A list of puns related to "Final Fantasy XII"
I really don't get why this game isn't talked about as much as other games in the franchise. I guess it was released at a tough time, with PS3 on the rise and PS2 just finishing its trajectory, so I guess it was overlooked back then. But seriously, I'm finding it greatly amusing. It's a really fun game to play, the characters are cool, the whole design/visual aspect is amazing (digging the arab influences in the world), and the soundtrack is mesmerizing. I find it weird how FFXII never pops up when people talk about their favourite FF game -- it's always VII, IX or X. Anyways, I'm still halfway through the game, and one minor complaint is I feel it might be too long, even for a JRPG. But it is definitely a great experience and I'm loving it!
I bought FFXII The zodiac age off Amazon, it going to arrive tomorrow. Iv seen alittle of its gameplay and it looks kinda nerve racking. Anyway I have a few questions if anyone wouldn't mind answering for me. I have not played this one before but the character designs looked really nice and I'm curious about it.
1.Is the Combat difficult? As someone who's mostly played turn-based rpgs, this seems like it'll be difficult to get used to.
2.Is the story good? If I was to be more specific,is it Final fantasy worthy.
Have anyone realized that 14!Venat and 12!Venat ended up much more similar than expected?
Both Venat ended up being traitors to their own race's will by delivering the world from being at the mercy of their people. 12!Venat by preventing the Occuria to ever decide the course of history, and 14!Venat by preventing the Ancients to sacrifice any more life for the revival of their people.
Both have ended up allowing even more suffering to happen, in FFXII, it is supposed that Venat's actions led to the cataclysm that wiped out most of the population, as a possible result of giving mankind their own free will without any higher power to guide them, and in FFXIV, it's by creating this sundered world where mankind would do as they please without enjoying any of the powers the ancient had that would lead to their previous utopia (so plague, conflict, etc).
Both have deemed it a necessary evil as long as it allows mankind to evolve on their own even if it means countless tragedies to happen.
The big difference being that 14!Venat is absolutely benevolent and only wishes the best for her people, while 12!Venat is still a divine being who only understand things from her own concept. 12!Venat is pragmatic and sought her result from Vayne pretty much being her "warrior of light", who wanted Ivalice united under one banner after freeing mankind, while 14!Venat just wanted to leave the world flourish on its own. 12!Venat had a good ideology but ultimately had a hands-off position regarding mankind, if they destroy themselves as a result, it is fine as long as they do it on their own terms and her kind is not involved, while 14!Venat wants the best out of mankind.
Couple that with Zodiark, being the same name as FFT/12 Zodiark, who had the power to rewrite the laws of reality and was the being that held everything together in the world, and then you have two archetypes from Ivalice occupying a big role in Endwalker.
Especially when you factor in the convocation of the fourteen having the titles of the scions of light in FF12, who were the servants of the gods to protect their position and keep things the way it is, while the scions of darkness rebelled against their creators to live their own lives.
Just thought that was pretty cool to point out. It was very cool to see the idea being explored further. It's not often you see people well aware of FFXII's story and lore so it's cool to see the FFXIV team taking the game into account while writing their stories.
I donβt understand why people hate on this game. Everything people complain about is their own wrongdoing (βthe game plays itselfβ). I never overthink the gambit system. I honestly only use it to auto heal. Everything else I handle manually and LOVE IT. This game is FUCKING AWESOME.
So, around when I met the Garif I decided to reclass a few of my characters because I had just bought Fira and it utterly demolished EVERYTHING, well, except for the really really tough enemies like Elementals.
I made Vaan and Penelo both Black and White mages.
I also made Ashe and Fran (alongside more physical jobs) Black Mages too, just to milk Fira (and soon, Thundaga) for all it was worth.
Then I went back into the Barheim Passage after doing the side-quests allowing me back in there.
Halfway through the new area with tougher monsters, they started using reflect, which really really screwed me over (I really should have seen that coming at some point) my physical fighters weren't strong enough to carry the party on their own.
So I ran past the monsters to the nearest save point, which was right before the boss fight with>!Zalera !<who I was NOT prepared for. But I was even more screwed because the only way out was back through the monsters that were already established too strong for me.
While I had >!Larsa !< as a guest party member who would spam Cura it wasn't enough, also the fact that >!Larsa!< has terrible HP even at level 40 so >!he!< dies a lot. And I was getting low on Phoenix Downs.
Then I realized.
I had been so focused on Vaan and Penelo going nuts with Fira on enemies, I never did (or didn't do much of, at least) their White Mage license boards.
I have no idea where in the world I had bought Cura, Regen and Raise, I literally had no idea I even had them until this point. But I wasn't complaining and gave them to both Vaan and Penelo. I am actually plowing through these enemies now.
Just thought I'd tell this π I feel so ridiculously stupid.
Funny how that goes isn't it? Releasing on the coattails of FFX, I hated it. Too big, too wordy, too complex, too western.
Now, I've come to love the game over the years and I'm ready to defend it everywhere, but replaying it again right now, it just hammers it in more and more that had the series followed on that direction, it would have delivered on even more amazing products. Instead, it followed up on other FF games that far more people loved, and I feel like there is too much missing now.
