This was a very necessary gut check for us. It was good to see us have to adjust to an offensive style we're sure to see again. We would not have won this game had it not been for our versatility from the bench.
- Lightfoot and Coleman-Lands: thank you.
- I trust Lightfoot on offense way more than I do McCormack. I am going to break a wall if DMac finishes the year with less than 15 dunks (it's not clear, but it looks like he has about 5-7 this season, I can't find who tracks dunks). He is not playing his game and he looked terrible on defense today. The guy needs to watch his own film and see how easy it is to scout him. Stop hesitating and jam the ball, David!
- That being said, Lightfoot played an outstanding role against Oduro. He was the perfect size and quickness for that dude and this has to make Self think twice about who plays our big role against certain matchups. His game experience was enormously clutch.
- I loved watching JCL catch a pass and go straight up for a three. 5-7 from the arc on a night where Ochai and Braun were both very quiet. He also hit the floor for at least two 50/50 balls. Again, we don't win this game were it not for Lightfoot and Coleman-Lands.
- It felt like they had our number for pretty much the whole game. Shout out to Gaines. That dude was all over the place wreaking havoc on us. I was worried for a long time that we would fall behind and then struggle to establish any identity of a comeback. We adjusted decently well, but there's a huge opportunity to find lots of areas of improvement before Tuesday.
- For instance, we are seeing something I noticed earlier this season. Why do we consistently leave shooters open for threes? If a guy is shooting 52% from 3 for the season, don't play help defense. Stay marked up on him or he makes you pay.
- Our bench outscored theirs 23-0 in the first half and 38-3 overall. Yesefu had a small moment in the first half where I thought he figured it out, but then he played poorly for the rest of the game. But Lightfoot came up big and even Adams held his ground. I think my fav bench player though, Jalen Coleman-Lands, was critical to breaking out of our slump early on and keeping us in the game during the second half.
- Is anyone else surprised we don't play more two big lineups? We have DMac, Lightfoot, Adams and Clemence who could all rotate into lineups. This used to be a Self staple for years, but he hasn't even hinted at it this season.

You might, or might not, know Wilshire Baptist Church as the antithesis of First Baptist Dallas. George Mason, the long time pastor that lead the church through years of women ordination, LGBT affirmation, and being kicked out of the SBC accordingly (among many many other Social Justice Gospel works he has lead for decades in Dallas), announced his resignation on Youtube yesterday.
