Finger Cots

I just discovered something yesterday that you might want to add to your first aid kit: finger cots.

They are basically sleeves that fit over an individual finger. I am using them to protect my skin, which dries and cracks. They can also be used to protect cuts, either over a bandage or to replace the bandage. Then you don't have to worry about the bandage coming off when you wash your hands. And they can protect against infection.

The best prices I have seen are at Walmart.

I think mine are latex, but they are also made of other materials, including gel and fabric that is supposedly cut-resistant, which are marketed to for that purpose. And I think there is something similar sized for toes.

Hi, I have recently changed from English to Continental style knitting and when I knit too much I get calluses in my index finger, so I wandered if anyone has any experience with any of this finger cots silicone protectors or any suggestion.

Thank you so much

Finger cots for peen?

Never herd of them until today but looking at the size and such it seems likely to work. Was wondering if anyone has tried them and also if they're safe? I get maybe not okay for sexual protection but maybe just to be affirming and such or with a safe partner? (Probably borderline nsfw but idk how to flag the post as that tbh)

Finger Cots = I did it!

Hi all! Thanks in part to you all, I have been over a month of no biting. It's INSANE. I literally never thought I could do this. I learned a lot from this page. I could talk about my methods forever.

Current Situation = I am a nail biter, but the worst part was skin picking! Specifically my fingers and cuticles. I'm 36. Have had this problem for at least 30 years. Have tried the bad tasting stuff, habit building apps, snapping a rubber band, bandaids, gloves, audiobooks, meditation, and have spent hundreds on cuticle oils, clippers, lotions, etc. But I figured if I was ever going to crack this nut, now was the time to do it. I teach from home at the moment so don't have to be in public very often.

Through Reddit, I read that a physical barrier (like gloves) was necessary to break the habit -- and that this would also eliminate visual stimulation, which I realized was very triggering for me as well (I look at my hands/fingers all the time).

I tried gloves, but they made my hands too hot and were difficult to type with. I came on here a few months ago to complain that band aids were no good either; the feeling of a wet band-aid on my hands is the worst (and like a good covid citizen, Im washing my hands a LOT these days).

Enter ..... finger cots!!!!!! On a whim, I googled finger gloves and this product came up. I cut a small amount of the tip off (yes, this is like a circumcision and yes, these look like tiny penises lol). I told myself I would wear them on my fingers for a whole month. But by Day 5, I felt like I'd already had a breakthrough and the urge was starting to dissipate! So, I gradually began wearing them less and less. I told myself that if I relapse, I will just put them back on -- which I have done sometimes - but for the most part, it's been so far, so good!

My theory about why this has worked:

  1. They eliminated the visual trigger and provided a physical barrier.

  2. They are silicone, so they can get wet and they dry pretty well. This meant I could wash my hands and keep them on, eat and cook and keep them on, sleep in them, etc. (Sometimes, if I washed my hands and felt they were still wet, I'd take them off and put some baby powder on the inside, and that usually worked).

  3. Cutting off the slightest bit at the tip allowed me to use my phone and type on my keyboard without any issues.

  4. An unexpected bonus -- they s

Hello,

I was hoping to find out if using finger cots/covers helped anyone break the habit of nail biting. If it did are there any tips you could share. If not after, what did help you? I am trying to stop biting my nails after biting them for as long as I can remember.

Finger Cots and/or Gloves

Good afternoon all,

I'm hoping to find out about any items I can use on my Grandma's damaged finger. She picks at it constantly and I fear it will soon have to be amputated. Over the past few months, I've purchased pretty much everything under the sun to keep the finger safe (Finger Cots, Gloves, Paper Tape, Splints). She just ends up taking it off after 10-15 minutes. She has mild dementia so she doesn't understand what she's doing is making the finger worse. The mornings are bad since she's picking at it most of the night and it ends up bloodied by the morning. We (myself and my mother who both care for her) have tried taping the hand with a glove to no avail. Is there anything out there that we can put on that will STAY on? Basically something that needs to be cut off to be removed. I don't want it to be too tight of course, but something that will fasten or lock. A finger cot that can do that would be great, but I've been searching to no avail.

Finger cot recommendations

Hi, I'm pretty new to figuring out my identity as a lesbian and was hoping for some advice regarding finger cots/condoms. I'm someone who likes and maintains long nails (because having short nails makes my anxiety really bad), and I've been doing research about how to have sex with long nails. The biggest recommendation I've heard are to use cotton balls and finger cots for any penetration and that they can work quite well.

I'd love to get some advice regarding your experiences using them, and some of the best brands you'd recommend. Also, I'm wanting to know if using these are a turn off and if gloves might be better.

Thanks!