Now I am playing games like Tales of Arise, Persona, FF7 Remake. Don't get me wrong, they're great games, but I'm just not having this sense of freedom and exploration from a JRPG anymore. FFXII had it, and nailed it. It still feels amazing to find stuff because you took the time to walk around. They didn't design the world around me, they just made a great world and I was given the cards to enjoy it at my own pace.
Gambit system was the biggest sticking point, but now we are getting a lot of games were you only control one characters and the rest is handled by AI. Aren't we missing something? Yes, it played itself, but at least it played itself according to my own specifications. Now I simply have no control over anything.
Even character progression was like, here's the thing, do whatever you want with it. I was allowed to do something entirely broken, I was also able to fuck up. But I was still in control.
Nowadays, that control is being taken away from me more and more for the "experience", but I've come to RPGs because there was a good sense of freedom while still delivering on amazingly delivered stories that were linear. It was a great balance of two great things.
FF15 had some of this but there was so much wrong with this, you didn't feel rewarded for the exploration, the locales were not varied enough, you used to only control one character, and the hunts were just excel sheets instead of stories. There were some good stuff, like that optional dungeon, but it was ultimately lacking.
Every time I boot up FFXII, I am getting that feeling again. This is what I loved about the genre. I understand that making a RPG that is ultimately a corridor is much better for devs than building an actual world where so much can go wrong. The staff is actually in control of where and when the player will experience something. But it feels shallow.
I just want to walk around and find the Necrohol of Nabudis by surprise and be scared that these enemies are too strong and
... keep reading on reddit β‘This might come off as a very weird and contradictory thread, but I hope it rings true to anyone else.
Final Fantasy XII, and it's remaster Zodiac Age, are probably one of my favorite games of all time. I'm definitely biased since it was my first Final Fantasy, so I came into the franchise without the expectations set by earlier installments. Maybe that helped me go into this one with a more open mind and don't mind the major differences it had in pretty much... everything. It hardly feels like a Final Fantasy game, aside from some thematic consistencies in its gameplay and lore. And to some people that's a big reason to dislike the game and think of it as a weaker entry in the franchise, and I can't argue with that, I definitely understand that point of view.
For the people like me though, FF XII is such a unique game in a class of its own. It borrows a lot of elements from many other games and genres, and builds this special semi-open, rich world with a ton of interesting lore and gameplay very very heavy on exploration and semi-sequence breaking. And I want more of it, goddamn it. Sad truth is, I don't think Square will ever make another FF like this again, specially since the franchise is known for being very experimental, and this game feels like it's in between the turn based and full action rpg style.
I know the other FFXII-like games out there, Xenoblade being the most famous example, as well as some Western CRPGs. And those are also great, but they are not FF XII. Which is fine of course, but it makes me realize I won't ever get a game that hits all the right notes for me in the JRPG/RPG genre like that one did. It almost makes me wish it was this separate IP, kind like your Dragon Quest or Monster Hunter, that always have this very consistent gameplay and themes and they just keeps evolving on each new entry.
But alas, I can only dream, and keep replaying FF XII for the umpteenth time.

Depois de ter vislumbrado toda vasta coleção do gamepass e se sentir nauseado por tanto conteΓΊdo. Finalmente me encontro fazendo parte da comunidade gamer.
Enfim, vou tentando aprender novamente a jogar.
There is not a lot I am particularly after but feel free to offer away!

I played FFXII on the PS2 way back in the day. And perhaps my search history told a story of nostalgia, because I have seen a lot of commercials for βFinal Fantasy XII: The Zodiac ageβ. But I would really like someone to tell me exactly what it is!
I keep seeing that it is a remaster of a version of FFXII that the west never received and⦠what the hell does that mean? If I buy it, will I get to play FFXII again? Is it the same but slightly different? Very different? How different and different in what way?
Please help me, internet brain.
I see a lot of people saying that there are no wrong teams, but Iβm afraid of choosing a set of jobs and finding myself too weak halfway into the game wishing I had chosen different jobs.
What do you think ? Is the game doable with any job combos ?
Thanks
Does anyone know if it's possible to play Final Fantasy XII at 60 fps on AetherSX2?
What a great game. Not without it's flaws and problems, to be sure, but a fantastic entry into the series nonetheless.
The Zodiac Age edition solved so many of the issues I had with the original PS2 release all those years ago, and I think it's fair to say that in many ways, FFXII has aged more gracefully than a number of other entries in the series. I was regularly blown away by how great FFXII looked, despite its age. Very, very few PS2 titles are capable of looking this good, remaster or not. A testament to truly fantastic art direction, imo.
Balthier + Fran forever :)
Final Fantasy XII is a role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix. The twelfth main installment of the Final Fantasy series, it was first released for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. It introduced several innovations to the series: an open world; a seamless battle system; a controllable camera; a customizable "gambit" system, which lets the player control the artificial intelligence (AI) of characters in battle; a "license" system, which determines what abilities and equipment can be used by characters; and hunting side quests, which allows the player to find and defeat increasingly difficult monsters in the game's open world. Final Fantasy XII also includes elements from previous games in the series, such as Chocobos and Moogles.
