A list of puns related to "Konami Wai Wai World"
There was a version of Konami's Wai Wai World Famicom game that released in 1988 that was released for Japanese mobile platforms. If your not familiar with that game here you go. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Konami_Wai_Wai_World
Anyway, This version basically replaces 2 of the charatures, King Kong from a game based on King Kong 2 released around the same time as the Wai Wai world game and Mikey Walsh from a Goonies game relased around the same time as this with Penta from Antarctic Adventure, and Upa from Bio Miracle Bokutte Upa as well as changing up the levels where they are found to fit the fighters. Basically it was realeased for mobile phones in 2006 and I can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows anything let me know.
Its so amazing! I disliked the sequel, though, each game should include Konami Man and Konami Lady/Girl playable in the sequel too. plus the sequel format was weird. the first game did things right https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Ok4Abj0TpI

this series should've received as many sequels like Castlevania games received! there's tons of potential with it!
Anyone knows what consoles have Wai Wai World in a Konami collection? I can get games from Japan PS3 PSN and Japan PS4 PSN if there is a collection that has the game included. though the stores are in Japanese and they tend to not the list the games there, so Im not sure if they ported Wai Wai World to a Konami collection in PS3 or PS4.
I've never seen this directors films before and I'd like to get into them in the best way I can, but I found out that there were changes done to several films from the collection. So it is still worth it to buy this collection and watch these films as a first time viewer? Or what do you recommend?
Iβve been wanting to buy the box set for awhile now, but recently I managed to see some of the retouches and Iβm not a fan to say the least. They absolutely massacred Fallen Angels IMO. Criterion Channel has the alternate (original) versions on there and I was wondering if they are included on the box set as well. Iβm a little reluctant to fork out 100$ on these edits
i received the world of wong kar wai box set last april, but i hadnβt had time to check out all the discs until now. last night i found that my in the mood for love disc freezes around the one hour mark. can i still send it in for a replacement? i tried looking online. but i could only find information about replacing the citizen kane discs.
Iβve heard that the packaging is flimsy but Iβm not sure, Iβve never seen it in person.
Can anyone who owns this set confirm or deny this?
For anyone who had their blu-ray discs replaced for the World of Wong Kar Wai box set, are the discs labeled as 2nd printings or presses? I was pretty sure replacement discs from the 2009-10 blu-ray disc rot fiasco read 2nd printing on the disc art (I have a handful of those).
Alternatively, would anyone be willing to share disc identification numbers from the underside of their replacement blu-rays? (I'm assuming anyone with the corrected discs got rid of the original copies, but a comparison of the numbers on the underside would spectacular...not holding out for that of course lol)
I'm posting about this because I just got a new copy of the box set myself and I couldn't previously find any info on whether or not the discs have officially been replaced in manufacturing (so I'm not sure if my box might have corrected copies or not). Just looking to see if anyone here might have info they're willing to share with me π
I just received my World of Wong Kar-Wai boxset form the flash sale. I've already watched In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express, Fallen Angels and Happy Together, but I wanna watch/rewatch them all. I've heard the Love trilogy should be best watched all in a row but what's your opinion on the best order to view all of these masterpieces?
It looks amazing. I want it but Iβm trying to restrain myself. Iβm a blu ray addict I think.
During the Barnes and Noble sale I picked up the WKW box set. I just finished watching through all the films recently, and I think it might it be my absolute favorite set in the collection. The packaging is absolutely stunning and unique. Itβs a perfect reflection of the films. In addition, the films are all amazing. I had seen many previously, but revisiting them was an absolute treat. I know the restorations are not everyoneβs cup of tea, but they didnβt really bother me at all. I actually thought the changes really worked for some of the films like In the Mood for Love and yes, Fallen Angels.
Iβm curious what do others around here think of the set?
Final note, 2046 needs to get more love. IMHO it should be considered one of the greatest cinematic sequels of all time.
And I mean I REALLY love it. Love the characters, the story, the music, the vibes, cinematography, everything. Are his other films similar? I'd normally watch them before buying but I'm tempted to go in 100% blind
I got an email today saying it will be 2-4 weeks until the replacement discs arrive, but I am so excited to finally be able to watch these films.
Has anyone actually received the replacement discs? Do they play properly? Every disc in the set I got freezes up and stops playing a little after the 1 hour mark, and Happy Together had a ton of stuttering issues. Thought I would be safe from the issues as Iβm not using a Xbox. I emailed Criterion today, just curious if anyone has actually been through the process yet. Thanks!
I had to order Ashes of Time Redux separately as it was not in the box set. I assume licensing issues.
Hey guys! I know the summer sale is only a bit off in the future, and I seriously need help! Iβm totally caught between getting the Fellini or Wong Kar Wai box sets. Itβs been pecking at me for days, and Iβm totally indecisive over this. Which of the two would you guys prefer and why? Iβd appreciate any advice or direction ;D
I just received the World of Wong Kar Wai set from B&N yesterday. Everything looks great to me, except for some disc skipping issues which are apparently not isolated incidents and were reported elsewhere online.
The disc freezes at the following points:
Days of Being Wild - 1h 10m mark
Chungking Express - 1h 8m mark
In the Mood for Love - right after he moves to Singapore (Chapter 15 or so?)
Does anyone have a workaround for this? I am using a standalone Sony Blu-Ray player which is otherwise reliable and plays everything I throw at it without issues (with discs of varying vintage/quality/condition).
I have not tested all discs comprehensively. I've just read about these issues and all issues were successfully replicated.
I've emailed Criterion so I'll see what resolution I can get from their end as well.
UPDATE: Criterion has responded and they will mail out replacement discs. You have to send a photo with your defective discs marked up with your name and the date with a permanent marker. ETA should be 2-4 weeks.
UPDATE: Discs arrived just a little under 2 weeks. The issues appear to be fixed.
