Femoral hernia maybe?

(39f) About a month ago I started to feel a small lump on my groin whenever I cough, about a week after it progressed to tingling on that area as well as my arm and leg (right) whenever I sit. I’ve gone to a PT a couple of times, that helped for about a few days and then it goes back again. My symptoms points to femoral hernia or slipped disc. I have a doctor’s appointment on Wednesday, but I am hoping that you guys could give me a similar situation so I could press my doctor to do different tests and not just focus on hernia. I live in Canada, so I really have to advocate for myself. Thank you in advance.

Inguinal/Femoral Hernia or Endo

very random, but. ive struggled with what i thought was an inguinal hernia for years now. the lump is present at times the pain is often there. but then it goes away. but i have consisten sharp pain if i sneeze a lot or something like that. but something that always occurs is extreme sharpshooting pain in the inguinal femoral area right before and also during my period (menstrual bleed). its so bad sometimes it hurts to sit down or move my leg upward. i also can feel increased pain if im constipated or if i have to pee really badly. this is really odd to me as the pain amplifies during my period. i also only have one ovary and its on the side where the pain is.

i also previously had a CT scan done for my what i thought was hernia and of course nothing showed up probably because when i lay down it disappears and is small.

Im just curious if anyone else has ever dealt with this or noticed anything like this in themselves. thank yall!

How urgent is femoral hernia?

I have an ultrasound in a week because of symtoms of hernia without feeling any lumps. But yesterday I found two lumps about 2-3 cm from eachother, the lower is beside my scrotum on the inside of my thigh and the other a bit north on the stomach side. They both almost dissapear when I lay on my back. I read that femural hernia have a greater risk of getting cut from oxygen(dont know the english word), does that mean its like a ticking bomb or should I be safe if I just take it easy and dont do heavy lifts and such? I also have another doctors appointment in two days and are wondering if I should stress getting ultrasound and maybee surgary faster because of the femural hernia? Grateful for answers, feeling a bit scared when I dont know the facts.

Femoral hernia

Hi, female 27. So I'm gonna start from the beginning. Almost 2 years ago I was coughing bad and felt a pop in my pelvic area. Noticed I had a medium size bump on my right side bikini line. Went to my gyno to make sure it wasn't a hernia which she felt was just a swollen lymph node. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I'm still deal with right glute pain and numbness on inner thigh that flares up once in awhile, but no bump. Then I woke up one morning to pain in my right side pubic bone to find another bump smaller I messed with and ended up pushing it away which went away with the pain. Decided to go see a doctor, he believes it's a femoral hernia but can't do a scan since I'm 15 weeks pregnant also no surgery until I give birth. I don't see my gyno for another couple weeks but my anxiety has been sky rocketing since the news. Basically I'm asking what are the risks of a strangulated hernia and what sounds like can be death? (I hate that I have to wait on surgery). Secondly what is the risk of irritating it by giving birth that's almost of straining which I try to avoid. Scared it can lead to strangulated hernia which I might not feel due to an epidural.

Femoral Hernia?

22F, 120 pounds. Recently when I push down on my groin (where my groin and upper thigh connect on left side) it is extremely painful. It almost feels like I am badly bruised. It also hurts when I strain, or move/lay in certain positions. I looked up my symptoms and found Femoral Hernia. My only issue is I do not feel a bulge, and every website is telling me there would be one. I’m not sure if I should see a doctor or wait it out. Could this be a hernia? (I am a dancer who does high level activity daily). Thank you

might be a Dumb question but how would you differentiate between a femoral and inguinal hernia on a female patient?

I know females get femoral more often but just based on a physical exam how could you tell the difference?

No insurance, femoral hernia, what should I do?

The hernia's not been diagnosed and I understand I shouldn't self-diagnose but can you really blame me? It's hard out here without insurance. Anyways there's this lump on my right inner thigh, I helped my cousin move in some very, very heavy furniture a week or two ago into his mom's house... It all fits you know? So I've pretty much got the diagnosis.

There's still the problem of this is probably going to need some surgery. I've heard it can cause tissue death and then gangrene without surgery. That's some bullshit, I can literally lose my leg because I did a favor for my cousin? Please help me, please tell me what I can do.

Anyone here have a femoral hernia mesh repair before getting pregnant?

Just got a faint FRER positive today.

Also had medical imaging today to make sure my femoral hernia repair with mesh (about 3 years ago) is okay-dokey for TTC. I did NOT expect to get pregnant the first go and now I'm freaking out a little.

I'm making an ob-gyn appointment to review the imaging (my internist ordered it) but the internet has NOTHING on femoral hernias (they are rare, and the type of hernia that can kill you if left untreated + strangled, unfortunately).

Has anyone had a hernia mesh repair (femoral or otherwise) and THEN gotten pregnant? Were you high-risk? Did you have to have a C-section or was VBAC an option?

Was told I have an endometrioma on my right ovary, does this automatically mean I have endometriosis?

Hello! I am a trans guy (FTM) who still has all the reproductive organs they were born with. Since February of this year I have had terrible pelvic pain almost daily, with a palpable mass in my lower right abdomen a couple inches below my navel. In March I went to my PCP who told me I probably had a hernia. Got an abdominal ultrasound which revealed what they said was a large (don't remember the exact size but was nearly 3 inches wide) femoral hernia, to which I was promptly referred to a hernia surgeon, only to be told I did not actually have a hernia and there was no explanation for my pain. I still have yet to understand this part of my ordeal.

