A list of puns related to "Fiona Apple discography"
Hello everyone!
I just wanted to express my excitement after FINALLY completing Fiona Appleβs discography on vinyl.
I got impatient waiting for an Extraordinary Machine repress so I saved up for the 2005 pressing, and can I just say? After listening to it on vinyl, I have a newfound appreciation for this record. This pressing sounds absolutely stunning! Some of my current favorites are Parting Gift, Window, and Please Please Please.
This has probably already been discussed, but what are your EM favorites?

Alright, kinda trimming down the collection still, a bunch of duplicates I would like to see go elsewhere. Shipping is $4 in the US. More for international obviously.
First to DM is first in line. I will get back to everyone as quickly as possible. PayPal Goods & Services only. Send a DM, or better yet try to 'Chat' with me... and send your PayPal email in it and I will invoice you right back. It's pretty smooth that way.
Any questions feel free to ask! Thanks for looking.
(EDIT: Shit, I forgot to list the Sparklehorse. DM me if you are interested tho. I'll post them in a day or two. )
[SOLD] $22 VG+ Miles Davis-Miles Smiles . 1980's RM & RE
Excellent and quiet copy. Clean. A little ring wear on the cover but not much honestly.
[SOLD] Sealed) Fiona Apple-Fetch The BoltCutters Barnes&Noble Limited Bronze, Sealed.
Brand New. Unopened. Bronze Version.
[SOLD] NM/VG+ Prince Paul- A Prince Among Thieves VMP
Spun once, yesterday. This one isn't really my thing. The outer sleeve that VMP sends stuff in was torn when I got it but the actual jacket and vinyl is perfect! It's a cool record, I'll just never listen to it again. I know I won't.
[SOLD] $23 NM/NM Tom Petty-Greatest Hits
Opened and never played. Dunno why I opened it up. I have his entire discography, I do not need this for only one song, Last Dance With Mary Jane... should go to someone that will enjoy it. In great condition.
[SOLD] $15 NM/NM David Bowie-The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust 2016 RM 180 gram
Sounds fantastic. Clean. Played maybe two or three times. I have a different version that I play more often. This one just sits there on the shelf.
[SOLD] NM/NM Elliott Smith- Elliott Smith 2012 RE 180g
Not sure why the value of this one has gone up in the last few months. It's hovering around $35-40 on discogs. This one is hardly played as well. Got the recent box set of this so no need for this one.
[SOLD] VG+/VG+ [Elliott Smith- XO 2008 RE 180g](https:

Title is pretty self-explanatory, but yeah this album left me stunned off of one listen.
Iβve always been aware of Fiona and her music ever since I started seriously listening like two years ago, but never dove into her discography or even her album that was thriving at the time Fetch the Bolt Cutters despite all the praise.
I decided to finally start today and begin with her sophomore record When The Pawnβ¦ and Iβm left near speechless.
There are few words I can use to describe and comprehend what I just heard for the first time, but Jesus this album is phenomenal.
Edit: Grammar
I saw a post here about the album When the Pawn... by Fiona Apple, at first I didn't think much of it but I had free time, so I decided to check it out.
Well, today I finally could enjoy the whole album, and it's one of my favorites ever, prolly.
To Your Love sounds incredible, and is my favorite of the album.
I'll definitely check out the rest of her catalogue. I was missing having a new female singer to listen to.
How did she slip under my radar I'll never know, but she did. And I'm so glad she's on my radar now.
What do you guys think of her? Never heard? Big Fans? Good or Great?
Hi, a few years ago I was listening to a 90s (I think) movie soundtrack and there was this entrancing and haunting song by a female singer that I can't remember.
It had similar vibes to Fiona Apple or Mazzy Starr. I am sure her name had either Crow or Blackbird or some type of bird in it. Or maybe the song had the bird name.
It is definitely not Sheryl Crow. More indie and haunting/depressing.
I thought it was the Reality Bites soundtrack but I checked it on Spotify and couldn't find it. The movie was along the same lines as Reality Bites though.
Sorry I can't do a vocaroo because I cannot for the life of me remember the tune or any of the words. It was one of those songs that is difficult to remember.
Thanks for any help!
Edit: thank you for all these epic responses! I'm slowly making my way through them all because a lot of artists I have never heard of before -so need go listen to them all. Even if these aren't the right song, you have introduced me to a lot of cool artists and songs so thank you!
im typing this in a Fiona shirt. I know that being a Fiona girl is no longer the mark of zoomer female individuality and intellect and it hasn't been for a while (thanks to the on_a_downward_spiral adjacent community π) but fuck whos gonna take her place for those of us 16-22 who's bell jarish sensibilities keep us from publicly claiming billie eilish as relatable out of fear of not sounding esoteric???
i'm on my male manipulator arc rn
When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won't matter, cuz you'll know that you're right.
Lately I've been on a Fiona Apple binge... I admire her lyricism so much and I wanted to get to know her more as an aspiring musician myself. I searched up on the net but so far it's mostly results of recent years (2019-2021) and I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a site where I can read her old print interviews (90s.) Thank you in advance!
I just found out about this interview today and it's one of the coolest things ever, give it a read

