Just because the court proceeds with the case by following the procedure of law, it does not mean that it is biased against the applicant, additional chief metropolitan magistrate ST Dande said in her order in which she rejected Kangana Ranaut's plea that sought transfer of the case to some other court. The additional chief metropolitan magistrate had rejected Kangana Ranaut's petition on October 21, but its detailed order was made available today."

The Bombay High Court today dismissed the plea filed by actor Kangana Ranaut seeking quashing of the criminal defamation proceedings initiated against her by a court in Mumbai based on lyricist Javed Akhtar's complaint.
High court judge, Justice Revati Mohite Dere, who had on September 1 reserved her order on the plea, said the applicant's (Kangana Ranaut's) petition "stands dismissed".
Ms Ranaut, through her counsel Rizwan Siddiquee, had challenged the defamation proceedings that were initiated by the Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate's court earlier this year, saying that the court had failed to apply its mind to the case.
In December 2020, the court directed the Juhu police to conduct an inquiry into Javed Akhtar's complaint against Kangana Ranaut and then initiated criminal proceedings against her, and issued summons to her in February this year.

In a chat with writer Twinkle Khanna, shared on the Tweak India YouTube channel on Thursday, Shabana Azmi admitted that her parents were not in favour of the relationship.
When Twinkle asked her if it was βdifficult at that timeβ, Shabana said, βHe was a married man, he had children, it was really tough. And that's why I feel that people shouldn't speculate. It's difficult enough for the people involved and then just for gossip's sake. And obviously, people are going to say, βYou call yourself a feminist and then how have you got yourself in this situation?ββ
She continued, βAt that time, I had a choice. I could explain my point of view, which would justify the action I had taken, but I felt if I did that, it would lead to more speculation, and more gossip, so I decided to go quiet. In time people will come to know, and that is exactly what happened. Now of this, the real good thing that happened, and I give Honey a lot of credit for it, because through it all, she never poisoned the children's minds against me. She could have been really generous, and she would have been justifiedβ¦ But she never, never did that. In fact, she sent the children with us to London when they were really young, and that became a bonding, and it's to her credit, and Javed's credit, and my credit that we have such a healthy relationship with Zoya and Farhan.β

Kangana Ranaut's request to cancel the defamation case filed by poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar was rejected by Bombay High Court this morning. With the High Court refusing relief, the 34-year-old actor has to appear before the Metropolitan Magistrate's court next week on Tuesday (September 14). The court has warned her that if the actor is not present in the next hearing, a warrant would be issued against her.
The actress was granted bail in March by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Andheri after a bailable warrant was issued against her by the court. The actress was instructed to appear before the court on March 1, 2021 in connection to the case but failed to turn up and was issued a bailable warrant. She was granted bail upon furnishing a surety of Rs. 15,000 and a cash surety of Rs. 20,000.
Javed Akhtar had filed a criminal complaint against Kangana Ranaut in November last year before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate, alleging that she made defamatory and baseless comments against him in a television interview to the news channel Republic TV. According to the complaint, Ranautβs statements hurt Akhtarβs reputation. The veteran lyricist claimed that his name has been unnecessarily dragged in connection to the unfortunate death of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