Fast forward a few weeks, in mid April, and I wound up in the ER for pelvic pain so bad I could not sit or stand without wanting to scream. Told ER doc about the possible hernia and they thought for sure it was an incarcerated hernia. So I was told essentially to prepare to be told I need emergency surgery. Got a CT scan, and the ER doc said that the palpable lump myself and docs have been feeling was actually an ovarian cyst. I was told it was small, and was given painkillers, told there was nothing I could do about it, and was sent on my way.

The hernia surgeon referred me to get an MRI in June or so and I was told the only abnormal finding was a "4cm hemorrhagic ovarian cyst." Again, I was told to just suck it up. So for several months after the MRI I just dealt with the pain. It got to a point where I couldn't take it anymore and decided to visit an OBGYN. In August I was given a gynecological ultrasound revealing a 4cm "simple, likely functional cyst" on my right ovary. I was told by my GYN that there was no way a cyst that small was causing pain, and was just told to wait and do a repeat ultrasound in 3 months.

I got the repeat done this past Wednesday. The tech as she was doing it stopped halfway through and said "wait, this looks different." She said to expect them to tell me I had a mucinous (sp?) cyst and that those typically don't go away without surgery. Get the report back, and was told I have a 4cm endometrioma with a 2cm mural nodule on it. My GYN office called me several times Thursday morning, once to tell me I needed to see an oncologist (because of the nodule), then to tell me to just wait it out and get another ultrasound in 2 months, then to tell me I needed urgent surgery to remove this cyst to determine whether or not it's malignant.

So, I've got my surgery scheduled for early December

Groin tenderness

I’m a female who has had HSV II for 2 years. I hardly get outbreaks now due to daily meds but I think I’m having one right now. I have tenderness below the crease between my groin and thigh, same side as the OB.

Has anyone had lymph node tenderness during an outbreak? I’m not sure if it’s that or possibly a femoral hernia because I deadlift a fairly heavy amount as well. Like if I press down on it, it feels bruised, that kind of pain. Thanks y’all!

[28M] Am I crazy for wanting lower back surgery as soon as possible?

https://imgur.com/a/3lTEesJ

Hello there,

I am a 28M, 5’10, 230 pounds, caucasian. Since 8 months ago I am dealing with back and femoral nerve pain. The pain start in the back, goes through the hip, the front of the thigh, the knee and ends just below the knee where the "upper interior" part of the calf seems to be. (First picture)

The pain is almost constant. Laying down help but there is always some pain. Sitting, coughing, sneezing, laughing and standing up for too long are all things I try to avoid because it triggers the pain from a constant 2-4 to a potent 8-10. My condition is worse as months goes by. My sleeping time and my ability to move is diminishing as well.

I have tried every conservative treatment you could name except the epidural shot. I am not against the shot but it seems to be more like an anti inflammatory band aid that will give temporary relief and being in Canada, I could be 6 months on a waiting list for the shot without being on the surgery waiting list (another 6-12 months).

I can’t figure out how to put the MRI pictures in jpg so I took screenshots (2nd and 3rd pictures)of those who looked more relevant. I know it’s not the same that scrolling through the whole bunch of pictures so I will try to find how to upload them in jpeg and edit.

My report (it’s in french so I translated the conclusions) indicated:

"Severe lumbar canal stenosis at L2-L3 and L3-L4, mild at L4-L5, mainly related to disc protrusions and which is particularly severe at L2-L3.Β "

I saw my neurosurgeon, he deemed that L2-L3 is the problem. My L3-L4 seems pretty bad too, do you think it is possible that he overlooked something there?

Also, he said that he could do the surgery and that it wouldn’t be that complicated but he told me he feared that it would cause instability in my spine. Is it because the hernia is bad and it would eventually lead to a fusion or degeneration of the discs lower in my back (that are also starting to look bad)?

Finally, am I crazy that I want surgery ASAP? I know this is no easy miracle solution, it comes with risk and need time to recover from, I just want the pain in my leg to be over with. I know that I must lose weight and strengthen my back but I feel that I can’t do that because I can’t push through this dreaded pain.

My ultimate goal would be to be able walking an hour straight without pain and sitting through a movie at the cinema without pain (not sit on my ass all day like I used to). Is this goal too high?

Sorr

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Just because it's a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.

THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB

Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"

I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes

r/unclejokes for dirty jokes

r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC

r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes

Punchline !

Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub

Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat

Help reading CT results

32F..: 155…5’2”

I went in initially for abdominal pain (lower left quadrant) and severe diarrhea

but found something that I thought might explain my chronic pelvic pain and lower back pain/swing back (however I’m hoping exercise would fix the chronic pelvic pain/lower back pain/swing back)

My CT scan results are as follows:

Peritoneum/Retroperitoneum: No free air. Trace pelvic free fluid.

Lymph Nodes: No lymphadenopathy.

Pelvic Organs/Bladder: The bladder is partially decompressed. A normal-appearing anteverted uterus is identified. Multiple pelvic phleboliths. Right ovarian corpus luteum.

Vessels: The abdominal vascular structures are patent.

Bones/Soft Tissues: L3 limbus vertebrae. Punctate focus of sclerosis in the right femoral head, likely represents a bone island. Tiny fat-containing umbilical hernia.