Some others that come to mind that fit the theme: Cloud Cult, Man Man, My Chemical Romance, Tom Waits, and the White Stripes. Basically I enjoy unexpected sounds, but have to be able to hear/understand what the artist is singing.
I listened to Extraordinary Machine last night, and it seems like Waltz is in 6/8. Also, the chorus in Not About Love sounds like 6/8 as well (although it could just be the drum triplets giving that effect).
Not the full album title but you get the point
This album was pretty great. In the same vein as Olivia Rodrigo's recent stellar debut, Fiona Apple's sophomore album is all about breakups. I loved hearing the piano front and center on this record, there hasn't been enough piano on this list so far in my opinion. Fiona's voice and melody and especially her lyrics carry this album, and it definitely doesn't hurt that the orchestration is fantastic as well.
Another great listen, I know I'm ranking so many albums in a row very highly, but hey, it's the top 500, what's you expect? The metaphors in her lyrics range from the simple "you can't expect me to make sense I'm not good at math" to the extremely layered (but still simple on the surface) "He said, it's all in your head, and I said, So's everything, but he didn't get it"
This album is very easy to digest, and is the fourth album so far to end with a cover of a 60s song that is completely unrelated to the rest of the album (NoMeansNo - Wrong, Dead Kennedys - Plastic Surgery Disasters, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill) which is just really weird to me like why is this such a common trend in the 80s and 90s???
On the note of the cover song, it was very tasteful. It was the Beatles Across the Universe, the messiest Beatles song with no perfect version of it bc they all got messed with somehow during production. But the underlying orchestration of Apple's cover here feels very respectful of Lennon's original ideas, almost as if she covered the song specifically to make a perfect version of it. I don't think she succeeded in that front only because a typical 90s drum loop plays over the whole thing. The best part of the song is when the drums cut out for half a verse.
Anyway, about the actual original songs, they are aggressively early 2000s, in the best way possible. There's a lot of pop variety on this record and I definitely think it's worth checking out. The opening track On the Bound and the second-to-last track Get Gone are certainly standouts musically. Everything else (except A Mistake, easily the dullest track) are also great lyrically and melodically. It's a short record, listen to the whole thing. It's one for the bucket list.
8/10
If you had to pick just one!
I think I would go with Never Is A Promise. I always come back to this song and it still makes me emotional all these years later. It's a great example of the female rage that runs through so much of Fiona's music and just perfectly captures the stinging disappointment you feel when someone lets you down (imo). I still can't believe how young she was when she wrote it. It's such a mature piece of writing and a gorgeous melody.

For fellow audiophiles, I noticed that a majority of the Deftones' discography is available as high res lossless and/or an Apple Digital Master. I'm going to listen to this week and see how they sound on my medium level setup.
