A list of puns related to "Japanese work environment"
So my company works with folks and representatives from certain companies that are based out of Japan. Whenever we message anything to them, we generally refer to them as <Name>-san. In fact when we are discussing about any Japanese client person in our office discussions (which don't have Japanese folks), we are still referring to them with the word san
But on Googling, I find that the title san is used in an informal setting, used in a "friendly" setup
So, I was wondering is it safe to just drop the san while discussing names? Given I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable, but at the same time I don't want to be disrespectful
Moved to Japan when 12. Spent junior high, high school, uni in Japan, and currently working in a very Japanese environment. Thought people might be interested. AMA.
Dang guys I was gradually climbing the ladder moving from a couple of good companies being recruited through a few great manager's, ended up getting a good "designation" at a company I thought was good and got through from family contacts but fuck this is the worst company I've ever worked in, they gave me no training, they have given me no work related to my actual field, each day coming here feels like I'm wasting my life. I've made a huge mistake joining here and I can't even leave due to my current life situation, I can't be without a stable income even for a single month. Never join a company for a higher salary and better designation sigh, work environment is so important.
Currently saving as much as I can to get a driver's license cause I feel like I'm useless without it in this market, won't be able to leave until I'm somewhat stable in my financial situation.
Probably gonna go crazy working here man fuck
My phone has been getting blown up by a few recruiters looking for anyone that speaks Japanese and works in a help desk environment.
There is an opening out at the Honda plant in Marysville.
If anyone is interested hit me up and I'll pass along the contact info.
I worked at an incredibly toxic company for over three years, and finally quit this past summer. My new job is a stark contrast to what I experienced. Deprogramming from what I had been used to has been eye opening to say the least. Itβs hard to wrap my head around how completely unhappy and distressed that I was. Even typing the words out is hard, so I apologize if this seems choppy, and it will probably be long. I feel like I need to share my experiences, what my work environment is like now, and how my life as a whole had been affected.
Past company (QA analyst, then sales):
I already suffer from several mental illnesses (PTSD and ADHD, among others), but this job had me spiraling. I was completely suicidal, and the only thing that kept me alive was the fact that I was a single parent. My physical health was also abysmal - I was gaining weight, my skin was awful, my hair was falling out, smoking weed nightly to self-medicate, etc.
These things SHOULD NOT BE NORM
... keep reading on reddit β‘I mean even in βgoodβ work environments, thereβs always fear below the surface of everyoneβs smiles and handshakes. Itβs a fear of being fired, losing your insurance (in America), not being able to provide for your family, etc. Management holds a tremendous amount of power over you. Even if they canβt fire you, there are plenty of other ways that an ego-bruised manager can fuck up your life. They can put you on a shit shift, pair you up with someone they know you hate, give you an impossibly large amount of work to complete until you burn out, etc. To me, unless youβre in a family business (as a family member), youβre the CEO, you own the business, or you have a unicorn boss who self-sacrifices to help the employees, every workplace is hostile.
So over the past few months weβve had a 6 being groomed to be the new PSG and the dude is just not cut out for the job. Fat, lazy, doesnβt accept any input but everything that we do is just straight up stupid. The dude is slick racist but nobody has like hard words to report. Out of 15 E5βs and 6βs we all have our reasons to not like him. Always belittle us in front of subordinates is the biggest complaint. Itβs one thing if We do something wrong but from what Iβm hearing heβs just nit picking everything and whenever you go to him for help he responds with βdo I need to hold your hand like a sissy girlβ Obviously our current outgoing leadership are blinded or checked out, and top is too new to see that weβre having issues. Whatβs the easiest way to report this guy for creating such a hostile environment. Itβs gotta to the point where the joes will go directly to him over simple shit, hell undermine us with our own soldiers, ridicule us and talk shit about all of us in front of our joes. Itβs best if he is removed as it would be impossible to remove 15 NCOβs.
Dear All,
I'm currently working on the practical part of my MA thesis and I need both Japanese and English (UK only) NATIVE speakers to fill in a questionnaire I've prepared for this purpose. Please note that I need only WORKING people - no matter where you work. The questionnaire is about language politeness and impoliteness in general and about language of conflict in different working environments, to be more precise. It shouldn't take more than 10-15 minutes to fill in the form and I'd GREATLY appreciate your help!
Here's the form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSezWhc2xObyS7DCpfw4N90HOKqIrCPWBSj51I_i9hAv_FCDmA/viewform?usp=sf_link.
Thank you in advance, so so so much!

I work at a small restaurant in California. A new manager started two weeks ago. His management strategy is to verbally abuse people because he "gets frustrated." We had a meeting about this. He told us that wer need to be patient with him. Okay. We gave it a try. A week later, it's still happening. I've talked to the owners. Is there an enforcement agency with whom I could file a complaint that might contact the owners? I'm not ready to file a lawsuit, yet, but I would like to escalate the pressure to change this behavior. TIA.
I think this is as about as favorable as I could hope regarding telework. Agencies are basically encouraged to promote telework as much as possible, even for those who previously didn't telework because of their jobs (they give examples of allowing these employees telework to do trainings, education, etc.) Now to see how my agency handles things...The OPM guidance is Appendix A (starts on page 13) - https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2021/06/M-21-25.pdf
Or on any environment ig but yay aha
