A list of puns related to "LMS Stanier Class 8F"
An episode of Humongous Movies on the Smithsonian Channel last night detailed the rescue of a pair Stanier 8Fs locomotives from Turkey. The program specifically follows the transport of the locos from Turkey back to the UK for restoration.
There are a lot of repeats in the schedule for anyone interested, episode info.
There's also an older episode replaying in the upcoming week where they bring back a pair of A4 locos back to the UK.
Hello everyone,
I live in Canada and am looking for a Stanier Class 5 4-6-0, or "Black 5," locomotive in HO/OO scale, ideally with British Rail colours. I understand Hornby mainly makes them, but the listings on their site are really contradictory and some of the prices are a bit ridiculous.
As you might imagine, it's a bit challenging trying to find British model locomotives in Canada.
Do any of you have any preferred retailers, ideally in Canada but anywhere really, that sell Black 5 locomotives in HO/OO scale for reasonable prices? I have looked around and found some, but am curious as to your personal preferences based on price and quality. Thank you!
UPDATE: I found a Black 5 on eBay from a great price! It's due to arrive at the end of the month; used, but in great condition. Does anyone have any recommendations for rolling stock?
I'm just thinking back to undergrad days. I had some really awesome professors who were caring and kind. Some went out of their way for students.
However, perhaps I'm remembering it wrong, but we were not coddled in the same way I have to coddle my own ADULT students.
I send so many messages through the LMS with helpful reminders, notifications, etc. When I was in undergrad, it was either on the syllabus or a reminder in class from the professor.
Now, if I were NOT sending the reminders the way I am, I would be told that I'm not making enough of an effort? At what point did responsibility shift solely to the instructor taking on the burden rather than the student?
Does any one have a picture of the loco? Me and my friend have been trying to find one because we love the song 8 freight blues by David Goulder can anyone help?
So as you probably know if you saw my previous post, I've only just bought TS2022. I started on the Cross-City route (after academy) but I had the slight problem: my train wouldn't start! Incidentally I was playing the Early Bird scenario. So this was my screen:
Based on anecdotal evidence and over-generalizations, half my students want access to the LMS before the class starts and half complain about getting emails before the semester begins and/or "starting the semester early" by opening the LMS site early. I share my syllabus by email a few days early with a note that says the LMS site will open at 0800 on the first day of classes.
I just had a student ask, why not just open the LMS now for students who want to look in early? Fair question, but my position is still no, neither I nor my course material are available before the semester begins. My compromise is the sharing of the syllabus so students can install software, acquire texts and materials, and see when the major assignments and exams fall on the calendar.
That's enough, right? I'm not the jerk here, right? Thank you. I'll hang up and listen now.
