Red cabbage side dishes

Hi, I’m new here so I’m sorry in advance if I haven’t followed normal posting etiquette.

So, for Christmas Day, I bought a red cabbage as I thought we could do with something β€œfresher” to add to the plate. However, upon looking for how to cook cabbage, the way to do it for Christmas seems to be to braise it with apples. This sounds really nice, and I would love to try it, but I have so many rich elements already, I’d hoped the cabbage would be more of a crunchy, lighter addition than the braised recipes I’ve found.

How would be best to prepare it? Should I stick to tradition and just braise it? Should I keep it fresh and boil it with some salt and vinegar? Or is there a middle of the road option here that I’m missing?

LPT: If you're trying to eat less (CICO) making a list of low cal dishes/foods at your favorite restaurants that way you can still have food at restaurants you like instead of cutting them out is super helpful

Utilize this vs. coming up with a super restrictive diet or cutting out things you like eating.

Diet is about sustainability vs. unsustainable restrictive diets that maybe work for like a week or so.

Still try to get plenty of veggies and healthy foods in. Don't subsist on small portions of high cal foods you like! Get plenty of fiber!

Hope this helps anyone out there!

Your List Of The Worst Signature Dishes (S1-S12)

S1: Andrew’s β€œAbsolute” Penne.

S2: Polly’s undone focaccia bread (Gordon would rather eat poodle shit).

S3: Vinnie’s chorizo crusted pink snapper that was too hot. He even argued with Gordon.

S4: Matt’s exotic tartare.

S5: Seth’s ratatouille lamb with honey, where he laughed and was threatened with elimination.

S6: Melinda’s poached lobster tail without the lobster tail.

S7: Nilka’s hot wings in which she used half a bottle of Tabasco.

S8: Antonia’s Mardi Gras Gumbo, where Gordon threw up.

S9: Jonathan’s punch-drunk chicken in which he used canned pineapple and gave an excuse where he didn’t have enough time to cut a pineapple.

S10: Tavon’s shrimp, scallops, and crab over Fettuccine Alfredo with Whiskey-infused sauce, which was a hideous mess (IMO looked worst than Raj’s seafood and vegetable pancake).

S11: Susan's lamb and couscous in which she served it raw.

S12: Mike’s store-brought tortellini and canned sauce. He even talked shit behind Gordon’s back and was threatened with elimination.

Sheet 1 has a list of dishes and all ingredients that are needed to make each dish. I want to create something so that when I select, for example 5 dishes from Sheet 1, I get a list of all ingredients for those 5 dishes. Thanks!

Basically, what the main quesion says.

I have typed the all foods that I know how to cook, along with the list of ingredients.

I want to make my shopping efficient.

So if for the next week, I want to make dish 1, dish 4, dish 5, and dish 11, I want to be able to select the dish names, and I get a list of ingredients that I need to make these dishes.

Then I can check my pantry and see what I need to buy.
