A list of puns related to "Hydrated silica"
Hi, I'd like to double check if there is something safe about breathing hydrated silica vs. silica for people suffering from autoimmune conditions. My job requires us to limit crystalline silica exposure, so I am not used to hearing silica inhalation is not ok. Then I read my wife's dry shampoo and it contains hydrated silica. She sprays a ton of this stuff creating a cloud of whatever. I understand that hydrated silica is amorphous silica, and is somewhat different, am concerned because she has an autoimmune condition that research suggests is aggravated by silica (not sure what form) in the research. Does anyone know if this hydrated silica is safe for inhalation by people with autoimmune such as scleroderma or MS?
Hello,
I'm on the search for a queen mattress for my new place and have been using sleeplikethedead but find it difficult to find information on fire retardants used. I'm trying to figure out what the safest material is in terms of health. Yes I know in most cases fiberglass doesn't matter if you keep the cover closed but I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I'm leaning towards the Love & Sleep and they have this bit on use of Hydrated Silica instead of "chemicals". Then I found some blogs on Hydrated Silica but they all seem illegitimate or funded by other mattress companies.
Anyone have any personal insight on this topic?
Assuming you don't rinse after because there will always be some left behind... Does it eventually dissolve in the mouth, gets ingested with saliva/food/etc, or just sits in oral tissues forever? Like... isn't that kinda bad or am I nuts?
Cuz I just switched from Parodontax to Blend-a-med with stabilized SnF to complement Ultradex Recalcifying mouthwash with nano-hydroxyapatite and chlorine dioxide and girls are hot and such...
Hi everyone! I don't see anything in a search or in the FAQ about products that use hydrated silica. I'm interested in whether this is a skin-ripper like walnut shell and salt or if it is a gentler exfoliant. I stopped using St. Ive's Apricot Scrub after reading through this subreddit and am looking for a replacement. I like to use the scrubs on my legs and upper arms for keeping bumps away, but also on my face :)
Thanks in advance for any replies!
Hey everyone!
I just finished the above podcast episode and I thought it was so good that I wanted to share it! They discuss synthetic vs organic nutrients, lighting spectrums, soil vs hydroponic, flushing, silica use, and more. Remember that Dr Bugbee works at the University of Utah conducting research on medicinal hemp and other plants and while some of what he says may go against traditional practices he knows what heβs talking about.
The most interesting points Dr Bugbee made were:
As the title suggests, this is my current sunscreen collection, and I'll be reviewing the products and mentioning the ones I love and the ones I don't ! (This post might be half cooked, not very organised and all over the place, but it's my first time, so bare with me :P)
So as I mentioned, this is my first post here (eeep! :D) and initially I thought of sharing my entire shelfie, but I realised that being the junkie/hoarder I am, it'd end up being a terribly long post , hence after much deliberation I decided to post different categories of products separately (sunscreens, moisturisers, serums etc) and after I'm done with that, I shall be making a post with only the products I use in my current skincare routine!
Without further adieu let's get started! Please do like, share, subscribe and don't forget to hit the bell icon!... lmao jk

Note : None of these products have been used by me on a strictly daily basis, except for a week (or two) in a row during vacations, as I rarely step out of the house (lockdown, duh!) and don't apply sunscreen indoors (*gaasp* π¨)
Rest assured, I've reapplied some when out, and have used them on and off in a span of 6 months.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I did a 2020 empties review which you can find here. This year's empties are much smaller in comparison to my previous year simply because I did not hoard multiple years of empties for my own sanity's sake.
I will also give myself a shoutout to my skincare Instagram. You can follow me if you want more detailed reviews on products. (im pretty inconsistent on posting tho)
My skin is acne-prone, oily T-zone with a normal to dry U-zone. I live in a dry climate with brutally cold winters and hot summers. My main concerns are acne, hyperpigmentation, dry, flaky skin during the winters, and oily foreheads during the summer.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
First watch this video:

This is how we make it in my country, India.
You can learn how they made it but they don't share their ingredients.
All these materials are dirt cheap except Silicon carbide which is not cheap in my country, $5 for 100grams. (maybe it's cheaper in bulk, online price are always inflated in this country)
So why they cost so much? Mostly because they are heavy and are made abroad so logistics and middlemen make a lot of money on these. Workers aren't getting even $7 a day in labor.
Ingredients :
40% graphite flakes (couldn't find locally bought online)
25% fireclay (available at pottery store)
15% crushed high fire clay body like porcelain, particle size 1mm-2mm. (do not use terracotta or other low fire clay here, only porcelain)
10% silicone carbide
5% borosilicate powder (just crushed glassware which are made up of borosilicate glass)
3% alumina powder (from pottery store)
2% aluminium or magnesium powder
All the above material needs to be powered as fine as possible, mesh 200 or mesh 150 will work just fine except for the Porcelain grog where size must be 1mm to 2mm particle size.
Why are we using these particular ingredients:
Goal here is to built a crucible that is able to sustain 700-1400C. While fireclay or porcelain body can sustain 1400C but thermal shock and localized thermal expansion makes it crack. The clay body does not burn or decompose it just cracks, which tells us our material is refractory enough just not able to deal with uneven thermal stress.
We need thermal conductivity within the clay body so that the thermal expansion is uniform across the body, more or less. We use graphite here to aid it.
Fireclay is our binder which itself is refractory enough upto 1700*C it will help us sinter all of this together into one clay body.
Crushed clay body is our grog preventing cracking further by reducing shrinkage when the clay body is dried.
Borosilicate glass powder is source of silica and Boron flux needed to fuse and make glass bonds and help lower melting point of alumina and silica and bond together.
Silicone carbide is excellent thermal conductor like Graphite it helps in thermal stability and uniform distribution of thermal stress.
Finally, alumina powder is included so that it combines with free silica released from borosilicate decomposition.
Aluminium powder or magnesium powder is our "rapid dryer" of clay body. If you do not include it then

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
