A list of puns related to "IRobot Create"
Hi,
Has anyone ever had an issue with dust escaping when the irobot empties its contents into the docking station? It never used to happen to me but I noticed it happening after I switched to a replacement dirt disposal bag. I switched the bag to another to see if that was the cause but the issue continued.
This isn't much point in a vacuum if it leaves the air very unhealthy when it finishes cleaning.
Cheers
Hi guys. I have an irobot create 4400 model and I'm trying to use a jetson nano to send commands to it. I want to try this example that turns on the play led. I connected the tx and rx and gnd ports from J41 header on the jetson nano to rx and tx and gnd ports on create's db25. Here's my code.
However, the create just won't move at all. I don't know if I'm missing some setup steps or just simply my codes are wrong. I wonder if anyone could be kind enough to check and see if there's anything wrong with my code? How would u write it if u want to send this command? Sorry if my problem is a bit foolish, but I'm really new to this and everything seems so complicated.
Hi guys. So I have a gen 1 irobot create model 4400. And I'm planning to write codes on my windows 10 pc and then run the codes by the irobot itself.
To my knowledge, I can do that with the command module. However when I tried to connect the command module 4812, my pc couldn't recognize the device. I later found out that when this model came out, it only supported windows xp.
So I'm wondering is there any way to make it work on a windows 10 or windows 7 pc? If not I'll have to find another way to control the irobot create :(
i have a robot that has a serial data header there is rxd and txd pins(and ground) that use TTL levels. is it possible to send these numbers to the robot with the esp2866 over wifi?
i wnat too connect the esp to the robot and have a webpage where i can type these numbers for the esp to tell them to the robot
My robot is connected to Home app and registered on the site properly. iRobot account also connects to IFTTT. But when I try to create action like start or stop robot it just spits out "Options Unavailable" error in drop-down menu like there is no robot connected to account. Already tried switching region to US and language to English but to no avail. Reconnecting account also didn't help. iRobot's support couldn't help me either. I genuinely don't know what else I could do. Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Hello, new account.
I've been tinkering with TurtleBot on ROS for years with an iRobot Create for a base and drive, with ROS Indigo running on an Intel i5 NUC and a MS Kinetic camera for vision all strapped on with a power bank running the NUC. It works, most of the time, OK and there is more I can to do with it in that stable version if there is no real upgrade path to using later versions of ROS.
Is it even worth trying to use the iRobot Create base in Melodic? Is it supported still? Should I just invest in a different hardware platform? I've had this since 2014 and was a cheap way to get into ROS with a starter platform and works well for a little floor turtle.
The iRobot create is just the drive system and some sensors, everything is controlled by ROS via serial connection between the Intel NUC and iRobot base.
Doing a robotics project using the iRobot create 2 open interface and it looks like I need to send reset commands after every use (akin to removing and replacing battery). If I run multiple tests a day every day would this be bad for the iRobot long term?
Using Bose's active noise cancellation technology.
I'm interested in the iRobot Create 2, the new Roomba-without-a-vacuum hobby robot.
The price point is pretty great. I've built a robot from the ground up with Arduino and even building my own chassis. But, I'd like something out of the box that I can worry more about coding and behavior than hardware. This seems like a solid robotics platform for $200.
So, has anyone gotten one of these yet? What is your experience with it?
Hello /r/robotics
I was wondering if the iRobot create was still considered a good affordable platform to play with robotics, was thinking about ordering one but I haven't seen to much talk on this platform in a couple years. I have seen a lot of talk about the EZ-Robot EZB v4 on this subreddit, is it better to use this and roll your own robot chassis? Thanks for the help
Hello r/robotics,
I want to use a Raspberry Pi 2 B+ to control an iRobot Create. Currently iRobot sells the Create 2 on their website for $200, but the original Create can be found elsewhere for around $120-130.
My first question is, which Create would be a better option for getting the Raspberry Pi to "talk" to the robot?
It seems like the Create 2 requires nothing more than a serial to usb connection and a Python library. However it's unclear to me whether the original Create requires more or less effort. Are both machines just "plug in and start programming" or do you still need to mess with soldering and reading serial I/O to get a Raspberry Pi to talk with the original Create?
I will probably get the Create 2 if it is easier to control out of the box. However, if they're both essentially the same I would opt for the original (and cheaper) Create.
And my second question is, how are the two machines different spec-wise? Does one have better battery-life than the other, go faster etc.
Thanks!
I apologize if this is the wrong sub for this, but here goes:
I've recently come into possession of an iRobot Create after a high school teacher of mine decided to throw it out for w/e reason and I've decided to take the opportunity to mess around with it.
After a bit of clueless searching on beginner projects , a friend of mine suggested that we play Pong with it - using the iRobot as the ball, some white tape as an arena, and some paper as paddles.
We're extremely new to Python in general, so we might be over our heads in this, but we like a challenge and it'll give us something to do.
How do we get the iRobot to recognize the our boundaries (white tape) and paddles (white paper)? What peripherals will we have to use, or are the iRobot's built in sensors capable of doing this on their own?
That aside, how do we get it to, well, bounce? We understand that we can call it to move and turn but how would we go about simulating the bouncing effect you'd see in a virtual game of Pong?
edit: It's an iRobot Create 1.
