A list of puns related to "Laryngeal cancer"
Hi, my dad was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer a few months ago, and had a full laryngectomy about a month ago. My question is a bit specific so if anyone has experience, I am all ears. My dad has developed a crazy runny nose that wonβt stop. He doesnβt have any other symptoms. We were using allergy meds, but those seemed to have stopped working. I canβt call his doctor until Monday (itβs Saturday). He canβt blow his nose anymore because of his neck stoma so we donβt know what to do. I thought maybe he could try using a neti pot, but Iβm afraid of making his situation worse. If anyone can provide any advice, we would be immensely grateful!! Thank you in advance!
After Kaiser Wilhelm the First's death his son; Frederick III took the throne.. for 90 days until his death, leaving his poor son Wilhelm too take the German throne. But: What if Frederick hadn't died and Wilhelm the Second never came too power? How would this have changed Europe in the 1900's? Or even today?
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask about the advice, I do not know if this is the right place, I've looked through subreddits and that's the only place where I think It fits.
My father was diagnosed with subglottic laryngeal cancer about 2 months ago. He had a sore throat since one year but never done (what a mistake) nothing with that, not even a checkup. Recently he went to a doctor, had a biopsy and that's what the result was: subglottic laryngeal cancer. In the beginning we thought that this will be treatable somehow (we did not dig into the topic) but what the reality is, we've already visited 4 doctors and everyone says the same thing: larynx resection. It sounds like a judgement for my father. Is there really no other way? All of the doctors seemed like uninterested in father's topic, although they have been paid top dollar for consultations, that's why I want to ask also here. We are still trying to find any other workaround for that, to not let that medical intervention happen.
Anyone had an experience with that? Anyone can help us with an advice?
Many thanks in advance,
Hi everyone,
I read this subreddit quite a bit and have finally found the courage to post. My mom (58F) was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in late April of this year. She had a total laryngectomy in May then did 6 weeks of radiation and chemo once she was a bit stronger. That wrapped up in early September. I temporarily worked remotely so I could help care for her, but I had to leave in September. I feel guilty, but I haven't been back to visit them until we came home for the Thanksgiving holiday. We have been here since late Tuesday night and need to leave tomorrow.
Her condition seems much much worse. She can barely walk on her own, is 88 lbs (5'9), and seems mentally not really there. I didn't know how bad it became until getting here. She hasn't been diagnosed as terminal at this point. She had a PET scan on Tuesday and we are waiting on results.
I feel incredibly guilty, anxious, and depressed about the entire situation and next steps. I have been so anxious today that I haven't been able to keep liquids down. My dad is an absolute mess being her caregiver (we have home health nurses, OT, and PTs that come out as well). It's hurting me so much to see her declining like this. I'm frustrated with the medical system and how none of her doctors seem to align with each other and I'm exhausted from fighting so hard to be her advocate (something I can do even though I'm not with her) to feel like I'm getting no where. I don't know what to do or where to turn. She's my best friend. I thought I was "ready" for her to go but seeing this decline is the hardest thing I've had to go through. I know she feels awful.
I'm not sure why I'm posting this. I guess maybe I want to talk to people who understand. I feel so powerless, alone, and heartbroken.

Hi all, I hope someone can help me determine what the best cause of action to take is.
My dog started vomiting (even on an empty stomach) a few times a day for about a week at a time 8 months ago in what we thought was a fit of reverse sneezing after taking her to the vet. The same thing happened around 4 months ago.
2 months ago she all of a sudden started randomly coughing, and the vomiting happened again. She also started to have a nasty cough every time she did ANY kind of exercise, so we took her to the vet once more. They thought it was just some kind of kennel cough, so gave her some anti-biotics and we thought that would be the end of it.
Anyway, it didn't get any better. Last week she was at the vets yet again because they suspected she now has laryngeal paralysis, which was confirmed after she was put under anaesthetic and they looked down her throat.
Our options are now as follows:
The vet we take her to can perform a tracheostomy essentially for free.
We can take her to another vet to have one of the vocal chords pinned back and do it "properly", at a significant cost (around Β£1500).
She can be put down.
What scares me though is how quickly it actually seem to onset considering (from what I've read) it's supposed to be slow onsetting. 2 months ago she wasn't coughing at all (just having the random vomiting fits), and would run around a field just fine - whereas now she can't run up the stairs without having to clear her throat multiple times. She clears her throat every now and then when settled down, but otherwise doesn't seem to have any trouble breathing (yet?).
From speaking to a family friend who is a consultant (for humans, though...) he does say such a quick onset on this disease for a dog that is so young might indicate something more sinister, like cancer, which wouldn't have shown up on the x-rays they did, and that it may be best to put her down now instead of going through options 1/2 and then have to put her down in 6 months time anyway. My mother now has it in her mind that the dog has cancer and we should put her down and not waste money on her.
From doing some reading it does seem that this is something that we can most likely fix in the short term - but that the long term outlook is typically bleak since this paralysis is the start of a whole nervous system degeneration. She has
... keep reading on reddit β‘My dad probably has laryngeal cancer (they think it's slow growing, but they're not sure), but will probably do a laryngectomy whether or not it's cancer, since there is a tumor on his larynx. The doctors hope that the laryngectomy will cure the cancer, if it is cancer. If anyone here has experience with living with a laryngectomy or knows someone who has lived with one, please tell me how it went after surgery. Also, please include how you dealt with laryngeal cancer if it applies.
This is for an elderly (but strong) patient (my granny) and (to an extent) cost is not an issue. We are based in the EU and just would love to hear about some more experimental options before proceeding with the conventional? Anybody have any idea? Even just a name as a starting point.
