just had some questions about getting my security license. i have a 420 hour placement i need to complete for my program, and was considering trying to go into security for the summer to complete my hours.
i was wondering if you needed a drivers license to become a regular security guard? im not interested in driving obviously but im able to commute.
i was also wondering if getting my license from gardaworld will close off other opportunities from other security guard companies considering the license is from a specific security guard company.

Hi I live in Canada and own a Ontario Security license which I obtained through gardaworld in Ontario.
I want to move to a a difference province (Alberta), but I noticed Gardaworld jobs there require a Alberta security guard license. I was wondering if my ontario security license would be able to be transferrable or would i have to retake the gardaworld course in alberta?
I knwo this is /r/securityguards but when I type gardaworld on reddit it leads to security guards. Gardaworld also hires tellers or cash processors. How is that job ? according to this sub nvr work for garda as a security guard is top advice but how about as a teller? They seem to alawys be hiring.
Thought Iβd post here to see if anyone knew if GardaWorld has an official policy on overtime. Iβm looking for a second job but donβt feel the need to go through the hiring process if Gardaworld will let me work the overtime equivalent of a second job.
I currently work 40hrs a week, and Iβm looking to pick up ~30 more. I know thatβs quite a bit of overtime but I also know one of the guards I work with is pretty much on call and she works at least 15-20hrs overtime each week. I donβt want to be on call, Iβd rather extend the length of my shifts or work the hours at a different post on a consistent schedule. If I talk to my account manager, is that something you think he would approve?

Been working for Garda a couple months. Got a shift last night in downtown Edmonton that went from 6pm to 6am. They told me not to drive as parking isn't free and to take transit. I had no problem getting to work with transit but the bus leaving work, which was supposed to come at 6:13am, never showed. Next bus was an hour later. I have a shift today from 4pm to 4am and needed to sleep so I had no choice but to book a cab which was a $35.11 expense.
I called Garda control before I called the cab and they literally told me "sorry, we can't help you."
Are these things normal especially for those who have permanent sites in downtown locations? I literally blew 2 hrs of pay just to get home.
Our Shift leads and SSOs are kicking people off the easier posts when they're scheduled to be there, only to have the same exact things happen at surrounding contracts. the overhead wont do anything. Is this happening to anyone else?

In prior service and just got out the USMC within the last 6 months and recently I got a Job Offer with Garda after one of their recruiters reached out to me.
I was wondering if anyone here as any insight on what itβs like working for Garda. I do know some people in the past while I was in the service who claimed they paid pretty well.

My husband is a veteran and he recently received an email from Gardaworld Security about going to Afghanistan. It makes me nervous but he feels good about it. Can someone please explain this company to us so we can make a smart decision? He is excited about the money but we don't even know how much it will pay yet.
So I have all docs but passport, Covid is slowing that process down. I am wondering about a packing list, if there is waiver to any PT style test as I'm 90% VA disabled, and if anyone successfully negotiated a better contract. Also, if you didn't go with Garda, did you find another one (TripleCanopy, etc)? Thanks.
