Over-preening, lots of plucking. I got this lil guy two weeks ago and he's losing quite a few feathers a day to plucking. Do you think it's just the stress of adjusting to a new home? Should I make sure to mention it to the vet at his upcoming appointment?

My bird is plucking her feather and i dont know what to do.

I know, im a bad parrot owner who had a cockatoo umbrella as a second pet bird, but i want the best for her. I basically tried everything, gave her new toys, played with her more, gave her better food (she was eating seeds only before which was very bad i know) started giving her chop recipies, cleaned her cage very well, i always make sure she get some sun light, Veterinarians in my area aren't that good, some guy gave me a spray without even checking her out and it didn't work, went to another guy and he said she's depressed, and i should buy her a collar for plucking. But tbh im lost, idk what to do, ive read a lot and did most of what was asked. Im not planning for adoptaion because of the place i live in people wont take care of her that well, i have no idea what to do, this past month i was basically playing with her while searching for what i should do, or maybe im rushing it and i should give it sometime? Please help ASAP.

edit:im doing this all by my own, could it be the reason that she got bored of me ? she actually likes my dad more than me, but he dont give her any attenion, could that be another reason?

I think my conure is plucking her feathers

spoons - female - about 4 months old - cinnamon turquoise

I think she is starting to exhibit behaviors of plucking, she preens her belly a lot and usually has one of her softer feathers in her mouth to chew on. she started this behavior about a week ago there is no bare spots on her yet.

i feed her a diet of zupreem veggieblend flavor mix and zupreem sensible seed mix and a variety of fruits and veggies she gets almost no human food besides a lick or steal here and there.

in her cage, she has lots of toys that she can chew on and destroy although she doesn't seem too interested in them but honestly, if I'm awake shes not in her cage she rides on my shoulder all day and if i go somewhere in public she comes with me and when shes not on my shoulder shes either playing on her jungle gym or with her cat toy ball

i dont see any reason why she would start to pluck

Repeated feather plucking

As some of you may know, my pet budgie Maria was feather plucking a month or 2 ago. We took her to the vet, who said she was fine, and after some time Maria regrew her feathers. I check today, and I see her feathers strewn on the floor again. I feel the same sense of worry, because I don't want a repeat of the anxiety and sadness I felt before. Does anyone know why she keeps plucking her feathers? Is it boredom which can be solved with a new toy? Or is it something else? (I'm pretty sure it isn't an illness, because her cage mate is fine)

I've discovered feather plucking under the wings of my very hand shy cockatiel. I need to take her to the vet but don't want to traumatize her.

I got a cockatiel about 8 years ago as a baby. She used to be very affectionate and let me pet her and give her scritches. At a point during college I was unable to care for her properly so my parents took her for a couple years. Despite their best efforts I believe she was not treated with the care she deserves so she is now very hand shy and a little cranky. She steps up no problem, will sit on my shoulder etc, but if I try to get near her with my hand she hisses and shies away. She also hisses if you get near her cage at first, but if you talk to her or whistle she shows great interest! However during the past couple years when she's been living with me again I absolutely have not given her as much attention and out of cage time as I should've.

A couple months ago I noticed bald spots under each wing and the skin looked irritated. Her behavior (other than the usual crabbiness and hand shyness) was completely normal. Eating normally, drinking her water, flying around just fine, no noticeable differences in her droppings. Nevertheless it was a wakeup call for me and I decided to treat her better. I got her a new cage and toys, did some research and switched her to a new food because I realized her diet maybe wasn't the best (too much seeds, and I still can't get her to take interest in fruits or veggies other than bird-safe popcorn but I'm working on that). I started trying to take her out for an hour or two each day and just let her sit on her perch, on my shoulder, offer her a bath, even shower with her occasionally. At minimum I take her out 3-4x a week now but I really try to do every day.

I thought the area started to look better, less irritated, etc for a while after but I saw her stretch tonight and it appears to have grown and looks irritated again. I immediately knew this meant it was unlikely behavioral or related to malnourishment and that we need to take her to the vet. I'm honestly devastated, the guilt is killing me, but I know that's not what matters. I'm going to set up a vet appointment asap but I have no idea how to do this without traumatizing her.

Based on my internet research it's likely giardia, and a lot of people described being prescribed creams or vitamin E to apply to the area. I just don't know how we'll get through the exam and treatment without re-traumatizing her and erasing what little progress we've made. I think I could probably get her in a box to transport her okay since she's so good with stepping up and going bac

Today i just noticed that my 1.5 years old canary started feather plucking himself but he also stopped singing, i don't understand if this is beacuse he is molting, or he is stressed (if he is stressed its probably beacuse we grab him every single night to put him inside his cage after his free flight), but in the same time in the morning he seems so happy and also so playful.
