A list of puns related to "Faculty of Advocates"
Hello r/OSU,
I am a faculty at OSU and wanted to try and provide a bit of a look behind the curtain. The recent announcement has all of us surprised and scrambling, but I can assure you that every faculty that I know is working super hard over break to try and make the transition as seamless as possible. There will be hiccups and problems and no one knows how this will all play out, but everyone is putting in tons of extra hours to try and make Monday (and onwards) work. This includes incorporating technologies some of us have never used and entirely changing the structure of our courses.
I have seen a lot of posts about how inconvenient and frustrating this is. I can assure you that every single faculty is at least as frustrated as you are, but we are trying our best and will get through this. Try and remember that the reason for this is to try and be proactive and to save lives. A successful stymieing of the spread of COVID-19 will mean lives saved and suffering avoided. Hopefully the University can rally and make the end of the semester as painless as we are able.
(I am not making this post on behalf of anyone other than myself)
e: I really do appreciate the thanks and it is encouraging that we're all on the same page!
So I'm an english Geography student, and I'm looking to investigate the choice of location for the new Portland Diamond Project (from a transport perspective) for my dissertation. There is little literature on stadium choice at all, nevermind specifically in Portland itself.
Whilst looking through Google Scholar for articles, I strike gold. A paper, using modelling to decide stadium location... IN PORTLAND!! FOR AN MLB TEAM!!!! I smash the download button as quickly as possible, knowing this will become a key source in my literature review, or at the very least a springboard for me to further my research (as I have little in the way of alternative stadium sites at the moment).
Uh oh. "This project is only available to students, staff, and faculty of Portland State University". I try various paper crawling sites to no avail. I NEED THIS PAPER
Here's the link: https://pdxscholar.library.pdx.edu/etm_studentprojects/1503/
To anyone that could give me this I would be eternally grateful, the proposal is due in under 2 weeks lol
Thanks, from a Brit
Edit: also any extra info that anyone has about the Portland Diamond Project would be greatly appreciated :)
Edit2: I didn't expect such a huge response wow! Thank you SO much to everyone who commented and DMed me offering to help, hopefully the paper should be available to me soon, either by someone here or from the course leader who I have emailed
I'm in graduate studies, so perhaps I am not receiving some of the emails targeted to undergraduates. Of course, this would just mean that FGSR isn't communicating.
I'm seeing posts showing email communications from other faculties (science and engineering) and I'm wondering why my faculty is remaining silent.
Iβve become frustrated with how quick a lot of AITA commenters are to encourage OPβs to leave their partners when a challenging experience is posted. While leaving a partner is a necessary action in some cases, just flippantly ending a relationship because conflicts arise is not only a dangerous thing to recommend to others, but it deprives people of the challenges necessary to grow and evolve as emotionally intelligent adults.
When we muster the courage to face our relationship problems, and not run away, we develop deeper capacities for Love, Empathy, Understanding, and Communication. These capacities are absolutely critical for us as a generation to grow into mature, capable, and sensitive adults.
Encouraging people to exit relationships at the first sign of trouble is dangerous and immature, and a byproduct of our βthrow-awayβ consumer society. I often get a feeling that many commenters donβt have enough relationship experience to be giving such advise in the first place.
Please think twice before encouraging people to make drastic changes to their relationships; we should be encouraging greater communication and empathy as the first response to most conflicts.
Happy Halloween, Dreadit! Iβm here to hang out for a few hours before I prepare for Rue Morgueβs 23rd birthday/Halloween bash. Letβs chat about the magazine, podcasting, horror, sociology, Pomeranians or any other terrifying subject while I sip a spooky brew. Boo!

From the sounds of the email the university may announce a full closure of the campus soon.
If you've been working at the university over the past week, check your email, check your health and take the online self asessment and call 811 if you think you're at risk.
