A list of puns related to "Gration"
I'm sure many of us are familiar with the BBC's Harry Gration, and I was sad to learn yesterday was his last day presenting at BBC Look North. I just wanted to share this little personal anecdote of what a great bloke he is.
When I was 14, I wrote to Harry asking for advice on how he got into his career and if I could maybe shadow him one day. He replied very quickly and gave me some career tips on what to study, how he got into it etc. It was really useful and helped me choose subjects for GCSEs. However, as I was not over 16, he told me work experience wouldn't be possible. But, he said I should write to him again in 2 years.
Two years past, I turned 16, and I dropped Harry an email - expecting him to have forgotten. But he hadn't. And, as he promised, he promptly invited me into BBC Leeds and hosted me for an edition of Look North. This was despite the BBC having a rule on only allowing Uni students in for work experience as, according to Harry, there could be insurance issues. So he said we'd keep it informal.
The day arrived and I was incredibly nervous waiting in the BBC foyer. But Harry completely put me at ease, was funny, showed me around, introduced me to everyone there and I learnt huge amounts (as well as getting to watch it all go out on the set). I'm certain having this on my CV helped me get other experience after this (and then start a career).
He truly is an absolute diamond of a man.
Thank you, Harry, and good luck for the future!
Hurray!
Hey guys, I'm pretty new to this sub reddit but I've wanted to post this for a while. I was recently diagnosed with OSDD (other specified dissociative disorder) caused by childhood trauma. I've had people in my head talking to me and helping me since I was a child and as I grew older sometimes they'd front. Sometimes this is difficult for me and for people around me, the dissociation and memory problems can be troubling but overall I don't think I want my alters gone. The host's mother booked an appointment with a specialist who works with integration therapy and I was wondering if anyone had had experiences with this in the past. What was it like? Do they force it upon you even if you don't want it? Does it even work/how long does it take? Does it combine everyone together or does it just get rid of some alters?
I'm pretty nervous, I don't know what I'd do without our protector,,,ah please help
The funeral director was asking us what we think Mum should wear in her casket.
Mum always loved to wear sarongs (fabric wraps that go around the torso and drape downward a bit like a long skirt would), so my uncle suggested that she wear a sarong in there.
The funeral director looked a bit confused, as did some of our family members, to which my uncle added:
"What's sarong with that?"
I started laughing like an idiot. He was proud of it too. The funeral director was rather shocked. We assured her, and our more proper relatives, that Mum would've absolutely loved the joke (which is very true).
His delivery was perfect. I'll never forget the risk he took. We sometimes recall the moment as a way help cushion the blows of the grieving process.
--Edit-- I appreciate the condolences. I'm doing well and the worst is behind me and my family. But thanks :)
--Edit-- Massive thanks for all the awards and kind words. And the puns! Love 'em.
I would have a daughter
But Bill kept the Windows
