports section, but I got myself three games. JPN Sonic Jam, JPN Wangan Heat, and US Street Fighter the Movie the Game. All in perfect condition for $40.54.

Here is a preview of what this would look like

Automove enabled, arrow keys controlling movement, cursor is still free
More Gameplay Examples (using skills)
More Gameplay Examples (fighting something + more character movement)
TLDR: WASD / Arrow Keys movement is possible. Just download reWASD and map arrow keys to joystick controls and don't map anything else for keyboard controls.
I know many of you are gonna be like "just use a mouse 4head" but it makes the game not enjoyable for me. I grew up playing keyboard only games where I controlled characters with arrow keys and when I try using a mouse, my brain literally goes insane and I either spin around randomly, constantly lose my cursor, move my character to random places or get motion sick. I am also absolutely horrible at using a joycon for controllers. There have been other MMOs that are controlled by keyboard only (such as Maplestory2) so it's not like this is an insane concept that I frequently see commenters shocked by.
I know on NA there was a feature to control your cursor with arrow keys and I was able to use that as a workaround + auto move to move my character in the direction of my cursor, but there was also input delay but I was able to deal with it. However, I just star
... keep reading on reddit β‘As the debate over p2w heats up in this sub, and the fact that it directly impacts the gear progression system, I would like to share a little research I did recently and hopefully it will be helpful to some people. It is centered around gear progression and p2w's impact.
A quick heads up: since in both games players can buy boosts, both has p2w in progression. But that is not the goal of this post.
Because of boosting, in both Lost Ark and WoW whales can obtain the best gear possible simply through p2w methods. That being said, if f2p players can obtain comparable gear without literally committing 6+ hours each day to a game, that means the relative advantage p2w has over f2p is a lot less meaningful. In reality, since p2w is inevitable, to f2p players, the difference between f2p and p2w is more important than the existence of an in game cash shop or some boosting community.
For the sake of comparison we will use WoW patch 9.0.5 and lost ark normal Abrelshud patch(between Astalgia and ancient equipment). I decide to not use the current patch because I started trying out lost ark RU when WoW 9.1 released. The data for WoW will be much more detailed since I barely get to the legion raid content in Lost Ark.
Definition of end game gear: The item level where players commonly attempt to clear the hardest content. That is normal Abrelshud for lost ark and mythic Sire Denathrius(or Sludgefist since everyone attempting those bosses are likely 220+ ). End game level gear is important because this is where the gear progressing curve is at its steepest(probably) and where the most competitive players(in whatever sense) start to gain an edge over others in terms of gear. That being said, it is definitely possible to clear both Abrelshud and Sire without p2w at all. But since so few players can defeat them, for most players, to cross the threshold literally demands p2w. In fact, before the Astalgia patch and upper t3 gear, being above 1490 gear score means either a lot of grind or p2w(enhancement level 20+ on mid t3 gear), and because Abrelshud gives upper t3, this makes it even more p2w. Many defeated normal Abrelshud while having 1490+ gear score.
Since few players can complete the final end game content(not boosting and over gearing) it, we can generalize that, for most players, being above the entrance level of end game gear is almost equivalent to p2w.
WoW:
To obtain end game level gear in 9.0.5, players likely need to obtain the KSM(keystone master

I started late in the beta and I really wanted to get to endgame to get a feel of the design philosophy of the devs and what it has to offer for me and the people I play with. I know it's only beta and I've been called out for "try-harding it", but to me the thing that matters most is end-game PVE content, and perhaps this perspective is what I'd like to share to anyone who might read this especially with the nuance of comparison to other relatively same content in other games.
Strictly 6 hours before servers closed I was able to finish the story and now I can queue the later half of the Abyssal Dungeons. Man it took me a while in the queue and my idiot friends did not finish the story and got stucked in the Lost Ark PVP rabbit hole.
Three hours before shutdown my queue popped from 1 to let's fucking go thanks to those people from the guild Modern Malone (i've been wrapping my head if it's a pun on Post Malone). Anyway shoutout to you Sheng, Poetat, Dkina, you guys rock!! Here's our clear for people who haven't seen it and people who wants to see an arpg noob play:
As you can see, I'm not the best player in the world, have 150-ish latency, and bad framerates. Must be my boomer age reflex and carpal tunnel ridden hands. But boy it took us almost 3 hours if I'm not mistaken to clear it. I went in blind and asked them if I can try to figure out things first and teach me if we got stuck on a mechanic. We got to third boss in less than an hour left I think. I'm very aware this won't be the most challenging content but boy I did enjoy. Contrary to most people, I actually like wiping a lot not solely for wiping but the learning process and progression is so fun for me. We got to meteor a lot and can't seem to hit the light thing right.
